take a breath... How does it feel?
:)
i didn't. even if i can -perfectly- understand the worry for a blacklist (especially if you're quite new, here around), you should take that stat as an indicator (like, +20-30 blacklists might be a good indicator you're doing something wrong).
also, blacklisting me for this thread won't fix their problem :P

Yes please tell me you keep record on how many blacklists you get for each topic so I can repeat the best working ones. :P
It's so cute when the little ones imagine their blacklists are doing anything other than preventing them from winning more games.

You creating this topic and peple commenting on it will get us all + blacklists.
Having an opinion or just commenting on this site gets you blacklists.
The toxicity is very high and I am not kidding. You, OP and some other people are one of the best people on this site, but I find you a rarity.
People judge here without knowing you. They don't ask your reasons and if you make a mistake you are forever outcast by silly minds.
If you are poor and cannot donate games anymore or simply you are not rich and toxic, you do not fit in this community. In order to win games, you have to spend money on games... which is silly. I understand an entry level, like to unlock better and more giveaways, gift SOMETHING. That's okay. But being poor and not giving away games anymore, having a "bad" ratio - "Ooooh, I am GOD, let's blacklist that person for being poor (or for not having enough to gift games to strangers) so he can stay that way - he has won enough!!!! He doesn't deserve to win anymore even if he gifted away games in the past!!!"
Then what happens? You PAY with time and intellect - you take 3 hours to do a JIGIDI or another puzzle, you solve a mystery that only 10 people have solved on istoohard or some other way in the forum section... and for what? To find that you have been blacklisted by some kid or some NOT so open-minded person, who feeds his ego by being in Premium groups for people who are the select few who donate hundreds of games?
Then you limit yourself, you say i won't buy so much food this month, I will survive - I will eat more salads, I will save up for some games. You buy, you gift. and you make an easy Jigidi and try to ask for people who enter the giveaway to at least they try their win. You make it, the winners don't play the games for months... and you feel bad that you didn't activate those games yourself or gifted them to friends or to some people that will actually play them. You feel bad. An year later you discover groups that require people to play their wins and you feel bad for not finding them sooner, but also feel good that they exist...
There are many toxic people here, that I have come across. There are also others that block you for ratio, and some that won't unblock you even if you spent days to figure out their puzzles. And there are also many good people that you meet and stay your friends.
So there are definitely bad people out there, but that is not due to SteamGifts or to a country... there are bad apples... but there are also very cool and heartwarming people here (and in the World).

I think it's far more toxic and egoistic to assume others owe you games just because you're poor. Or blaming those that give games for selecting who they want to give them to. Anyone can easily do stuff online to earn couple coins to buy games with if they really want to show some appreciation back.

Depends. I think it is on the same level of toxicity and egoism.
I was not talking for myself in particular and I do not think anybody owes me anything. I have commented what I have heard from friends and what I have started to see. I am not blaming anybody - it's a free World, I just think that giving such "power" to choose who wins and what not, some people abuse that power. And no, in some countries you cannot do such things, as they are banned and VPNs don't help. If just giving away games is the only way of appreciation and gratitude for you, it is not for me. And I have given away games. And I am not obliged to give them, either - which is the other side of the coin.
I have read your comment a bit personnal towards me, but I know there are leeches out there who don't give anything at all, and they don't even comment to limit their exposure on the site.

How can anyone abuse the power of being freely able to choose who to give something to? Who is supposed to have that power other than the one who owns what is given away? If you can use Steam you can trade some stuff on it to earn couple bucks to buy a game from a sale for example.
If you're on a gifting site and have got lots of games for free from others, giving something back is the only way I think fits the case. Of course others might value other ways and they are free to. You in English can mean anyone as well, so it wasn't directed at you personally either but anyone who has that kind of attitude.
I don't really care what people give or not personally, but I rarely do low level public giveaways outside forum events. Mostly because low level users cause tons more hassle on average than higher when they should accept your game and mark it received rather than because they haven't given enough. I don't have the patience to deal with hordes of bots and people with no idea how the site works or who go away for couple weeks right after entering all GAs when I can just give a game and be done with it.

I am not talking about freely choosing who to give away things for, but the ones who make it so to feed their ego, who also say you are blacklisted and just a speck and not a human being for not meeting high requirements. It is one thing being polite and saying, sorry you don't meet the requirements, and it's another making you feel small or lesser than them with words - like you are not worthy enough to be in an exclusive group.
I agree with the last paragraph you have written. It is indeed a hassle and I hate bots or people just entering everything and then not knowing what to do. Cheers!

Everyone is also free to BL everyone they want for whatever reasons. If you feel bad about others telling you that your stats suck and BLing for that, maybe it's time to improve those stats. If you can't or won't do that, why focus so much on some random persons opinion online? Or imagining that they think you are somehow less worthy as a human when the only thing they are saying is that you're less worthy as a gift recipient? Why are you tying your self worth and humanity to some meaningless thing like does someone else want to gift me games or not? Exclusive groups are exactly that, exclusive like that name quite clearly says. If they didn't have rules or requirements they would just accepts anyone and be inclusive.

You are very right Startwhite. I am too emotional and take things too much to heart, hence why it feels like I'm "less worthy as a human" when they are too abrupt with me...

You, OP
you know, bud... my general, old idea of this site is that we're a big bunch of spoiled peeps. all of us.
and, lotta things happens "far" from here, from these public threads. so, it's "technically" possible you've only noticed a few of those who seems to be a rarity.
lots of beautiful people are creating winning and doing the steamgifts thing not here, not showing it. is really not that rare, trust me!
it's very easy, Domojaxx, for me. i have the ratio, i make threads, i do get whitelists and a few blacklists... but i also wish that those peeps will come here, and show up what the hell have being doing, here around :D

Yes, the past year I have seen more of the good people, so I really hope you are right about this. And thinking about how people suffer around the World and that many of them don't even own a computer and how much bigger problems there are (real ones), we might just turn out to be spoiled. Good food for thought, icaio.

I love the air here. Really tasty!
You just have to chew it thoroughly
At the beginning I thought that it's about actual air where we live. In summer it's great - I live almost in forests, but during winter, when everybody use coal to heat their houses - It's really toxic.

lately it feels really calm here.
but it's summer after all so most people are out there getting drunk and rioting in the streets.

If SG is as toxic as this as this video, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOZuxwVk7TU), I wouldn't mind it at all!

I perceived it as 'four' after having no internet access for a while. It's totally a 'one' after being back online for a hour or so.

It's not as toxic as I'm used to through Dead by Daylight.
But since I hate toxicity I mostly stay out of this sort of "trouble".
I try to remain friendly and de-escalate rather than giving fuel to the flame.
But that is just me and my stupid believe that every person is nice inside and has reasons why they are acting like they do. ^^
Have a bump! ^^

I think that the toxicity level dropped as the number of active forum users dropped. Probably as a result of high toxicity. There's a lot less personal or political discussion on the forum than used to be, and I attribute it to the previously high level of toxicity. Of course for a lot of people that's exactly what they wanted, but I think that some nice people have been driven out.
I do see support for people who need help or moral support, and it's nice to see this.
All in all, I think that the community right now isn't too bad, but it's not what I'd call friendly. It's a good place to find deals and enjoy puzzles, and it's even possible to get some help here, but it's not so much a place to enjoy the company of others.

Rate the air you're breathing here around!
In the poll below you'll find the US Toxicity category rating, starting from category I (most toxic) to VI (the non toxic).
...You may also change the vote, later, if you feel toxicity level is at a lower / higher category
all votes are welcome, but sgifters that usually stay out of Discussions, are more than welcome.
- - Try to not limit your rating cause of a single comment, or reacting to a blacklist or two... Get a more general sense sniffing Discussions and all Steamgifts - -
