wellcome to this topic guys there are some questions wich makes us to think atleast some of us ask this question over and over from ourselves

what is the purpose of life ? shouldnt we ask ourselves ? does it worth the thinking ? (are you satisfied with what youve found in your life rather than only living having a job getting married grow old and die ) should we consider after that ? do we have souls ? whats the point of living if we`re going to die just like animals !! can you even imagine to be dead for ever i cant describe nor find a right answer for it

now i think humans have soul and there is an after life im not satisfied by this living and dying without a purpose i mean there should be a big one otherwise whats the diffrent between us and animals dont forget that we have the capability to think and our will is absoulute wich no other species have i believe in god and somehow i do want to believe there is an afterlife cause i dont find a point in it if there is non ! these are questions i`ve asked like thousands times in years after some incidents wich made my mind clear that i was looking for a wrong purpose

how many people believe in god ? how many of you looks for an answer do you even care ??
sorry for poor english

Hello! NPC!(o'Θ'o)ノ))
You are a resident of Sims Earth made by us aliens.💻🌏
Sometimes I roll back when the data is corrupted for a long time.
At that time, it is "eternal absence proof". sorry.

And your collective wisdom defines such an answer.
(I think, therefore I am ?Cogito, ergo sum!)
You doubt everything.
So you have a question.(人Θ'o)

I hope you believe in what you believe.
(You may believe in me and become a service creature forever)

But the counsel is "don't believe in things that hurt others."
There are many humans who unknowingly create a group of "what they believe in" and threaten the lives of others.┐(´Θ`)┌Oh....

By the way, there are things I can see from the display behind me.
I may also be a creature in the box called Sim Alien.

Everyone is good friends.
Let's share delicious food together.🍰🍫🥒

I don't think people can fully comprehend not existing after death, I certainly can't. But I do believe that's what happens, when we die our consciousness ceases to exist.

Rather than making our lives meaningless it means that the actions we take are all the more important. I believe that my purpose in life is to act to make things better in my own lifetime for myself, my family and humanity in general. As to my efficacy in achieving this, I'm not so sure. But I have to do my best to bring this about in my single lifetime.

Human beings not only capable of thinking, as species we have self-awareness and ability to model situations with our participation without actually going through them physically. Some call the latter "human super-power". Maybe this is why we often have "what is the meaning" or "what if" question.

Meaning of life will be different for each of us, since we look on it through prism of our previous experience. Our decisions throughout our life makes us who we are. It is OK to feel lost. Many go through it, many find different solutions to their crisis. I am trying to find mine while listening to wise people, scientists and influencers; readying books about physiology, religion, human biology. Sometimes even fictional literature can shade some lite - we are as rational creatures as we are emotional. Call it "my personal way to find a purpose", since I have trouble to find it on my own. Perception of this world can change with one simple idea.

What is the purpose of life? Well you have to live it out to understand.
Its different for everyone...and you have to discover it for yourself. But were all here to help shape the world in our own little / large way. Though sometimes we go off-course.

I believe in science and science proves there is a God. But its degenerated into more of an effort to explain away His existence.
You're not here because some random galactic explosion happened by accident. You're too unique and intelligent to be a product of chance.
Its a lot like gravity or the shape of the earth. Admitting there is a God or not is irrelevant. He is.

No, it doesn't. There is not a single piece of actual evidence that proves the existence of a god.

You're not here because some random galactic explosion happened by accident. You're too unique and intelligent to be a product of chance.

How would being unique and/or intelligent explain god? There is simply no correlation there. And we can perfectly well explain how we became so intelligent - with Evolution. It's just natural progession.

I can't imagine what is going on in peoples mind saying there is no purpose or point in life. the biggest lie people get told are that this perfectly creation of the universe is a mere coincidence. a mere luck or random. How can these completely perfectly balanced, complicated mechanisms and interactions of things be a mere coincidence?
Do you believe if you just wait long enough, give or take a couple of billion years that out of shear luck a perfectly working intricate life form is created?
My point is someone is controlling it. someone is doing it actively. like a programmer who wrote the code of a program and the program is working.
We are here to see with our senses, to be amazed of all the things that the creator have created. to be grateful that we got the chance to be part of this and to experience this. People who dont believe in this cant find any meaning in their life because they are so stubborn or have the wrong type of pride to admit the truth. Just because you are blind doesnt mean there is no light. Not everything you see seems how it is and not everything you cant see is not there.
People who are not so dismissive towards believes which hearts reject to be open minded can feel it. they can feel that there is something and that there is more after life.
Some people are just so selfcentered that they think that everything they want must be done or there is no god. that everything has to be perfect for them. easy and without struggle. it is kind of ironic. how can you expect to get rewarded if everything in life is easy.
It is like you are taking an exam and you are not prepared even though the teacher gave you all the materials you needed to pass it but you dont want to learn you dont want to follow the rules of the exam and you still expect to get an A. There is no reward without struggle. Nothing is free. you have to do something for it.
Most people have fallen to their instincts and live like animals from day to day. the only things they are thinking about is food, sleep and sex. What makes you different if you just do as an animal? We have to be better and we have to show that we are more than that.

How can these completely perfectly balanced, complicated mechanisms and interactions of things be a mere coincidence?

So your argument is basically "I can't explain it, therefore god". Not a good argument.

Do you believe if you just wait long enough, give or take a couple of billion years that out of shear luck a perfectly working intricate life form is created?

We are not perfectly working. Our bodies have numerous faults. We are anything but perfect.

And Evolutions explains how we came to be. Life did not start with intricate life forms. It started simple and then got more and more complex over time thanks to random mutation and natural selection.

My point is someone is controlling it. someone is doing it actively. like a programmer who wrote the code of a program and the program is working.

There is absolutely no indication for that whatsoever. Again, the mere fact that you cannot explain certain things does not point to a concious creator in any way.

People who are not so dismissive towards believes which hearts reject to be open minded can feel it. they can feel that there is something and that there is more after life.

People imagine lots of things. That does not make them true.

Most people have fallen to their instincts and live like animals from day to day. the only things they are thinking about is food, sleep and sex. What makes you different if you just do as an animal? We have to be better and we have to show that we are more than that.

Not sure what you are saying here. Are you referring to atheists, implying that without religion they don't have any meaning to their life and only follow their basic instincts? That's what it sounds like. Nothing could be further from the truth, of course.

my argument is not i cant explain it therefore god. my argument is that the universe and all the things that make it work from the big bang until now is not a random thing that happened. even thinking about it leaves no room for coincidence. there is a higher being who did it.

also with perfectly working i mean the mechanisms. the extremely intricate biochemical reactions that are occuring every moment in every life form. of course we are not perfect. if we would be we wouldnt die. but that is not how things are and should be. every living thing will taste death.

Are you familiar with the Infinite-Monkey-Theorem? Thats what evolutionists believe. through random mutations in the dna things start to evolve.

There are millions of indications for god but people who closed their hearts cant see it even though life all around us shows it.

it is the truth. look at society. what does the daily life of the majority of people look like? they are trying to forget about the truth that they one day will die with drugs and there existens have no meaning because they cant find a purpose in life.

at the end of the day i cant show you god. if god would show himself it wouldnt be a test anymore and people like you would just follow him out of fear and not because you found god through on your own and follow his rules to please him and be grateful for your existence. but god is merciful and i can pray that you one day will find the right path and be happy to have found a true purpose in life not one you lie to yourself every day to not go insane that you one day will die and face the truth.

I called it a wall of BS because of the condensening tone you have used in your text.

And no, if you did not rush to reply, you might have comprehended that what I meant was that your arguments lack any factual background, which I feel was apparent but sorry if I was not clear. It's fine if you want to believe in whatever, but going around and calling people self centered, animals and such just because they don't conform to your values is a tad impolite, especially coming form someone who is trying to make an argument that people should crave for more than 'satisfying their earthly desires'.

like i can tell the reason you called it a wall of bullshit. lol its not like you are sitting in front of me. calling peoples opinion a wall of bullshit is not the way to start a conversation. you expect me to respect you as a person? then respect others first. insults me directly and then cries that i didnt think of the deeper meaning of wall of BS... lol. what a joke.
and that line with animals is nothing personal. i was saying it in general and most of people. if you count yourself in it then its fine to me but dont twist my words.

The purpose is just creating your own purpose, life on earth is just a happy little accident, we should enjoy it and create our own meaning!

Don't wait for an afterlife, just go out and seek a meaning that will make you happy! It could be helping others, making art, writing a book, working in science, falling in love or playing as many videogames as possible. Freedom is frightening and awesome!

The answer to the meaning of life is very simple and has always been a simple word away.

"The meaning of life is to find meaning IN life".

The answer means that each person's unique situation allows their meaning to be different and lacks a universal answer. This is because we are all different, even those of us that come from similar backgrounds have different goals. Some may want to simply coast while others aspie to achieve. Some want families while others want to get promoted at their places of employment. But to each desire or goal, is a unique meaning in itself that may or may not seem useful to others but instead to the individual(s) who seek that goal. This is why I believe the answer is what I wrote above. By finding meaning in your life, you find the meaning of life itself.

As the replies in here show, there are as many perceived purposes (or lack thereof) as there are people.
So in a way, one chooses their own purpose, either through the belief that they are in control or that they are not.

Personally I don't have much sense of direction for my life and I thought it made me an outcast, and outliar, but by sharing and talking with other people, and getting interested in philosophy and self-help, I discovered that it's an issue that really permeates society.

In a way, no matter what you believe your purpose is, what life means, if anything is even worth it, well in the end it all boils down to experience, outlook and emotions. Your actions may either benefit you in the present or the future, and choosing if you prefer to remain grounded in the present pleasures (a more hedonistic point of view) or to work now to secure a future (some purpose towards life satisfaction) is entirely up to you. And being influenced and pressured by society, peers, your own mind, is just a set of additional challenges that constantly create doubt. But if you do what you truly value and you accept that not everyone will agree with you, you're on the right track to accepting yourself and living a life that is meaningful to you, regardless of the ultimate purpose of life.

I realize that I dodged the question.
But let's imagine that there really was a right answer to the question "What is the purpose of life?"
No matter who knows the right answer to it, there will always be others who will believe otherwise.
So any answer will ultimately be subjective because there is no way to know for sure.
Basically I'm dodging the question again just to say that any answer I give is not relevant, even if it was the right one ^^.

Absolutely nothing.

Most humans are too weak to admit their whole existance is just pure luck and nothing ever means anything.

100 years is nothing compared to the age of the universe. Nobody will remember you 100 years later. You're nothing, you're living for nothing, you came from nothing and you'll go to nothing.

Believe in whatever makes you happy, but it won't change the fact that your whole existance is meaningless.

There is no purpose, just enjoy your brief time in this planet and let others enjoy their time too.

In a way, since we are still studying theories that were thought of thousands of years ago, still benefitting from inventions made a long long time ago, it shows that there is a way for a human to have an impact on what follows for millenia.
What seems to be a benign commodity for a person one day, that didn't mean a grandiose purpose at first, might still turn out to be huge in the end.
And if we have a more deterministic point of view (along the lines of the butterfly effect) then everything and everyone that came before us had an impact on making the universe the way it is right now, and the same way, our presence and actions right now will influence the universe forever.
