Yay! Greece are through!!! We get to watch more of their trademark park the bus style!! /s :-/

Match stats
That doesn't look like a park the bus style...

Yeah, not this match maybe, but it's their default go-to style like vs Japan. They won Euro 2004 parking the bus and grinding out 1-0 wins. Heck, that's basically how they qualified for the World Cup here. The only reason they played like they did today was because they were on the verge of elimination and because Cote'd Ivoire aren't solid in the back anyway so why not. In the knockout stages, they'll probably go back to their park the bus style. I hope they don't though.

About the match vs Japan it was 10 players vs 11, therefore it was kinda hard for the greeks to push forward.
You're right about 10 years ago in Euro 2004, but that was a different team with a different coach and frankly I don't think that there was any other team back then that had a dramatic difference in terms of quality.

If the bus must be parked, it will. Creative play is based on the talent one has and on how much the opponent permits you to show it. Since the Otto era, Greeks adopted a cynical way in their playstyle. Hold back and take your chances in offense. It's a way to get RESULTS. Especially when talent is not abundant. But this shows commitment and tactics. Something that more talented teams lack.
Well at least Greece gets results. Unlike some other "Quality" teams.

well, i think they should have passed the group phase minimum, but yes i see some similarities with 1986 team, at least speaking about the bad taste it left me

We made max 6 shots on goal in 3 games so.. You're right. We really played only against England (4 shots on goal only in that match), Costa Rica deserved to win and we played for the draw against Uruguay.
From Moreno (2002) to Moreno I would say. There was a penalty on Cavani, then the red card to Marchisio (seriously?) and then Suarez's bite.
Balotelli did nothing to change the match but he had no one supporting him, Immobile didn't play much better.

I couldn't agree more about Balotelli.
He wasn't at his best, but even a good player like him can't help it if the rest of the team had poor performance.
@AltairITA I understand that you are disapointed about the outcome, but I have to say that Balotelli is far from being an idiot (football wise).

That's ridiculous. Why do Liverpool have to suffer for something he did for Uruguay? Fucking FIFA. Makes no sense.

Looking forward to this. Things have been ridiculous the last few days. Win a couple of games, you're the best in the world. Everyone's a football fan all of a sudden.

What a sweat! Well that's a big WHEW. GG group of death, what's up world

You would have to fancy yourselves having a really decent chance against Belgium. Belgium have really struggled against defensive sides so far.

WOW Belgium Red Card and game still tied with South Korea man advantage

Yay Russia. Why oh why is their offence so utterly rubbish. I mean their defence. I mean... oh, hello, England.
Algeria looked much better in their previous matches. They'll certainly need something better than a bus and a bunch of face-painted fans praying to Allah to beat Germany. Gods have their limits.

What a fantastic Group stage, cheers to everyone all around. Awesome cup thus far

Tomorrow my country play against Brazil... oh boy. If we manage to win, I'll make a pretty decent giveaway.

"If more "Americans" are watching soccer today, it's only because of the demographic switch effected by Teddy Kennedy's 1965 immigration law. I promise you: No American whose great-grandfather was born here is watching soccer. One can only hope that, in addition to learning English, these new Americans will drop their soccer fetish with time."
I love it! This woman has 10 (U.S) bestsellers.

Holy shit, I was laughing so hard reading that article out loud. Hahahaha, Ann Coulter you dumb bitch.

She's just a professional troll. I still think scoreless ties are the worst thing in all of sports, but its just silly to say that its not really catching on. And the fact that its not individual-driven is part of what I really enjoy. I loathe the showboating in the NBA and when some tool like Ronaldo tries doing some fancy footwork, resulting in nothing, I just want to slap him and his overly manicured eyebrows.

It's fantastic! People must buy her books for the comedy.
"Soccer is like the metric system, which liberals also adore because it's European. Naturally, the metric system emerged from the French Revolution, during the brief intervals when they weren't committing mass murder by guillotine."
Soccer = European = French = committing mass murder.
It's just awesome.
