Silly Ecuador had completely closed up shop before Switzerland's breakaway, this is why the sport is amazing. Haha, not one match has been a tie yet

Dayuuuuuuuuuuum own goal in the second minute of your World Cup debut. Really doesn't get much bigger of a bummer than that :(

That monologue before the match by Kiefer Sutherland... gutsy. "They call it the group of death... because WE'RE in it".

hahaha, i love it. I wanted to post that vid but I can't find a link for it

Cannot believe we scored so quickly
REALLY can't believe Jozy screwed his hamstring and Dempsey got kicked in the fucking face

Agreed, but what match isn't stressful? Lol. Still, look at the bright side. Parking the bus is a natural thing for the U.S in general. Maybe they score a second from a counter? Good match so far.

Is it just me, or is every one of the U.S players getting injured somewhere?

it's pretty ludicrous how dehydrated most people on the planet are a majority of the time
Comment has been collapsed.
True enough. Although a big part of that has to do with a lack of access to clean freshwater, but even people with running water in their house rarely drink enough. I've spent enough time in deserts and jungles to know well the value of water, and I still drink a ton of it.

Well, They did it!!! Honestly, the U.S can lose the next 2 and this will still feel like a victory. FINALLY!!! Ghana has been beaten! Only took 8 years!! :D

Hell yeah!
Now if the US gets at least a draw against Portugal, the way out of the group becomes much easier. If Germany does beat Ghana as expected, assuming the US can draw with Portugal, Germany will go into the final game with the US with little to play for. A draw there guarantees 2nd in the group and even a loss isn't crippling as long as it isn't a one sided disaster, since Portugal would need to completely smash Ghana to make up for that goal differential after getting walloped by Germany.

... and if Klinsi asks nicely his friend Jögi will give him a point ;)

Here we go. Let's see if this Belgian side is as special as I've heard.

Watching on the ESPN app at work (it's actually pretty awesome), both teams looking good. Belgian uniforms are dope

So far it's been Brazil jamming and Mexico scrambling. Should be a good game if Mexico wakes up

Haha, futbol all day every day!! Meanwhile this match has become a slugfest

I've started watching soccer, because I need something to watch during the long off-season for college football. Baseball and basketball are both terrible. One's incredibly dull and the other is far too much of an individual sport, with the worst reffing of any sport. NBA games have looked fixed for years. So I didn't have many options.
The Portland Timbers joining MLS at least gave me a local team to root for, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

Yeah I really enjoy MLS actually. It's obviously a lower bar than the top leagues, but it still manages to be competitive (and fun).
The big boys are truly awesome though; BPL, Bundislega, and La Liga are the bomb
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't deny that the skill level is much higher in the top leagues, but I just have a hard time watching anything unless I have someone to root for. That's why I don't really watch the NFL, even though I like football. I don't have anything vaguely resembling a home team.

They'll make it to the second round most likely but they'll get smashed by Netherlands if they get the second seed in the group. Even if they get the first seed in their group they won't make it past the third round. Only thing keeping them alive is the refs.

What are you talking about? This was a perfect example of a nil-nil game that's awesome
