In this country stray dogs are a real problem.
There are LOTS of people severely bitten or slashed by those dogs, weekly. If you go outside during the night (~2AM) you'll be lucky enough to see packs of 9-10 dogs. If you get too close to them something nice will happen.

THIS is how someone who was bitten by these stray dogs look like: (oh please, click the pictures)

And this is a pack of dogs:
pic 1

So please don't be "omg i love doggies, they shouldn't kill them".
I LOVE dogs too, but these stray dogs are a real threat to anyone. During the winter it's even worse....
A human life is more important than a dog's life.

Like I understand kids being bitten ,because they see dogs and go 'Oooo DOGGGIES' ,but adults?? What you turned a dark allyway and a pack of dogs jumped you in hoodies? You could see/smell/hear a pack of 10 dogs ways away.

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, these packs of dogs took over main streets not dark alleyway...
And yep, you can see a pack of dogs from far away, but they can also see you, and they will start barking, and trust me, you WILL be afraid when you see 10 dogs barking at you.
Then you try to go on the other side of the street, or you may try to go back but you will meet other dogs...
This is during the night.

a bite to the neck causes sever bleeding and blood loss, so that is why dogs are deadly and are also used for police activities.

Stray dogs are not trained, like police dogs are.
And my counter argument is first if you are an adult why did the dog get to your neck in the first place, second if you kick a dog straight in the nose it will suffocate to death immediately, so dogs are not these trained assassins with no weaknesses you speak of.

That thing above happened to me. :) I was lucky enough to escape without a scratch...but that was simply because that pack of dogs met some other dogs and they started to bark at each other giving me enough time to leave the area. Since then i keep one airsoft pistol on my backpack... But i try to avoid being alone on the streets late at night.

Unfortunately the current solutions will never get us rid of the stray dogs entirely. The companies which have to handle the stray dogs are interested in keeping them alive and breeding so that they can keep receiving money. So the real solution would be to hire a company to keep the streets clean of the stray dogs. Keep them in kennels for what I care. I love dogs, but stray dogs are a separate issue and they have to be taken care of. Anyway this company then should receive money each month, when there were no stray dogs reported, or get penalties of payment if there were problems.
FIXED. Too bad the politicians are too corrupt to think about real solutions.

Get money from neutering, keep the demand high for removing a pack now and then, they also do a bad job at neutering because it's not in their interest and by removing they actually relocate.

Yes, exactly my point. If they are paid by the number of dogs sterilized or even killed, their best interest is to keep as many dogs alive as possible, so that they have something to do next month also.

We have had wild dog packs roam around our area before and ill tell you it is scary as shit. By no means as bad as the OP. We started to notice the dog packs picking off local house pets, dogs, etc so my town cleared them all out before it got worse. It cracks me up when people try to argue against clearing the dogs out. Yes someone is at fault for letting out a few dogs and letting them breed like crazy, but there is no fixing hostile dog packs. You remove them, and take the measures to make sure it does not occur again. There is no 'fixing' hundreds of wild dogs. Human life comes first before all other animals, not because we are superior, but because it is my own species.

^This. IF it were not for stupid humans there wouldnt be any stray dogs... But we have to agree that bands of stray dogs are dangerous and people care for their own safety and safety of their families.... so its sad that humans have to fix crap made by other people by killing of those dogs... but what have to done have to be done... To anyone who want to say it`s evil or whatever... think what would you say if your child/parent/someone from your family would get severly bitten/killed by those dogs.

This is really sad situation :(

Abandoning a dog doesn't make the dog angry, the more the dog spends on the streets there will come a day when some asshole some were will kick or mistreat that dog for no reason, because of this mentality of 'all dogs are going to kill you at night.'

There's no point in setting up shelters for these dogs, they're way beyond the point of return to become suitable housepets. They're too vicious by now.

Most of those pics aren't even bites by dogs. Also in 20 years, 3 men were killed by stray dogs. Everybody says that no solution other than mass murdering will get them off the streets, but everybody gets butthurt when the word shelter is mentioned. We just invested 2 MILIONS EUROS so the population can vote if they should mass murder or not. With 2 MILIONS, 1/2 of the dogs would already be in fucking shelters. Also, everybody says that they don't wanna pay for dogs in shelters, but they seem to like to pay for churches made everyday for no reason or murderers and rapists in prisons.

Shelters for half the dogs with 2 million euros? I hope that includes caretakers and the stuff that would be needed to treat, feed, and clean all of those dogs.

Seriously, it would be cheaper to kill all the strays.

So we care more about money instead of the fact that it's a fucking mass murder? You can simply put prison guys to take care of them, for no money, since we are the ones paying their stay in prison. A simple solution for feeding the dogs is to make a partnership with restaurants: they give you the food that remains at the rest of the day for a very small sum of money, dogs here eat anything.

Why should we even care about the "rights" of dangerous animals? 90% of them can't be re-educated in any way and are not longer capable of having non-violent interactions with a human; why should we spend even one euro in keeping them alive when they are a threat to anybody that gets close?

Like any animal, humans must react to a threat to their territory, even if it one they created. If they do not react, then they will begin to cede that territory to the threat. This is true even when the threat is a different tribe of humans. When the threat is another tribe of humans, it is called war, and 16,000 is a rounding error when counting the number of dead during war.

In this case, the ceding would begin with a recommendation that children not go anywhere alone. Followed by recommendations to avoid certain parts of the city. Slowly through such means giving away more and more territory to the dogs.

I already have 2 adopted dogs and when I will move in a bigger house I will most likely get another one. A lot of people want to adopt dogs. There's an online adoption site that has a lot of succes. If the government made shelters and a website where they presented the dogs, the adoption rate would rise.

It would rise, but they would never be able to get all the dogs adopted. That is impossible, I guarantee it.

People "adopt" dogs from the shelter only to release them afterwards. There should be some real punishments for this behavior.
Also if a dog is in a shelter and nobody adopts him for 30 days he should be killed.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That's why they should put microchips on them, and if an adopted dog is found on the street, the owner would be fined big time. But why think logical if we can just kill them all instead?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Because at the moment there are just too many stray dogs. Kill all these, and after that we can put chips in them, we can make laws against abandoning the dogs.

Right now it's too late to care about these dogs. We have to get rid of them so we can take care of the future ones.

Permalink

Oh glory, microchips too! Now it will be more expensive than building that fucking cathedral you showed me.

2 million euros for half the dogs, which means 4 million for all of them (The price of the cathedral). Add microchips for every single dog, and BOOM you just now proved why the dogs should be killed

The price for the cathedral is 400 MILIONS, not 4. Also, they already do the microchip thing, but they just let the dogs on the streets again instead of keeping them in shelters.

Your airplane has crashed, you are alone with anther survivor and one dog and no food.

Which one would you consider more "ethical" to eat? The one that doesn't look that much like yourself; it's just self persevation instinct; we are responsible for those equal to us before any other animal.

Other example, a building is on fire. You are a fireman and can only take one living being out of the window and to the emergency ladders. You encounter in the same room a baby and a dog.

Are you going to tell me you would think it twice before leaving the dog behind and saving the baby?
