I love to take the netbook to travel due to size and weight, but a weak intel atom processor and intel graphics card does not allow you to run most of games.

What Steam games do you play on a netbook? Who can share their experiences?)

Specs of this monstro:

OS Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

Processor / Chipset

CPU Intel ATOM N280 / 1.66 GHz

Chipset Intel 945GSE Express

Memory RAM 1024.0 GB

I recommend flash games! It is possible to download flash games to play offline mode. Also, you might be able to get DOSbox working to emulate some of your "owned" classic games. Tehehehehe

Honestly for netbook gaming you're better off looking at GOG than at Steam.

Even the integrated graphic chipset and cpu are weak, but still, one thing you can take as advantage is the screen size. for a 13" screen, you can lower much the resolution to
reduce the demand on hardware...so, some point & click game and indie games should work fine.

When I used to play games on a netbook (with a N270) I used to play NFS: UG (but with lag), Plants vs zombies (with lag during waves), Doom 1 & 2 and some VNs...

Any game from 2002-2003 or older will probably run, but newer games will need to be quite lightweight to be able to run on a netbook (like super meat boy or terraria)

Minesweeper and solitare are alright, and should already be installed on your netbook. the best you might play is a point and click, because anything else wood be to taxing on the graphics. it is a netbook afterall, its only made for web browsing.

Compassnoth has already said some, so from your library I'd add to the list:

  • Crusader Kings 2
  • Grotesque Tactics
  • Snapshot
  • The Basement Collection
  • Worms Reloaded

Games that I've already beaten on my netbook (N270 1'6ghz, 2gb ram, Gma950):

  • Gta 3, Vice City and San Andreas (this one with some tweaks).
  • Mafia
  • Classic Dungeon & Dragons games, such as: Baldurs Gates, Icewind Dale, etc.
  • Braid, Super Meat Boy, Binding of Isaac, Hotline Miami, Osmos, and many more indie games.

Try with 3DAnalyze, or similar apps that will improve your netbook's performance.

I actually tried FTL on a netbook (ATOM 1.66GHZ, 1GB RAM, Intel 945GSE, an ASUS EEEPC), but i couldn't play it due to the resolution, maybe if i find a way to force it, or at least cheat the game to think the screen is big enough (even then it took a really long time to load), Frozen Synapse will probably work, VVVVVVVVV worked with a bit of lag, i'm thinking Bastion won't run (at least not well enough), Heroes Of Might and Magic III (classic, though a bit hard to find someone to play with, we use to lan), Diablo 2 and LOD might run well, Terraria, and pretty much any old point and click adventure (Monkey Island games, The Dig, Indiana Jones and the like).

I might try some of these games tomorrow.

Neither of them will work, as they are "high" graphic demanding games. :S
