I want to try and learn japanese, but I have trouble starting off, same way like I have trouble starting off anything I do, actually. Share your language learning experiences!

Oh, wow, is this a giveaway?!

Being a total grammar nazi, that actually hurt to read.
Sometimes I wish I cared less but with languages I just can't. >_<

Well, I don't understand it, so that doesn't really count.

That makes more sense than making up random Dragon speech, doesn't it? :(

You made that up? I couldn't tell.
I also had to Google Drem Yol Lok.
Not fluent in that, I'm afraid. :)

Yeah, it says something like "I speak my own language. The Dragon language."
I would actually like to just make up a language just for fun. It would take some time, though. :P

Picked up Influent (Japanese) a while back, maybe I'll finally load that up and learn a few words.

Afrikaans (native) and English (thanks to a mandatory second language at school). I can understand Dutch and Flemish.

are dutch and flemish easy to pick up when you speak afrikaans natively? as a non-speaker I can't really tell them apart :x

Flemish is easier to understand of the two. If Dutch is spoken very quickly it can be hard to follow.

I have a terrible grasp of my native language, English, and I took German but I suck at learning languages.

I only consider myself fluent in English. I can speak conversational French and Spanish and can swear in Dutch Rushan and Klingon.

I can barely speak my own primary language, according to some people in my country. Accents are a funny thing \:3/

I really wouldn't mind learning a few langauges, but I have terrible memory. Remembering names is a struggle for me, and I'm pretty sure it's due to my daydreamish nature. Unless I have regular contact with a person where their name may get mentioned, it gets assigned to the "not important" pile in my brain. Worked in my current office for 15 months and it isn't that big, maybe 30 people in our room, and I only know just under half their names. Then again, I'm pretty driven at the tedious task, so unimportant things get flushed out easily.

Shame really.

Speakwise Im fluent in 2 languages. Grammarwise Im fluent in only 1.

I dont know why but I have this huge problem that when I write stuff in english sometimes I forget to write some words that give sense to the whole sentence. And sometimes it makes me look retarded... (this doesnt happen when I speak english, only when typing)

Im looking for a new language to learn but I dont know which language could be useful and easy to learn. Im thinking on french but Im not sure.
