Seeing as Command & Conquer Kane's Wrath and Tiberium Wars were added to the bundle list today, to be fair, Skyrim, Metro Last Light, Borderlands 2 and countless other games must also be added to the list.

Skyrim was sold in a pack of 10 Steam games for approximately $27, which divided equally, comes out to be $2.70, a savings of 95.5% off from the list price of $60. For proof that it was exploited, refer to this graph. There is a large spike on December 19, 2012, precisely when it was sold in this bundle.

Metro Last Light was sold for 1 penny at Best Buy, which is quite obviously an exploit and must be added to the bundle list. I would estimate that a good fraction of the Metro giveaways were from this exploit. Please add it to the bundle list. Based on new information, Metro Last Light is not a good example. Instead, I offer you Spore Creepy & Cute Parts Pack, which has the exact same discount in the Russian Steam store as Kane's Wrath.

Similarly, Borderlands 2 was sold for $2 or so during the holidays on Gamersgate, a discount of 96.7%. Do you see the huge spike in December and January of last year? Yeah, those are from this price mistake.

What about Civilization V? It has a similar discount as the two Command and Conquer games in terms of Russian pricing. It's not a coincidence that the giveaway spikes for this game occur exactly when the game was on sale.

All three of these games fulfill the main criteria to be on the list:
1) 95% off sale or higher
2) Exploitable/Exploited
Please add these games to the bundle list.

Do away with CV system games altogether. I don't care if it's in a bundle, all gifts still get lots of entries; or if it is a game and receives over 500 entries within 24 hours give the giver full credit as demand for the game does exist. This will push more giveaways on Steamgifts.

How many people gave away 8 copies of Skyrim or 10 copies of Metro LL or 6 copies of Civ V? That is abuse. I bet you can't find a single person (or more than 1 person) who did that during the period you are talking about. No one abused the system with those games. Kane's Wrath, however, was different. You could go on someone's profile and find that they gave 6-20 copies of those away. I really don't understand your logic.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Do a search and look at the profiles for Civ V, I count quite a few people with 5 or more giveaways of Civ V. It must just be coincidence that most of them are Russian too. I'm not going to name anyone because it could be considered calling out.

I actually do know someone who has given 8+ copies of Skyrim (but I'm quite sure he didn't exploit)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

So you just proved my point. You have no firsthand knowledge of anyone exploiting Metro LL or Skyrim yet you wasted your time making this thread. Alright. All you are do is speculating, whereas with those Kane game things the front page was filled with people giving away large amount of copies.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It looks like you conveniently forgot to mention Civ V in your reply. I also do know people who exploited Borderlands 2. Metro and Skyrim less so.

I also do know of quite a few other games that were exploited, but they aren't nearly as high profile as the ones I listed. Perhaps if I include them and proof of exploit you would be more happy?

Just as an example, Spore Creepy & Cute Parts Pack. Look at the previous giveaways - there are a bunch of people giving 5 or even 10 copies of the DLC away.

You mention Skyrim and Metro LL in your original post, buddy. They are fair game to point out as flaws in your argument. If you fail to use proper examples then your whole argument is cast into doubt. That's the only reason why I pounced.

Civ 5 - even though it is possible some people may have exploited it is still no where near the level of exploited as that Kane DLC or whatever. Im on this thing daily, and in all honesty, I bet there are no more than a dozen people who bought and gave away large quantities of that. I could be wrong, but I just havent seen it. The games you feel shouldn't be bundled needed to be bundled. I don't really care for the CV system and stuff, but imo it is clearly obvious why those Kane things got bundled. I'll leave you to it though.

I remember the very first post you made in this thread called me a flamer and a troll. I doubt giving a flawed argument caused you to "pounce" and insult me.

I bet there are no more than a dozen people who bought and gave away large quantities of that.
What a coincidence, because there were no more than a dozen people who bought and gave away large quantities of Kane's Wrath as well. I count ~10 people who exploited it.

The games you feel shouldn't be bundled needed to be bundled
Look at this graph and tell me why it's on the bundle list
There were 10 (maybe 11, I can't tell how many private ones were made) giveaways made for this game during the past sale. If that counts as exploitation, I don't know what that word means.

I really think you're wrong. I receive at least one game per day with a 90% discount (not even considering Russia, since I can't legally buy it there). From the great gamehouses, I can find at least 3 right now with the price close to USD1. If you start considering this, we have to put all games on bundle list.

Special discounts are different from bundles, where you pay 1USD for 3-4 games at once. If you have enough money to buy a shitload of keys, it's up to you.

Weird that it only has been given away on SG 320 times in total since it's release if there was just an pricing error. Even Skyrim was on here twice as often.

Thats why I included the comment involving the timing of the pricing error. I know some people got it but it wasn't up for more than a couple of minutes. Lots of people probably bought it for themselves or the people who got multiple copies traded them. Metro LL didn't have a huge spike in giveaways during the price error either.

Yes, that's a good idea. How about adding CV based on a game popularity rather than their price. Then we will see games which people want more often.

But still 1 USD for 10 CV. Where is difference between Rome spam and Crazy Machines spam? And why CV = USD? Not all here live in US or Western Europe. For you 1 USD = 1 USD for me 1 USD = 3 USD. And for Russian 1 USD = 35 USD This is fair?

1 for 10, 1 for 20 - I don't see any difference, CV =/= real money spend for buying game. Different countries, different prices, different salary - this is reason why many people not accept CV - because it splitting people into rich and poor.

Maybe time to change, for example: 0,01 CV for each giveaway entry. Good game + many entries = profit. Solved problem with "old" bundle games.

The difference is 90% vs 95%. People wanted a "rule" as to what qualifies, so he set 95%, and that's part of why Crazy Machines made the list and Rome/Sniper/Death Rally/etc didn't.

Retail is same as in Steam store, for example, CoD: Ghosts 60€, Football manager 2014 50€, Metro LL 50€, Rayman Legends 30€, Amnesia: A machine for pigs 16€. Actually, retail is usually a bit more expensive.
