Hell, as long as it ain't the STD-herpes I wont have to use a condom, so I, personally, wouldn't do anything

I had chickenpox a few weeks ago and had a look into shingles as well, I do pity you that you haven't had chickenpox when you were younger, the older you are the worse it is. As far as I know shingles is not contagious in the air(unlike chickenpox which is highly contagious), but you can catch chickenpox from it if you come into contact with the fluid from the sores. My father had it a few years ago and it was extremely painful, best take care of your mother.
Edit: just found a source, feel free to have a look a it. http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/shingles/shingles-cause

The kind of herpes your mom has is called Herpes-zoster, not herpex simplex (which can be type 1 or "non-STD" and type 2). It's a reactivation of the chicken-pox virus normally due to immunodepression. It can be transmited to anybody that didn't have the chicken pox, but that person will get a chicken pox instead of an herpes zoster. Hasn't she gone to the doctor? In case she has he probably would have told her what to do. In case she hasn't, she should.
BTW: I hate you people changing your avatars, I didn't even know it was you.

So this morning, I was talking to my mom when she said that she thinks he has herpes. Apparently the type she has is called Shingles? She told me there are 2 types of herpes, STDs and Non-STDs, and she said she got hers from having the chicken poX. Anyways, she said she had chicken pox back in 1979, so I don't know why all of the sudden now she's getting herpes instead of back when she had it. Is the kind of herpes she has contagious? Like, should I just act as if she doesn't have it, or should I avoid her like the plague?
