1st pick - Chinese. There is a lot of chinese people in my country. Not A LOT but still their bussiness here is growing and growing. Even the main energy suplier company is Chinese.
2nd pick - Russian, so I could insult them in their native language >:)
3rd pick - German. My dad learned German while at work there and I always wanted to learn too, even tho I hate my dad and stuff.
4h and last - Japanese. Because anime and stuff. Also the insane amount of games that are never translated to English.

if i was going to pick one that would help me the best i would go Spanish, I live in Southern California and if you know both english and spanish then some jobs are insta-hire. If I picked on personal choice it would be Japanese, i enjoy anime and it would be nice not to always have subs on.

Languages I've learned either in school or at university within the last 15 years:
English
French
German
Spanish
Latin
Chinese
Today I only two of those left I'm fluent in. Stopped practicing/using the other ones with native/foreign language speaking people :(
Maybe Italian when I got time again as a new one

It would be Japanese, I love Japan, but I picked the languange, because japanese people they would be likely extinct.. Their birth rate is so low and the youngsters seems to not want to get married. Their goverment starts to worries and trying to help with a dating program. But, I think it didn't work.. yet. I hope it really help, cause I love Japan. I don't want their culture to be extinct.
So I picked that language, because who knows things maybe get worse and just a few people in the wolrd could translate their language and culture. BANZAII!!! XD

I'd prefer to be able to speak any animal language.

Estonian, definitely. It's the most onomatopoetic language I know. Just hear yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLgVuCve5gU
And I'd love to read Betti Alver or A. H. Tammsaare in original. Oh and it's fu*king hard to find english subtitles for many estonian movies:-P

Mandarin. I'm already learning German, and I'd prefer to keep at that without magic. Polish and Farsi are tempting, but they're both less distant from English (and German) than Mandarin is, so I have a better chance of learning those the usual way. Of course, Turkish and Estonian are also distant... Bah, I just want to learn every one.

C# or PHP, not sure which would be more useful to me at the moment.

I would like to be fluent in Mandarin.
Fun fact: Japanese is the easiest language to learn to speak and understand (they have a very simple grammar and a very limited amount of words (compared to other languages); note that I'm not talking about reading and writing). Chinese is the hardest (it's a lifetime task to learn Mandarin).

You find a genie in a bottle, but he's a special genie, he only deals in language wishes. So he will grant you instant fluency in any language of your choice, along with accent of your choice if applicable. You will be able to speak it, read it, write it, as if you were a native speaker.
It has to be a real language on Earth, no fake ones. No Klingon or Dwarvish or anything like that.
And before you complain that such-and-such language isn't in the poll keep in mind that I can only have 20 options. I googled to find the languages with the most number of speakers. But I also grouped some together, such as languages of India. I included an option for "Other" if the one you want isn't one of the poll options, but make sure you read over every option first because there are some "others" that are specific to a region of the world. Feel free to list it in the comments if you want.
No potato option. No giveaway. This is just to see what other people would choose because I'm curious.
