Yup , as far as i managed to dig ... everything is back under the table until stuff calms down .
I heard that people are actively trying to connect with members from the lesser known groups so they can get a share from the raws faster , and not have to work on the matterial someone else already released which is nice

Nyaa has been around a long time, Always sad to see a tracker go down but there is always another one to take over. :)

Private trackers are normally more stable, and better in general. Might be why BakaBT has recently gone private -- trying to stay more secure. Have you [thought about getting or] got an invite to AnimeBytes.tv? AB also has a lot more content that BakaBT because of Baka's idiotic (pun-intended) blacklist.
Comment has been collapsed.
Normally private trackers have a #invite channel on their IRC where you can inquire whether they'll invite you even if registration is closed. It's not so much as "asking for an invite" as it's "applying for membership". But if you're new to the private tracker community there probably isn't much you can show them -- unless you're part of a ripping, encoding or subbing group.

I second this. AB is a great tracker with loads of content. The difference between it and public trackers is that you have to follow some rules and maintain a minimum ratio.
...not that I know. I don't illegally download anything, of course. I just... heard about this from a guy...

a thread about pirating, and not a single negative comment? i honestly don't understand that. people get blacklisted like crazy and a lot of hateful comments when they say they pirate games. but pirating anime is somehow ok, i guess. ^^ not that i have something against it. i really don't. i think there are good reasons to pirate certain stuff (no money, no availability...). i am just baffled about this double-standard...
Comment has been collapsed.
Nah its just people love me , so they are being nice to each other cause i kindly asked them to :D
And yeah there are indeed double standarts when it comes to games vs ... pretty much anything else i guess .
I dont really wana go down that rabbit hole tho , i rather leave it as it is :p

asked them? you bribed them with giveaways!! xD
and don't worry, we don't need to start a discussion about it.

fuck its true you're on my white-list and could prolly get away with murder...
y'know...as long as it wasn't anyone important

I pirate anything that can no longer be acquired by legal means.
Fuck licensing agreements, if they truly wanted money licensing / publishing agreements would be eternal.
Basically, I should NOT have to resort to piracy to play games I want, such as
Duke Nukem Megaton Edition (gearbox's cash grab is crap)
Fuel (Codemaster removing games from Steam, they can suck my nuts)
other miscellaneous games removed from Steam + games never on Steam but released on PC
Comment has been collapsed.
sure, as i said, unavailability is a good reason to pirate.
other miscellaneous games removed from Steam + games never on Steam but released on PC
do you want to say you pirate all Origin/Uplay/Windows Store games? that i would find kind of stupid, actually. if you mean games that only came out on CD but never went digitally - sure, makes sense.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes I meant CD / DVD only games that never went digital.
Games such as Phantasy Star Universe (PC version) that I picked up recently for $1 from a Thrift Store.
If there was a digital version on Steam that's money that would have went to Sega.
Comment has been collapsed.
sure, that's understandable. i even find it ok if someone says he can only afford half his games and pirates the rest. i don't do it myself, but i can understand and tolerate it.

DVDs eventually decay, you really should look into 100GB MDiscs.
Link to MDisc
They are a bit pricy, but for long term storage without worrying about storage volatility, they're great.

If you want to give people money for their work but have no legal means to do so (no longer sold except on 2nd hand market) what are you to do?
Comment has been collapsed.
Just checked the only title mentioned in thread, still sold ¯\(ツ)/¯.
Do the fansubers pay original creators for their work, or do they rip asap and put on the internet? (or I misunderstood you, and you are saying that by pirating stuff, we are supporting original creators?)
That is hypocrisy.
And do not get me wrong, I have used in past fansubers work, but I am aware how it works (and again, I am not defending big companies, they are in many cases abusing young creators ;/).
Comment has been collapsed.
Fansubbers rip asap and post as fast as they can. I was speaking strictly for myself, as I don't use fansubs except for stuff that you can't get in this country and is a pain in the ass to import (plus the import wouldn't have the right region codes)
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, I don't say you can buy anything on amazon (or similar), but then there are services like crunchyroll and lot of japanese legally streaming websites. So claiming /not available/ for stuff that is 'live' on original market is a bit overstatement IMO.
Your original argument was
If you want to give people money for their work <
and the answer is not by pirating their work.
Comment has been collapsed.
Not everything can be legally streamed or purchased in every country, that's the entire point.
Buying directly from Amazon (not marketplace seller) might get money directly to the creators but I'm doubtful.
Comment has been collapsed.
still, not responding to my main point - pirating is not supporting creators (while every original product was/will pay off to publisher/creator). Using VPN and paying for official streaming is supporting, while piracy is supporting well piracy.
Comment has been collapsed.
You're also not understanding the point. If you have no legal option your only choice is to pirate, stream illegally, or not do anything.
Comment has been collapsed.
So let me understand - to your answer to question you posted is piracy?
Also, out of curiosity - which current show you cannot buy/watch legally?
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm not referring to current shows. You can always watch the current season at Crunchyroll or Funimation (almost everything)
I'm referring to past seasons that can't always be purchased or legally streamed.
Comment has been collapsed.
ok, so still you did not answered the question - is your answer is piracy?
Ok, so which shows you are really watching now that cannot be find? (and I trust you will be honest, no point looking for that one show really unavailable)
Comment has been collapsed.
One of my favorites that I can only buy second hand (which means no money goes to the creators) and no legal streams are available is s-CRY-ed.
Comment has been collapsed.
ok, but please answer your question - is the answer to question of your first reply is piracy in your opinion
also - every legally produced copy was support of creator, every downloaded from torrents/streamed from vimeo etc is not support of creators.
will look into that title - must be nice :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Just your average shounen title about boy with powers vs other people with
It does raise a few philosophical questions along the way though.
I've already responded to your question multiple times. Sometimes you literally cannot support the creators by legal means so your only choice is piracy.
Comment has been collapsed.
sorry for my pressure, so let me write this straight - piracy is supporting creators (in your opinion (question was - "If you want to give money to ppl for their work...").
Well, that might be your view, and your are fully entitled to think that way.
I don't agree ¯\(ツ)/¯. 2nd hand is support and it is not pirating.
And still using vpn and streaming from legal sources are better than illegal sources IMO.
Everyone have a choice that makes within their own morals and possibilities (yeah, in my book that counts also lol)
Again - not saying fansubs are all evil and so on. But stating that it is all good, and supporting is not true.

this...was one of the most calm and rational reaction's I've seen on the internet in awhile wew

Grim day for all the weebs , after years the owner of Nyaa seem to have finally given up under the pressure and just closed down the site ( at least that the official news circulating right now )
The domains seems to all be pending deletion as of this moment :|
Kinda worried about the next couple months until someone take over , most fansub groups used nyaa to get the base raws for subbing >.<
Uh well it is what it is , maybe the owner just saw the new Code Geass series trailer and shot himself in the head .,.. you know like any normal person would do .
Gibs 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 LVL 1+
PS: I dont want anyone starting the Piracy discussion or anything of the sorts ...
Update : https://twitter.com/BakaBT/status/859402452117979137
Seems like they are down for maintenance , or atleast thats the story they are going with for now >.>
