and it's fucking weird

also, Steam is trying to get my lazy ass to the sofa....which I have been doing for the last 2 year with an HDMI cable.

So far these announcements have not convinced me. They're just not interesting enough.

I think these anouncements are to attract console players to Steam. They are a huge market, but they don't want te complicate themselves with updates, hardware updates, control oconfiguration and so on. They just want a quick way to play their games.

I hate Gave... they can't just announce 3 things and not announce HL3.

As much as I don't like controllers in most games, especially in FPS, this one looks for me like a more effective tool. Probably need to try it when it will be done.

Yeah, I do like them in some games but I really want this, wonder how much it will cost and when we can pre-order it honestly. I hope its not above 60 dollars...

I can't speak for the majority, but I can speak for the people I know, and most of them use controllers for one of two reasons:
a) Bad ports.
b) Platformers and/or sidescrollers.

I can't think of a single way in which this controller would be better than an xbox 360 or ps3 controller for those purposes. And who seriously plays FPS games with controllers?

If you are playing on console you are not playing FPS seriously. I mean it's cool that you like to play on your couch without having to worry about cables and whatnot, but if that's the reason why would you buy a new controller?

I feel you OP, I couldn't care less about any of these announcements. Then again I wasn't hyped at all so I don't really mind, but I definitely have no intention of ever trying any of the 3 things they announced. I already have a functional OS and controllers (which have freaking Dpads). As for the steam machines, I have no intention of playing pc games on my tv, and if I did, I'd just plug my pc to the tv for the price of an HDMI cable.
Valve fanboys will worship anything Valve releases/announces though, so good for them I guess.

The controller may look strange at first, but reading through the info they post there reveals that it is actually a really really cool device, with lots of thought behind it and it is a typical valve product: made properly.
