Hi. I have a problem:
My contribution value has been DECREASED! It was around $150 and now it's $88.
I know bundled games adds only 20% of their value to your account value. But:
1- "(Note: Giveaways created prior to a bundle always receive full value)". I know that when a giveaway will not add the game's full value to my account (for whatever reason), there is a at the end of the game's title, on the drop down list. So If by the time I created a giveaway the wasn't there, I should get 100% of the game's value, right? And I know that all the times I created a giveaway there was no * on the title yet.
2- The problem isn't even about how much value certain games should add to my account. The thing it that I ALREADY HAD $150 added to it, so how and why was it decreased?

Because the point of gifting isn't to increase your CV e-penis, and calculating it when starting a giveaway would support that.

+1
The CV system is in place to encourage gifting. Without it there wouldn't be as much gifting, and therefore it is an important part of the website. A CV calculator would be nice so there are no false pretenses whatsoever, which should reduce complaining.

I came here solely because I was wondering about the asterisk (*) next to certain game in drop down list.
I did not found any explanation in the post I was linked to.
Anyone care to indulge me, please?

It won't give me any CV or it gives me like ~5% of it's store price?
Is that your opinion or it's written anywhere on the forum by any official SG mod?

simply click the "full details" link in the main post of this thread and you will see how the contributor value is calculated

I was asking about the asterisk(*) symbol, not about bundle games, thanks.
No asterisks were mentioned in that post either.

The * is just an easy way to identify bundled games. It's a mark that the SteamGifts manager puts on games to put it easy to gifters that a game you're giving away was bundled, so you'll not be caught on surprise.
When the game has an *, it was bundled, so, from 30.00 on, only 20% of it's value, up to 20% of your total non-bundle contribution.
If it doesn't have an *, it was NOT bundled, so you'll receive full CV.

Sounds useful. May I also repeat part of my previous message:
Is that your opinion or it's written anywhere on the forum by any official SG mod?

What does the asterisk (*) mean beside a game on the Create a Giveaway list?
An asterisk next to a game title on the Create a Giveaway list indicates that the game is included in the bundle list and thus you might not receive full contribution value for it. For more information please check this thread. Part of FAQ.
"This thread" link at the end redirects to this forum, the 20% rule stated in OP's post.

Not opinion and don't know if there's somewhere else with it explicitly writen.
HERE is the list of bundled: http://www.steamgifts.com/bundles/list
and with a little of common sense, you'll see that this is EXACTLY the same games marked with (*). So... take your own conclusions. I won't reply anymore, as it's just a troll game the way it turned to.

Check the FAQ (see link at the bottom of any SG page). That really has a paragraph about "What does the asterisk (*) mean beside a game on the Create a Giveaway list?". Why this multi-page discussion is linked instead, that is a good question, perhaps the FAQ has been updated later.

Can someone tell me why my contribution is 30$ and after next few giveaways its still 30$?

So do games bought in packs on steam count as "Bundled" games and is there a way to see a breakdown of which giveaways contribute to your CV?
Comment has been collapsed.
So the way I understand it is if it's on the list then you are pretty much screwed out of CV even if you didn't get it in a bundle? Do they ever take games off the list from a year ago? Because if not that list is incredulously long and there are few major (and minor) titles that can be given away without being tied to a bundle.

It says in the post you can only get up to 20% off bundle CV value? So do you get full value after you giveaway non listed games or just so much that it makes up 20% of your total value? I have two nonlisted games given away at 40$ collectively, so the other 65$ of bundle value is basically cut to 8$ minus the 25$ free pass? I'm so confused, so why is my CV 89$? And I bought Tropico 4 directly from steam for the purpose of giving away and I don't get CV for it because it was on a bundle 2 years ago that people might have stockpiled keys from?

But what if I have contributed 1 game which is not from a bundle? shouldn't it be more than 30?

To jakieś nie porozumienie kupuje gry i oddaje je za darmo a licznik wciąż utrzymuje limit 30$ :O Więcej straciłem niż zyskałem! Całkowita suma to 70$ (za wszystkie prezenty) NIE 30$!!
This is a misunderstanding buy the game and gives them free. The counter shows 30 $. The total amount is $ 70 (for all the gifts) NO 30 $ More lost than gained.
(sorry my english is bad)

We rolled out a few important updates to the site today.
The first major change is the way contributor values are calculated. In short, the update limits giveaways that might have originated from a bundle to 20% of your total value (Note: Giveaways created prior to a bundle always receive full value). Please review the threads from earlier in the week for the full details. Keep in mind, we'll continue to improve this system as time goes on.
There's no longer a restriction on what games can be given away, assuming they're not guest passes or beta keys. Anything found in the drop down menu when creating a giveaway is allowed. If you're gifting a game from a bundle, please review that bundle's terms of service to ensure you have permission to do so. If you believe a giveaway needs to be removed, please use the report button. There's no reason to post accusations in the comments, and users doing so may be suspended for inappropriate behavior. We'll review reported giveaways, and remove them if necessary. The new system will ensure contributor values are not overly inflated by bundle games.
Thanks to everyone in the community for all the feedback the past week, and I believe we created a system that's fair for everyone. It still leaves room for improvement, and there are a number of great suggestions in the previous thread we'll be exploring in the coming weeks.
