I'm no GFWL fan myself, but I never had a problem with it. Many people still don't realize that GFWL lets you create an offline profile. With an offline profile you don't have to be connected to the internet, and save files are stored on your system. You (obviously) can't play MP with an offline profile.
The only games I still have with GFWL on them are Fallout 3, GTA IV, and GTA EFLC. All of those titles have "mods" that completely disable GFWL anyway. I know I've played other games that had GFWL, but those three are the only ones I still have installed. The others I just used an offline profile, and except for the message telling you to press the key to open the overlay, I wouldn't know GFWL was there.

I've always hated 3rd party DRM (GFWL for one example) and Logins (also GFWL for one example) with steam games. I always thought it was stupid to have to log into steam, and then have to log into GFWL in game.
Steam + 3rd party DRM still hasn't stopped people from pirating games, and it just makes the legit paying customers life much more annoying.

My problems with gfwl are that it is just plain stupid. My location is Oklahoma, Canada because after choosing that I lived in Canada it still gave me the states drop down list. And I lost my old account because it said my email was no longer valid.

Gave up trying to replay Fallout 3 I won here after GFWL first destroyed my save files after 4 hours and then again after another 20 spent in the game with new character. Not to mention it took me 20-30 minutes to create an account because their captcha is just dreadful, I was typing what it showed up on my screeen and according to the GFWL it didn't match. AFAIR you can change your profile name just once. Oh, and you can't even download games directly from there. Wanna know my opinion? Fuck GFWL. There's not a single positive aspect using that.

GfWL is nowhere near as bad as it used to be. I have plenty of games that use it, and dont have any issues (any more). In the past though it used to frequently disconnect, not install updates to itself or the game properly, and slow down games massively if I opened the overlay. Now though I use it every other day for Dark Souls and it is fine (and its always been fine for me in Batman AA & AC, Toy Soldiers, and Fallout 3).

GFWL hasn't stopped people from entering for the Arkham games, which still require GFWL even under Steam. Go ahead and list them.

GFWL: "Ohhhhhh, you spent the last 10hrs playing that game? It would be terrible If your savegames just disappeared for no apparent reason"
Happened to me with GTA4 and REd Faction Gerrilla (I was so mad after this las one that haven't play this one since)

Just a question : where do you intend to giveaway GFWL games ?

I don't hate GFWL but also I don't love. It simply service which was less convenient than Steam but also in it is the pluses. I never tested problems with their installation or start. Besides it is opportunity to play with friends which have xbox360.

GFWL wont let me play Fallout 3, Dirt 3, or the first game I won on SG - The Club.

GFWL is Steam's cancer, i can't even count how many problems i had with broken setup, invalid dlls, broken drivers after installing GFWL client, horribly slow support (4 weeks for a blatantly simple question) and the list goes on. Yeah, i mad bro.
I REALLY hope, devs stop using GFWL when they release their crap on Steam. I mean, a double DRM - what the actual fuck?

I recently won Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet here on SG. The game really does look amazing, but I haven't yet managed to get GFWL to let me play it. It's the first time I found out why everyone complains about it (I have played a GFWL in the past, but that one let me run it in an "offline profile" and I never had to worry about it again - now I finally the hate). I'm not going to give up trying to get it working and put somebody's thoughtful gift to waste, but it is very frustrating to have to get a game and find it so badly undermined by a completely superfluous DRM.

The only DRM I hate is Always-Online DRM. As for GFWL- my only problem is that when I go to my achievements list on my XBox 360, it will say "Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition" in one of the games lists, since GFWL is synced to my Xbox Account. Just a minor thing, though. I don't mind GFWL

Hey all, from the individual game discussion boards (on Steam) it looks like people do buy GFWL games; however, the consensus seems to be people hate GFWL and thus prefer not to really get the games through Steam.
I, for one, have never had a problem with GFWL and was thinking about doing some giveaways for some of the GFWL games. So, I've come to the forums to see what people think of this or if I'd just be wasting my time/money on GFWL games to giveaway =/
Thanks for your input!
