Do you frequently make use of the "hide giveaways" button?
I USED TO use it to hide games I knew I didn't want. TBH that's a wasteful use of it most of the time. Most of the absolute garbage I'd never want is OBVIOUSLY stuff I'd never want (sports games, shooters, etc). A lot of it is stuff that they stopped making key codes for 10 or more years ago. I used to hide games that showed up too much and took up lots of screen space. Nowadays there's so many different titles from so many different sites that games I don't want don't bother me. I'd prefer not to make the web server have to work so hard consulting a list of several thousand titles each time it shows the list of giveaways. Nowadays I only use it that way if the title SOUNDS LIKE something I'd want to play but I look at it and it isn't (totally wrong genre, completely negative ratings, etc).
What I really use it for nowadays is the most useful use there is! To hide DLCs I already own. If I click a DLC (which Steamgifts has no way of knowing I own) and I already own it, I hide it. Likewise with the occasional bundle I've got everything within (say I've got the GOTY edition or whatever they call that "game + all the DLC there is" pack.

Hitting 10,000 hidden items hidden on SG seemed a lot but that's rookie numbers compared to others here!

Thanks for replying - not sure... maybe it was removed from Steam? Enjoy your random game anyway I suppose?

I have good memories of playing Top Trumps as a kid too!
...I'm gonna order some for my kids now so they can enjoy some old-school entertainment.

That's rather good advice. I once thought I wouldn't like visual novels, until I tried a copy of Dream Daddy that I got from Humble Bundle. Now I'll happily give them a chance. Same with other genres and different game types.
Similar happened with the second Postal game. I was told by many people that it's shit, but I had fun with it once I tried it out. My only issue with it at the time was it used to take forever to load new areas. Of course RWS fixed that in recent versions of PII, which is nice.

Yep! It was years back, but they improved a few things for their Steam release, one of which was loading times.

15,283 in a bit under 3 years.
I remember signing up on the site and just endlessly scrolling through things I'd never play. Didn't take me too long to start making use of the filter to hide a good chunk of it. I do the same on Steam though not quite as fervently these days. Between what I already own on my steam account, other clients, and a number of consoles, I already struggle to play my libraries.
Doing it like this makes me a bit picky sure, but at the same time, I'm more likely to play anything I win in a 'reasonable' window.

"Only" 22,639 hidden so far. Giving that mouse button a workout.

Yes, but I don't hide nearly as much as I'd like to. I usually only hide games after I've read reviews to see if they're utter shit, just not my thing, are so broken that it's not worth trying, or have some sort of content that ruins the entire package. Though I will sometimes auto-hide games with shit titles like MILF Futanari Pussy Puzzle 42069, or ones with terribly lazy screenshots and banner art, since those tend to be crap 99.999% of the time.
I think I've hidden something like 1k games and DLC.
Edit: I just counted, and it's almost 700 games hidden. So not quite 1k.

I counted one page, then saw how many pages of ignored games I have. I then multiplied to get my current number.
Dear lord, that'd be something to manually count!
Just so everyone knows, the default number of games is 25 per page.
Edit: I checked again, and yep. 25.

I try to avoid general giveaways because I mostly join Wishlist giveaways but I still have 9k+ hidden in there. Too many generic spam games on Steam now.

Certainly it's a good feature, I'd be messing around hundreds of unwanted giveaways otherwise. Reaching almost 10,000 by now. I see, depending on luck and day, about 1-5 to up to 10-15 previously unseen by me games in giveaways, so I am unsure you'd be able to get to 40k by 2025, but you have good chances.
Of your train I only entered for one; I'm not level 8, and the rest were already owned or marked as hidden. But of course, thanks for both the post and the train, and happy 30k!

30,005 to be exact, games and DLCs that I have hidden on Steamgifts.
I hide a lot of giveaways because I really only enter for games I'm going to play and probably enjoy.
I'm really not interested in a lot of genres on Steam, and I find myself hiding more and more games.
Hidden object? No thanks. Visual novel? Nah. Hentai tentacle milf puzzle? No for the 100th time, seriously stop already.
Anyway, as I said last time, people like me hiding games is a good thing for some of you that want to add to your ever-growing collection. It's good that Steamgifts gives everyone the choice to pick and choose what they like, and whether you're just entering giveaways for +1 to your library, or you've had it wishlisted for months, or you just can't resist another open-world early access survival crafting game... go for it. Enjoy the games, enjoy entering and giving away something, because there's always someone who will appreciate winning. The giveaways keep on flowing thanks to tens of thousands of awesome Steamgifts members.
For newcomers, or those who forgot, you can find how many games you have hidden here:

And you can change your filter settings here:

2016: I had hidden over 9000! games, which was cause for my first celebration of this kind.
2019: I hit 20,000 and figured it was a good reason for another celebratory giveaway discussion thread.
2022: Yay, 30,000 fewer games clogging up my front page!
2025: Can I make it to 40,000? Probably, considering how many games are released each month.
So I guess you were hoping there might be some AAA giveaways in here? Sorry to disappoint. It really wouldn't be fitting, would it?
But if you're looking for some hot trash, I've got your covered! (Just kidding, there's some good ones in here too, some of which I own already)
All aboard...
