If you could get instant fluency in any language which one would you pick?
I'd pick Danish for sentimental reasons. My mother learned it as a child when she lived there for a couple years. She always spoke about going back there for some time when she had retired... sadly she didn't live long enough.
If I'd pick a language for practical reasons I'd most like choose french or spanish.

spanish or italian would be my number 1s simply cuz family on both sides and learning languages was never my specialty in school. other choice would be japanese because one day id love to spend time there. Food, culture, architecture and their geography is something id love to experience

I learned Katakana on my own, could learn more if I want to, but not in the mood to.
I know Arabic, so I don't have to learn that.
Restarted my interest in German, and I intend to fully learn it, so not going wish to instantly learn it.
Then there's Chinese. Another language that is very huge and great for business. So i'd like to learn Chinese.

Definitely Japanese. I'm actually learning it now and I'm already able to communicate on a regular basis. But still, it's my favourite language and one of my dreams is to be able to master it completely. And it seems that I'm not the only one who thinks this way as I can see that there are many others who choose Japanese from the results

Chinese would probably be the most useful to me, followed by Russian, German & Portuguese.
Icelandic would be fun to learn though, if for no other reason than because it would be such an unexpected language for someone to know. Latin would also be fun, as it would help me read a few more historical sources (though that would again be a "just for fun" kind of thing).

You find a genie in a bottle, but he's a special genie, he only deals in language wishes. So he will grant you instant fluency in any language of your choice, along with accent of your choice if applicable. You will be able to speak it, read it, write it, as if you were a native speaker.
It has to be a real language on Earth, no fake ones. No Klingon or Dwarvish or anything like that.
And before you complain that such-and-such language isn't in the poll keep in mind that I can only have 20 options. I googled to find the languages with the most number of speakers. But I also grouped some together, such as languages of India. I included an option for "Other" if the one you want isn't one of the poll options, but make sure you read over every option first because there are some "others" that are specific to a region of the world. Feel free to list it in the comments if you want.
No potato option. No giveaway. This is just to see what other people would choose because I'm curious.
