Hey everyone,

I am looking for recommendations on games to buy and play. Everyone that comes with a serious suggestion are added to my whitelist, and if someone beat you to the punch with your recommendation you can add you comment to tell me WHY you also recommend that game and why I should buy/play that and i will count that too.

I am looking for games that are more focused on a journey than with a world ending evil to defeat at the end - and minimal to no combat. So think Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons or maybe Undertale - games like that. (don't recommend those 2).

I am hoping to find games with an emotional impact, but all tones are welcome (scary, serious, funny, lighthearted)!

Examples of games that i love in this area:
Brothers - A Tale of Two Songs
Undertale
Limbo/Inside
Bastion/Transistor
The First Pokemon (in a way that feeling i mean is there in the journey)

I am planning on adding more whitelist giveaways soon, but for starters here are 5 to get the ball rolling (each running for a week).

EDIT: Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions - got so many recommendations that look amazing, will have plenty to do over the summer.
Closing the thread now, and for all who got on the wishlist, more giveaways will be made in the following days :)

I've read through four pages and I was surprised to see there was no mention of any Telltale Games. No combat (sometimes just very simple quick time events) and very deep stories that keep you engaged throughout.

I'd especially recommend two of them: The Wolf Among Us, and Tales from the Borderlands. Both are excellent in storytelling and each episode begs for the next.

Oh yeah, these two are my favourite
Looking forward to The Wolf Among Us 2 <3

"Why am I dead at sea" is a good pixel game with a detailed detective part and a lot of characters with their story

"Distraint" may seem too psychedelic, but it presents some good topics about our actionsconsequences and the value of humans lives. I did not like the second part of this game, but the first gave me a lot of awesome feelings and emotions

"The cat lady", also, has a good story, but it`s filled with terrifying moments

I'm not sure if people have recommended these, but:
Stardew Valley - it's a great casual game where you can play as little or as much as you like, it has combat but you can avoid it. Can set your own goals and help with the villagers and daily town life. It's a pretty popular game for a reason :) I have a friend who has played this game for over 600 hours. I myself have over 100. So many different quest lines that can be depressing, hilarious, heartbreaking etc.

Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles - a cute no combat exploration game. Has a main story - takes about 20ish hours to complete the game. I really enjoyed it.

Do you like old RPGs?

Chrono Trigger is one of my old favorites and the Steam version is already fixed (at the release it was a mess).

Ni no Kuni Wrath of the White Witch Remastered is a good RPG too. If you like Ghibli Studio movies is a perfect choice.

Octopath Traveler: I played it in Switch and I love its graphic style, its characters, etc. And the soundtrack is great!

I want to play Trials of Mana (because I loved Secret of Mana back in my days of SNES), but I haven't bought it yet, so I wouldn't know if I should recommend it to you.

I always suggest the Legacy of Kain series. Except the first blood omen. It is too much 2d for some.
Fantastic stories.

What Remains of Edith Finch Explore the ancestral home of your family, most of whom met a tragic early end, and learn who they were and what happened to them. Some family members have a unique short story to "play" through. Its all about the story, there's no combat.

It was given away on EGS a while back, if you kept up with that.

I have a game my girlfriend recommended to me, I think it was originally an I-Pad game, and it's pretty cool. Uses a pretty unique (at the time I played it) mechanic kinda similar to Alter World but on a less platformer scale.
It's point and click but I still feel it has some great world-ending feel.
