Whatever makes more sense to buy. The hardware market fluctuates constantly, so sticking with one brand is completely ignorant.
For example, a 2500k goes for 249. The AMD 1090t 6 core goes for 160 (not right now, holiday demands increased price, but I bought it last week for 159). Now, the 1090t performs close to the 2500k for less, it would be smarter to go with the 1090t (which is extremely easy to OC btw). When the i7 2600k drops in price THAT will be the smarter option.
Same goes with graphics cards. Why buy a 550ti when you can get a 6870 for around that price? Fanboy-ism is what kills smart shopping.
BTW, AM3+ mobos now support SLIs (970 and above).

AMD, they are cheaper and I can play every game on the market at maxed out settings.

i'm using AMD, but given the choice and money, NVidia for me would be the way to go

I think on paper the power/$ is better with ATI cards, but in practice (and at an increasing rate) there are games that release where there isn't any sort of good optimization for ATI. I'm not aware of a single game that Nvidia can't run at or above theoretical specs, where I know I talk with several people 'stuck' on ATI cards that have been stuck at or below 15 FPS in games that I could run at 40+ with substantially worse system specs.

I'm using an AMD card at the moment, but it's silly to go by brand alone. Look at what you need and what you want to spend and make a selection based on that, rather than just looking at the name on the label.
Brand loyalty is for suckers.

Catalyst Control Centre makes me rage with it taking sooo long to install, but it is missing a lot of options that Nvidia Control Panel has.
Plus I wish ATI would have a more intuitive numbering system for their releases. I'd like to be able to read minumum requirements and say "My card has a bigger number than that, therefore I can run this game".
But they do seem to be the card manufacturer to buy at the moment. Poor Nvidia :(

AMD is tested and worked out, amd is 80% better than nvidia compared how much money you put in it, and newest cpu from amd is better than best 6 core intel cpu. amd 8 core. and 6990 amd is much higher speeds than nvidia because of plinor lining technology that uses almost 100% better 2 core workingskill as they function much better now. amd you get alot more for money than nvidia. nvidia is having problems atm because they dont have enaugh money to research the next series but amd have alot more. amd have alot more developers and testers than nvidia and intel

im gonna say nvidia, but if you are poor atm try crossfiring 2 amd cards. Nvid for lasting power and reliability (works well with gigabyte) and amd for cheap but risky

Just wondering which graphics card company is the most popular with Steam Gifts users!
EDIT: Nvidia is the clear winner. If I were to buy a Nvidia card which one should I get and where should I get it. I'm in the UK.
