Ok just a quick question. For instance I bought some copies of Faerie Solitaire long after it had been featured in some bundle. How long are the games marked as lower value? Is it permanent or will there be a time frame before the game is considered full value again?

If you give only games that have been in bundles, you will never have more than $30 CV on you profile. If you give games that were never in bundles, that number will rise.
Comment has been collapsed.
How I understood it, in simple words:
You can get 100% from bundled games until you reach 30 CV (look at my profile, 2 bundled/asterisk'ed (*) games, yet I nearly hit 30 CV). After that you'll only get 20% of a bundled games steam price in CV points, however you only get these (should work retroactively) if you also gave away non-bundled games of the same CV value.
So an example: You start at 0 CV and then give away 2 bundle games worth 30 and 20.
Your CV will now be 30. You still have a hidden "Bundle-CV" of 4 left (20/5=4). These 4 hidden Bundle/CV point will only be added to your real CV if you give away games that haven't been bundled yet worth 4 dollars.
If you give away non-bundled games worth 100 dollars, you are able to also get 100 CV from bundled games (each worth 20% of their worth in dollars on steam).

No.
The value isn't lost.I am going to use your example. You need to give away 100$ worth of non bundled games to get the full value out of the 20$ game.
Also, you get non bundled value for bundle games until you reach 25$.YOu have to add the 25$/5=5$ to the 25$.

So you didn't read the post at the top of the page and just came here to complain? The only "incentive" to create giveaways should be that you want to make someone happy. Now if it's CV you're after, then stop giving away bundle games and start spending some real money.
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't know, you should ask him not me. I don't care if he makes giveaway or not. I just don't feel there's a need to come here and complain about it while he obviously didn't reat the post at the top of the page in the first place.

Nice ideals you have there, yeah, I agree with you, but he pays for games and likes to get a little something in return, such as CV - not really that much to ask, is it? He has as much right to say what he thinks and feels as you have to complain that you don't like his idea of giving away games.

I have 21 away games and have only one account value of $ 34 oO
3games already true worth $ 40
Comment has been collapsed.
because all your GAs were a bundle games. If you give a game away b4 it's added to bundle game, but after bundle started, when game is added to list all GAs created after time of bundle start have their CV changed to bundle CV. If you want to earn more CV give some non-bundle games - you will then also get 20% CV extra from your bundled GAs.

Bundle games are retroactively set because the manager of the bundle list don't know when every single bundle comes out and don't have to time to just set at his computer looking at those bundle websites.
Once bundled, a game will forever give bundle value because what is stopping someone from just holding on to the keys.
Comment has been collapsed.
It doesn't matter if you got a game from bundle, or bought it AFTER bundle ended - no way to know oif you just waited few weeks/months after bundle ended b4 giving it. So after bundle launches all agmes from it counts as bundle games later on.
And yeah - all your games have been bundled. Cogs bundled since 2011, Anomaly - Jan 2012, Spacechem - since 2011, Dead Space and Mirror's Edge - from latest HiB Origin, Angelica Weaver - 20 Aug 2013, Larva Mortus - since May 2013 - so yeah - all have been bundled before you gave them away, hence you only have 30$ CV. You can see whole bundle list with dates here.

Nice idea, but in that case would be a problem with games, that were added to bundled list because of steamshop glitches.

It's wide open for abuse, and impossible to verify. Experience has shown that if there is even the scent of an abusable loophole on this site, there are a rump of ballbag users who will invariably be tripping over each other in a rush to fill their boots.

Could we get a lock on this post? People keep bumping it and then everyone else sees it and reacts as if this was a new change (since it has the eye-catching "important updates!" bit.) I mean, we can still link to it fine if it's locked, but there's not really any purpose to replying to such an ancient thread at this point...

hey guys if i start a dead island riptide giveaway , will i receive the full amount ? 39,99 euro ? or is it in a bundle ? thx
Comment has been collapsed.
From what i see, Riptide it's not marked as bundled.
You can easily check thin if you go to Create new GW -> search for the game you want to GW from the drop down list
-> and if it's marked with * it meas that it will count as bundled.

I have the game Krater (Steam gift) but its marked as * because it was in a bundle... :(
Comment has been collapsed.
Nope. Just because you have a tradeable copy in your inventory when you create the giveaway, and don't have it anymore after it's marked as completed, doesn't mean you gave the winner a gifted copy. You might have sent the winner a key and traded the gift copy to an alt account. Then we'd need to get the winner to confirm whether they got a key or a gift copy, and that'd be up for abuse/cheating too. Just nope nope nope.
Comment has been collapsed.
You think the wrong way, i mean a Steambot like another side is using.
Create a Steamgift-giveaway, gift the copy to bot...bot gifting it to the winner, no way to abuse.
Comment has been collapsed.
And then responsibility for all mistakes, steam inventory problems, gifts bought with stolen CC dissapearing is put on cg?
Also idk which of 2 sites using bot you refer two, but both have problems - 1st managing gifts even with much less GAs being created there (they're marking any gift from pending to active status by gand - on SG ot would be impossible shitload of work for support), another one had problems with bot sending gift and winners ad to wait very long for their wins at one point.

Do the marked games at least go back to normal a while after the bundle offer is over? Just because a game WAS bundled at one point, doesn't mean it always will be. Seems a bit asinine to me. If a game was only in a bundle 6 months ago, it seems logical that its original value would be credited now. If I'm going to buy a $20 game at face value for a giveaway, I better be getting the correct credit for it. Just because it was in a bundle once upon a time it shouldn't make it any less valuable.
Comment has been collapsed.
You guys seem to be missing my point, though. I meant a for a game to be in a bundle ONCE a long time ago, not a game that's ALWAYS found in a bundle, should go back to it's original. Eventually every game on the giveaway list will have been in a bundle, and then it will no longer be useful to a contributor to do a giveaway, especially when they buy a game for 40, and get no credit for it. This site will die soon after because of a lack of users, and everyone will just stick to Steam Trades, except for the most die-hard Philanthropist. Mind you this is hypothetical, not fact.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yet you are all still missing my point. ALL games will have eventually been in a bundle, so NONE of us will get ANY credit for ANY giveaway. Do I have to make it simpler for you to understand? Not sure how to dumb down my statement any more than I have.
Comment has been collapsed.
If you're that concerned about CV, just check the bundle list before you buy a game to giveaway. There will always be games that aren't yet bundled for you to buy and giveaway.
Comment has been collapsed.
Ok,now we wanna dance, huh? Before calling me dumb learn to think with the 4th dimension. Not only get games POSSIBLY (still a lot of old games that are not on this list) there are also coming new games every single fucking day. There will NEVER be a situation where every game will be on the list. Which is sad. Cause the day that would happen we finally would get rid of that stupid CV giveaway system.
But let's face the truth. Your point is not "System is flawed cause everything will end up bundled" which I proved wrong. Your point is "I gib lots of bundle gemz and get no CV. I want moar CV for my bundle gemz gibs".
Calling me dumb? You made a fool out of yourself.
Comment has been collapsed.
Actually, I haven't. I will call you a dumb-ass all I want, because you are. You STILL haven't gotten my point. I don't care about getting CV for giving out bundled games. What bothers me, is that a game that was in a bundle over a year ago, and only then, is still in the list. Everyone that argues with this and says that people will just save it for a year and then abuse them again, is a dumb-ass. Steam Keys expire after a certain amount of time. All they have to do is take the game off the bundle list after they expire, so no one can abuse them. If you aren't going to say anything USEFUL to the topic, you may as well not say anything at all. Because all you're doing is dribbling all over yourself.
Comment has been collapsed.
All you do is calling everyone who is not your opinion stupid. Even if I would believe you and this is not about CV,which makes me wonder what your motivation is,then you still have absolutely no valid point. Steam keys expire? Dunno, I tried keys that were well over a year old and they still worked pretty good actually. Why should they expire. Keys are "retail" and retail keys don't expire. So yes, here you either try to make a point by making up things aka lying or you are the dumb-ass here.
Next: "They" aka CG and his staff don't have to do anything. The bundle list came together with the possibility to create bundle games at all. Before that bundle games were not even allowed. They decided to do it that way to prevent any form of abuse. Making an entry on the list time limited would make it possible to hoard. It doesn't matter if you think it is a stupid argument, it is evidently possible and the beginning of the bundle list showed that people were hoarding their keys thinking one day they get full CV.
So..about saying anything useful to the topic. Do you have to say anything that can be backed up and is actual an argument. I am tired of your misinformation and your own opinion.
I recommend using galagiveaways. It's a dumpster for everyone who thought SG is dumb. You might find many friends there that share your opinion on bundled games. In fact you will only find those ones there.

To be quite honest, I welcome other people's opinions. I wasn't calling you a dumb-ass because you thought differently than me, I called you that because at that time you still hadn't understood what I was saying, even though I said it multiple times in different ways. Do I need to have motive to make a suggestion or ask a question? Thought that's what the forums were for. About the expiration, perhaps I had been misinformed and had been the dumb-ass. I was under the impression that it was true, as someone from Steam Support told me that. But I guess they were wrong as well. As for CG, I never said they had to do anything, I was just stating my opinion about the bundle list, which is my legal right to do so. Honestly, if you dislike my opinion so much, you could have just ignored it. You brought this "argument" upon yourself. I'm not trying to change the way it works, or your way of thinking. I couldn't care less about what you think, yet you seem pretty adamant about changing my mind. I understand the rules, and I know why they are there. That's all the information I needed from this. Yet you continue to misunderstand my point, which didn't need any insight or rebuttal. No opinion can ever be wrong, as it isn't a piece of information, it is a feeling. I feel after a year or two has passed, that certain games should be removed from the list. Never did I say ALL of them. Also, when I said "bundled games" for CV, I meant current ones. I don't buy and save them, I buy them specifically to give away. If you look at my profile you'll see many of the recent bundled games that I gave away. I wasn't after CV for them, otherwise I would never have given them all away. I specifically meant games that were in a bundle ~year+, and never since then. But as you say, if keys have no expiration, then I agree that it is a moot point, regardless. I was under the implication that they did, so that is why I had the suggestion/question. You are right, perhaps I was the dumb-ass. But my opinion about the list will not change, and no I do not want to go to the other site because of that. I like everything about this site, other than the massive list. Also, I apologize to everyone for my attitude about this whole situation. My mood stabilizers haven't been working so well lately. Now, hopefully in admitting that I was the dumb-ass here, we can all get along.

Only if nobody produces any new games for about 15 years. Personally I'd only consider employing a condescending tone like this if I was 100% sure I'd thought things through...
There will always be new games, and if people give them away before they become bundled several months/years down the line, they will get full credit for them.
Comment has been collapsed.
as you said they will "buy" its your right to giveaway it or not guys its giveaways not fcking donates here
Comment has been collapsed.
No, it will not go back to normal contribution.
Reason being, I could just buy a hundred one dollar bundles and wait the amount of time required for it to be full value again.
It doesn't matter whether or not it's going to be bundled again, it was bundled once and will forever remain like that.
Not really much to say besides do your homework first on what's bundled if you want contribution value.
I agree but because people have abused bundles, a limit was set in place and that in turn made bundle games look bad.

We rolled out a few important updates to the site today.
The first major change is the way contributor values are calculated. In short, the update limits giveaways that might have originated from a bundle to 20% of your total value (Note: Giveaways created prior to a bundle always receive full value). Please review the threads from earlier in the week for the full details. Keep in mind, we'll continue to improve this system as time goes on.
There's no longer a restriction on what games can be given away, assuming they're not guest passes or beta keys. Anything found in the drop down menu when creating a giveaway is allowed. If you're gifting a game from a bundle, please review that bundle's terms of service to ensure you have permission to do so. If you believe a giveaway needs to be removed, please use the report button. There's no reason to post accusations in the comments, and users doing so may be suspended for inappropriate behavior. We'll review reported giveaways, and remove them if necessary. The new system will ensure contributor values are not overly inflated by bundle games.
Thanks to everyone in the community for all the feedback the past week, and I believe we created a system that's fair for everyone. It still leaves room for improvement, and there are a number of great suggestions in the previous thread we'll be exploring in the coming weeks.
