How has no one recommended A Plague Tale: Innocence yet?
You are taken through a journey with some pretty awesome landscapes and it has a good story. There is some stealth combat but very simple.

The biggest emotional impact had for me "This War of Mine" ( https://store.steampowered.com/app/282070/This_War_of_Mine/ ).
It have, later, a few fights in it too and a ""end"" in form of war that are all around but i want to recommend it anyway to you because of the art style, the presentation, the thoughts behind the game, the brilliant way to deliver that thoughts and the emotional impact that hit you and starts your own thoughts about such things.

Not sure how you like puzzle games (i saw someone recommended the witness tho), but maybe the Talos Principle? And like someone else mentioned, A Plague Tale: Innocence is a great story game with little combat.

I'm assuming you've already tried Enslaved?? The game is so gripping from the start to end and the gameplay isn't bad either!
Edit: Saw you don't like combat. Have you trued Everybody's gone to Rapture?? It's as good of a walking sim as it gets! Also, EA just released a lot of their library on Steam. You could check out Unravel, Fe and Sea of Solitude!

Highly recommend Walking Dead. The ending of the first season is huge. I won it here on steamgifts and am hoping to win the other games at some point.

These aren't like the game you've mentioned but!
Stories Untold is a really cool game, has a bunch of different neat mechanics. It's basically 4 stories with different ideas(mechanics each - first one, for example, is basically an interactive fiction game. Has some light horror elements, and is weirdly entertwined - basically a little experiment.
Smile for Me is more of a fun little exploration game with some puzzle elements - you basically interact with a bunch of other characters in The Habitat, trying to get them to smile. It may seem a little dumb but its still nice to pass a little bit of time and maybe laugh a little.
I'd recommend Kona but it does have some combat. It's not a very combat focused game, don't get me wrong, it's mostly exploration, but you do have to fend away wolves for example, which you don't have to necessarily fight but yno. You are a detective that is called to a little town in Canada to investigate some vandalism cases from an old rich man, but when you get there the town is empty. Mostly walking simulator, small horror elements, but it's still quite interesting

There is a lot of recommendations I can wholeheartedly agree with!
From those I have played lately:
Valiant Hearts: The Great War™ / Soldats Inconnus : Mémoires de la Grande Guerre™ - Amazing story about the Great war, about hope, about the journey home.
Degrees of Separation - this is also story about journey and searching, best played in co-op

Old game with a beautiful atmosphere even for today's standards. I think it fits your description.
Hope I helped

Well, I played my win called RAZED (https://store.steampowered.com/app/726710/RAZED/) around February, and it was fun. A lot of fun.
It's a 3D platformer about running while keeping momentum and giong through levels one after another. Every couple levels, player unlocks a new power (speed up, walk on walls...). Upgrades to those powers are lying around the maps waiting for the persistent or the curious, but sometimes can't be gathered until later in game. Apart from reflexes, you have to of course think about your next move, but imo, the best part of the game is the one that challenges you the most - time based ranking system. While there are some players that rely totally on exploitation of in game mechanics, there's a lot to be gained by just thinking up shortcuts or alternative ways - and achieving that brings a lot of satisfaction.
To sum it up: speed, reflexes, exploration, thinking, looking, trying, challenge.

Did u play The Witness
A masterpiece for those who love journey-focused, explore the environment, solving beautiful puzzles to unfold the surprising stories behind.
No enemy, tricky and wonderful puzzles are your enemies around this fantastic island. Truly a must play ❤

Wow, so many great recommendations already (Ethan Carter, The Witness, Fez, Last Day of June, etc.). Somone also mentioned 80 Days, I definitely second that as a very good game.
One hidden gem I haven't seen in this thread is Papo & Yo -- it is not too long, but it does fit the "emotional impact" category, I think. Check the trailer, do not read the reviews (for a "clean slate" experience), and let us know later if you enjoyed it. :D :D
Cheers!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/557600/Gorogoa/
It's a four-dimensional puzzle game where you move and combine tiles containing different scenes to advance a story told only through visuals.
The creator said he could never come up with a good elevator pitch for Gorogoa, but I'd say mine is pretty decent. :^)
Also check out Hotel Dusk and Last Window on the DS if you haven't.

I won Night in the Woods here a few months ago, it became one of my favourite wins. I absolutely loved it, brilliant writing! 😁
(The guitar mini game is awful though... 😣)

I came here to recommend this as well. It's a game where the journey is more important than the goal, and it's a journey to remember. Excellent recommendation in my opinion.

Well I am glad you have mentioned Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons.
Degrees of Separation is a local cooperative 2-player 2D puzzle platformer with beautiful graphics, featuring an interesting story and unique game elements. Unlike Brothers it's much easier to play alone, if you don't have somebody to play with, as you don't have to control both the characters at the same time, but can switch between them. I have found playing it quite relaxing.
If you are into point&click games, try Gray Matter It's like a journey starting from like giving up everything to reach a dream goal and getting accepted by a secret society. You can also learn some magic tricks on your way :) A far as I remember, the use of items is quite logical and your progression is not based on trial-and-error. There's little backtracking to formerly visited places, the amount of dialogs is just enough, and the game feels whole.
Lily looking through is a cute little adventure game which I have found when I was dejected and it pumped up my mood significantly. Unfortunately it is quite short and feels unfinished. A sequel was in the works, but don't know anything about it's state. Because of that it's price tag is a bit high, so buy it discounted or look for a coupon, if you have decided to buy it. Have I mentioned that a part of the game is playable as a demo?
Journey of a Roach is a funny 3D adventure-platformer worth trying which I have completed at least twice, and am planning a next one just to try out my new controller. No matter that I have seen the puns and gags svereal times, it still gives me laugh.
The Fall, The Fall Part 2: Unbound, The Swapper are space-oriented 2D platformers with dark styles and can completely suck you in if you don't pay attention. The Fall series have a lot of gore and violent shooting, but I still find it worth mentioning. The Swapper is more about puzzle solving leveraging the unique abilities of a space suit. The first time I played it with did a run from start to finish and did not notice that several hours have passed. Suddenly it was just dark outside...
To the Moon, Finding Paradise, A Bird Story are story rich JRPG-style adventure games. These will melt your heart.
Speaking of heart melting, if you like puzzle solving, give Quell Zen a go. It is the best part of the series, combining the elements of other installments, turning it into a kind of "picture book" where you can see into the reunification of a long-disconnected mother and child.
Backbone If you like film noir, detective stories, this one is a must. Playing it felt like being in a movie and doing the investigator-thing. Choices really matter here, and there are many options to solve a given task, so nothing's lost if you have done something wrong. I definitely will buy the whole game once it comes out.
The Cave Again a platformer. Seems and feels like a collection of short stories. Although the goal is the same in every run, your options and flow of events depend on the characters you choose to face the adventure. Also many playthroughs are needed to see every bit of the game, as every character has its own theme. I remember it had quite a big market push with a lot of advertising at that time, and seeing the trailers and videos I did not understand what good this game can provide. Then sometime later I have gave it a chance and bought it in a bunde, and did not regret it from the first minute.

I'm more into point'n'click and puzzle games, so my recommendation would be something more like AntVentor or Samorost 3...
But if you liked games like Limbo or Inside, you may check Toby: The Secret Mine or Child of Light, both great games to waste some time :)

Hey everyone,
I am looking for recommendations on games to buy and play. Everyone that comes with a serious suggestion are added to my whitelist, and if someone beat you to the punch with your recommendation you can add you comment to tell me WHY you also recommend that game and why I should buy/play that and i will count that too.
I am looking for games that are more focused on a journey than with a world ending evil to defeat at the end - and minimal to no combat. So think Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons or maybe Undertale - games like that. (don't recommend those 2).
I am hoping to find games with an emotional impact, but all tones are welcome (scary, serious, funny, lighthearted)!
Examples of games that i love in this area:
Brothers - A Tale of Two Songs
Undertale
Limbo/Inside
Bastion/Transistor
The First Pokemon (in a way that feeling i mean is there in the journey)
I am planning on adding more whitelist giveaways soon, but for starters here are 5 to get the ball rolling (each running for a week).

EDIT: Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions - got so many recommendations that look amazing, will have plenty to do over the summer.
Closing the thread now, and for all who got on the wishlist, more giveaways will be made in the following days :)
