I'm very sorry to hear that man, I hope he'll get better everyday! :)
As for the game suggestions, Fortix series might be nice for him! Also some other games like:

I guess with a good amount of research you can find pretty much everything on the Internet, a game like that on browser would be great. ^_^ Those are awesome picks though, thanks!

It's sudden and we're not ready for it. All the best wishes to your dad.
Thank you. :)

English Country Tune perhaps ?
Abstract, near-textless presentation and low-key visuals may help. Difficulty of some of the puzzles may not though.

Probably a little bit too hard, but thanks for the suggestion!

Think those wouldn't be a bad idea at all. Thanks!

Triple town, or any match-3 game.
Plants vs zombies?
Faerie Solitaire?
Anyway, I hope your uncle will get well.

Alright, not sure if it's the best but I might give Faerie Solitaire a try one of these days. Triple Town seems nice, and Plants VS Zombies I'll save for later on.
Thank you. :)

Shame about the lack of reading, as this doesn't have voice acting, but Samantha Swift games - a hidden object style game might be possible. Also other casual titles by mumbo jumbo.

I think of myself when I was younger, around 5 years old, and played games in English where I didn't really understand what was going on at first, but learned more about things as I played. He still remembers a few things so I will give those a try too. Thanks for the help!

I am not sure what is too hard for someone like him but when someone wrote about online card games I had to think of these:
Card Hunter (open beta I think)
Faeria (still closed beta)
I wish him and his family all the best for the future.

Appreciate the suggestions (and the little chat yesterday). :D
Thank you.

Hi, my father has a similar situation.
For people in his condition you would be inclined to choose games that can be played with one hand only (like indie casual games). However, they can play much more than that. We bought a few months ago a Razer Hydra controller and we remapped the buttons from the two controllers on one only so he can play with one hand only. Hydra is highly customizable and it already supports a lot of games; besides that you can map any key on the keyboard to its buttons or do any configuration you like. We remap the WASD keys on the joystick of the stick and leave the mouse rotation (lookaround) as it is on the same stick - this way we can simulate WASD movement and mouse rotation at same time. It takes a while for the player to adapt, but it can be done.
With Hydra we can play Portal for example, platformers, or any game that needs WASD + mouse rotation + a few more action buttons, and someone also created a configuration for WoW druid, but I haven't tried it yet.
Also don't forget the strategy games out there that don't need both keyboard and mouse movement at the same time.
Please feel free to PM/add me if you need more details on this matter.
Also, a Razer Naga mouse can help a lot in some situations.

I'm a bit unsure about the controller. Considering all the money we've already spend and WILL need to spend still, we can't get everything, but for some reason I never really thought about the Razer Naga, that's the perfect mouse for someone in his condition and would be a lovely purchase, maybe for his birthday. Thank you a lot. I really appreciate the help.

Not the first one who suggests it... I wonder.
Added to the list!

I really feel bad after reading your uncle's story cause my father had stroke 8 months ago but we admitted him to hospital rightaway and that prevented further damage . I hope your uncle will be okay and come back to regular life although it could take some time . blessings for him :)
and for the games I would suggest any easy side scroller game :)

My uncle wasn't feeling so well in the previous weeks, he even went to the hospital once and didn't tell anyone about it. Then shit hit the fan (excuse the language) and the hospital didn't do its job right. I'm afraid that made his situation worse, a lot worse. Your father was very lucky and I'm glad all got better for him!
Side-scrollers seem to be a good pick indeed. Will look into that. :)

I came across that cute game on Android, it's called Badland, I think it's kind of stimulating and easy to play at the same time. You control a flying creature and just touch the screen to fly higher, stop touching to fly lower, etc. Sounds stupid the way I'm describing it but it's really worth it in my opinion.
Little Inferno is nice too on Android. The controls are simple, it's just about clicking and dragging (or touching and dragging), and it's relaxing, is a sandbox-type, perfect for your uncle (perfect for everyone actually !)
I wish your uncle the best and a quick recovery.

Oh, I remember playing that game on a friend's iPad back in High School. xD
It's a fun little game indeed, however I don't own an iPad or anything of the sorts, yet.
Will definitely give Little Inferno a try.
Thank you for the good wishes and the help!

The one thing that immediately springs to mind is Botanicula. Simple, point-and-click controls that aren't at all twitchy, no reading, and it's cute as hell. Other Amanita games that I've played, like Machinarium, are also solid candidates, but Botanicula was my favorite of the bunch. Added bonus? They're in the current Humble Weekly Bundle. :)
Aside from games that have already been mentioned extensively (World of Goo, etc) I'm having trouble coming up with other ideas, but will keep thinking about it. Best of luck to your uncle and your family.
[edit]: Zen Bound 2, perhaps? Waking Mars was also a neat, relaxing game that I don't recall requiring much reading, but I played the mobile version, so I can't vouch for the controls on PC.

10,000,000 might be good. i remember playing it fully on m phone and it was pretty simple, like bejeweled.
Offspring fling was pretty simple and didn't have many controls when i last looked at it.
Also any worms game can be played only with the mouse.

Super Hexagon. It might be a bit too fast for him for now.

The Peggle games are very fun, but most if not all popcap games are played using just the mouse so he should have no problem with them.

I'm disgusted that a few people in this thread take this opportunity to be a comedian.
I'm sorry to hear about your uncle. I entirely agree with you that if he liked to play games, he should definitely try to keep that up to the best of his abilities. Keeping his mind sound will probably prove to be very important in the situation he's in.
As for what games, I have seen some very good suggestions above. World of Goo is probably great. I also think that general platform puzzle games will be good. Maybe something like Vessel, or if you look for something simpler, Thomas Was Alone was great, especially for the narrating.
I wish you and your uncle all the best.

Maybe Fortix or Zen Bound, not sure so please don't hold me to that.

When he recovers good logic and thinking ability, SpaceChem can be a good thing: no rush / speed / do-it-before-the-clock, you can take the time you want. Only one hand is needed. The game becomes more and more challenging with levels, so it is important that your uncle recovers logic ability first !

I'm terribly sorry about your uncle and I hope he will recover soon. Best way to help his recovery is to keep his mind active and games are a great way of doing so!
I would recommend you Angry Birds games. They're not too complicated and are easy to master and there's tons of them. Also Plants vs. Zombies is a great casual game. It only requires a bit of reading but it doesn't really matter if you can't read those since they're not necessary to understand to beat the game. You could also try binding of isaac. It's pretty challenging and can be pretty fast paced but if that's okey I think it could be worth a shot.
My condolecenses to you and your uncle

My father had a few of these and I was thankful he recovered but soon after passed from cancer. My condolences to your Uncle.
Here are few ideas.
Game Dev Tycoon,
FTL,
Civilizations (any of them),
XCOM: Enemy Unknown,
Defense Grid: Awakening,
Plants vs Zombies,
Little Inferno,
Other strategy games that are hex based as long as they are simple.
There are also a few board games that have become digital. Like Small World 2 that he may enjoy.

My uncle had a stroke two years ago, a really bad one. Long story short, it affected half of his brain and therefore his body. He used to be a very intelligent man and possessed a lot of knowledge about many things, most of it seems to have been lost, though.
Another thing is that he loved video games.
He used to play a bit of what I play. Dragon Age, Mass Effect, strategy games like Age of Empires, FPS with good campaigns, Tomb Raider. But those are a bit too advanced for him to play at the moment.
Half of his body is paralyzed, along with his left arm/hand.
What I really need help with is...
I need suggestions for a SIMPLE game he could play. Even though he got A LOT better over the months, he is mentally debilitated at the moment. To give an example, only a few months ago he started using the buttons of the tv controller correctly. And still it's not easy...
TL;DR
What I am wondering IS...
What games do you think would be best for someone with only one hand available (his right hand), where half of his brain is still recovering?
Take note that reading might also be very hard for him, so I need simple, very simple games to start with.
All help would be appreciated.
Important edit:
I will be sending invites to a few people to enter my group.
I will giveaway Dishonored - Game of the Year Edition to you guys who helped, and might even create a few other group GAs along the way. Thanks!
