Are the password words from the english language or can they be anything ?
Also I didn't realise I could see my access key only once and already lost it... sorry ^^
EDIT : ok I got my answer from the help section, I just need my access key now

Oh well...this proved to be impossible for me.
Even if the requested password would be a 8 character lower case letters only combination, it would still take...a lot for a regular software to decrypt. Since i don't know of any other possibilities...good luck to all participants and thanks for the event xD

Looks fun and well-organized...I'm excited to participate!
Would it be possible to add a leaderboard to show how many passwords each registered user has solved?

This is entirely over my head, but I love the idea behind it! Have a bump for visibility!

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask
Game titles include console games? Only Steam games? Also I don't understand the other two themes... lyrics? names? Authors? Links? And the Steamgifts part.. I have no clue :/ parsed text? From all the threads ever created?

I just realized you can see other players scores, and saw you got the 6th.
I want your wordlis :P Still having problems with my 7a1n

Damn, 7a1n.rar is hard. I got almost all (relevant) word sources i could think of, filtered them and only have about 40 results matching. OFC none of them is the pw. Guess i need a coffee...

May i ask which os and which cracker you use ? I am having seriously problems getting john with opencl support running under windows.
I only get about 1000 p/s with crark bruteforcing (opencl) , but dictionary speed is at about 140 max.

I'm using a CUDA-based cracker for bruteforcing. The speed is insane compared to using CPU and it doesn't overheat. Also using a freeware application that can do dictionary searches and bruteforcing, but only 30 minutes of cracking at a time, and when it succeeds I only get the first 2 characters of the password, but that's enough to quickly search through the dictionary to find the right words, or I can just switch over to the other application and bruteforce the last letters since it's a lot faster once you've eliminated 2 letters.
All in windows, but I did use Kali Linux on a virtualbox to generate a wordlist for steam games.

Thanks, found it. It's not really faster bruteforcing as the tool i tried before, but dictionary attacks are about 5 times as fast.

Just so you know that one is working, i found your hash :P

And solved. Would have solved it 1 hour ago, it was actually on the next Bruteforce-attempt that I had queued up. Have been doing one starting letter at a time based on how common a letter is for a word to start with. Takes about an hour per letter, but since it's taking so much juice from my GPU and CPU the computer lags a lot when I'm running my tool and I wanted to do some stuff on it. =P
Next one (7a) went down in a few minutes after that.

Still hanging my 5th 7a1n (the only one with a number), but i solved 14/17 so far, so i have this going for me, which is nice, i guess...

Thank you for the music =) The clip is brilliant!
As for the event, may be I'll participate but much later (but before the 1st of July if it doesn't change).

Hi. As I mentioned little time ago in Besiege giveaway where you needed to decrypt random .rar passwords to get into a giveaway, I am now making bit more advanced version of that for GTA V giveaway.
As this is a bit more advanced, I made it bit more automated so I don't need to check for answers or post new files / hashes.
I made a small website for it: http://gta.skudra.us, where you can get hashes to decrypt and post answers there as well.
Few things you need to know before start decrypting:
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask

P.S.
If you have lost your access key, contact me so we can sort it out.
If you are on my blacklist from before and want to participate, please send me a message and I will remove you for this participation here.
Good luck.
