+1 this from all the way back on page 2.
Making the delay the maximum amount of time a giveaway can run will certainly prevent people from abusing it during large events that are run throughout the year.
Without a delay this large they won't think twice about blacklisting people.
I'd like to see Max giveaway length at 28 days and blacklist delay at 30 days.

I agree with everybody that says the max should be a month though.
Agreed because there are individual (thread) giveaways, events and (SGTools) trains that run for multiple weeks.
Changing the maximum to 4 weeks would be nice indeed.

Just to clarify, if there are people on your blacklist prior to the change, does this mean now you are automatically on theirs now? or is it still a one way street for people blacklisting you before the change.

You will never be on their blacklist. You just can no longer enter their giveaways (minor but important difference).
It is retroactive, i.e. you can no longer enter the giveaways of users that have been on your blacklist prior to the change.

I love it, it doesn't really affect me because I have no one on my blacklist and I barely enter giveaways but I think this is a step in the right direction :)

I would really like to know the names of the people who blacklisted me. I think it's only fair. Responses?

Discussed multiple times, would lead a lot of drama and complaining. Majority of blacklists happen by random people who are just angry at the world or they can not join your giveaways for some reason (low level and such), and you're missing out miniscule maounts of giveaways from people you never talked to. (This changed if you'd make an ass out of you on the forums as some people do, or if you'd have unactivated/multiple wins. Ratio would be personal)

Hi SG, we just rolled out an update to the way blacklists work, and I wanted to create a quick announcement to explain the difference. Previously, if you blacklisted a user, they would not be able to enter your giveaways, or see them on the homepage. Now, there is one addition: If you blacklist a user, you will also not be able to enter their giveaways, or see them on the homepage.
There are two reasons for the change...
This might leave you wondering, is there anything preventing you from unblacklisting a user, entering their giveaways, and then blacklisting them again? Yes. When unblacklisting a user, there is a delay between one second and one
dayweek until you once again see their giveaways on the homepage, and have access to entering them. If you try to directly open their giveaways sooner, you will see an error, such as "You do not have permission to view this giveaway for another 35 minutes, since you previously blacklisted the giveaway creator.". The length of the delay is proportional to the amount of time you had the user blacklisted (i.e. if you blacklisted a user for 5 hours, you'll need to wait 5 hours after unblacklisting the user), up to the maximum of onedayweek.Comment has been collapsed.
