I've always had issues with Nvidia GPUs. My brother and me used their products for years: a 5200, a 5500, a 6200, a 7600GT and a GTX275, and they all had BSODs all of the time. Since last year I'm using an AMD/ATI HD5850 and he is using an AMD/ATI HD5770 and we couldn't be happier, they perform much better than Nvidia cards (no crashing all of the time) and in our case we find AMD's drivers more stable (had lots of trouble with certain Nvidia drivers that refused to work and had to go back to older ones).
In conclusion, Nvidia sucked for us, while AMD worked way better. You can say what you want, but that won't change all the crap Nvidia put us through, not having to deal with it anymore is the best thing that ever happened to us computer-wise.

AMD, they're a lot cheaper/performance, my (5750) has been reliable the whole way through, even after being 20% OC for 2yrs!
I must say, battlefield 3 was the only game I couldn't play on high without lagg, though I'm still using a dual core so that could be the case xD
Anyways I'm awaiting the 7XXX series and hopefully IB for my next system, do wish they hurry up though!

AMD, though I'm currently stuck gaming on an Intel integrated card. Hey, I mean, it runs Skyrim - it ain't super pretty, but it plays just fine.

nVidia for me. Tried ATi once (with one HD5770, and then two in Crossfire), but couldn't stand it - mainly how many issues I had, especially in Crossfire. I wouldn't be surprised if it was specific to the card or drivers or whatever, but that alone has gotten me from trying AMD or dual-card setups ever again.
And nVidia has one feature in particular that is the main reason why I'm picking it for my next build - 3D Vision (2).

also, seen a guy, who said amd, is for poor people .. You're wrong.. it's for smart people... intel isn't bad. But amd, is just so much cheaper in gpu range, and performance is the same... about cpu's there is a quite different story... Intel's may be more powerfull in cpu range.. but amd is still pretty nice.. so.. There isn't a winner in this battle. Because it's the buyers choice to buy intel / amd.. like taste.. ;D

AMD easily. I am currently using my first nvidia card, and will be going back to AMD as soon as I have the cash to do so.

Intel for CPUs, Nvidia for GPUs, but AMDs GPUs aren't bad at all, fairly priced, great performance, but I heavily make use of cuda and physx, so nvidia is a no brainer for me.
As for the card you want, budget? PSU specs so we know if you have enough power to run said suggested card? CPU you currently have so we don't suggest a GPU that'd cause a big bottleneck.
560 ti's are quite the sweetspot at $220-230 and are great performers and overclockers for the price.

Intel for CPU's. AMD just doesnt tick as good and I'm sure most CPU ranking sites will agree.
As for GPUs, it shifts from year to year... last year I believe AMD was definitely a winner (hardware vise). I currently own a HD 6950 and as far as power goes its just slightly better than its Nvidia counterpart (560Ti), the differences are really small though but I did have a few problems with my 6950 and we all know AMD drivers suck.. I'm probably not buying an amd card anytime soon.

Just wondering which graphics card company is the most popular with Steam Gifts users!
EDIT: Nvidia is the clear winner. If I were to buy a Nvidia card which one should I get and where should I get it. I'm in the UK.
