The Last Unicorn. Will always be my favourite. Followed by The Neverending Story shortly after.
Somehow I'm stuck in my childhood when it comes to movies...

Re-watching those films some 20 years later with the added impression of Sir Peter Ustinov not sounding very german at all is priceless :D

Not that no, i meant the clearly audible accent that guy was allowed to imprint on the movie. British actors doing a german voiceover is rare, you might compare it to Schwarzenegger if your mother tongue is english :D

edit: I stand corrected, Sir Christopher Lee, not Peter Ustinov :E

Bump, there're tons of good movies out there so it's hard for me to choose favorite, but here're some I really enjoy watching:

Inception
The Dark Knight
City of God
The Usual Suspects
Modern Times
Aliens
Oldboy
L.A. Confidential
Gone Girl
Shutter Island
Mad Max: Fury Road
Get Out
Twelve Monkeys

There're more but I won't write down a whole page :P

You don´t have to watch Doom, but Inception had a nice script.
The Matrix (Only the first part) was a imho 1999 the best film. Never seen such effects before. I liked the oldfashioned story (Savior, death, Holy Ghost, resurrection) in combination with the virtual reality-setting.

And the poll is more a description of the puzzle ;-)

Curses! There's a puzzle! I was looking forward to a straight up movie conversation thread! :P
(I'm not actually bothered there is a puzzle, never fear! I am just being snarky)

Deciding on a favorite movie is hard decision... There are a lot of quality movies out there... The original Matrix is definitely quality. Of the ones you mentioned I think its the best. Inception was well done too. Doom... Yes, I actually enjoyed it. Don't tell anyone! (In fact I just watched it again the other night on SyFy)

Cabin in the Woods is a pretty impressive movie... I thoroughly enjoyed the Resident Evil movies...
My favorite might be Starship Troopers.

I need to think more... But now I need to leave an retrieve my munchkin from daycare...

Resident Evil. The only franchise that makes me go to the theaters to watch it whenever a new movie comes out because I just can't wait for the DVD.

Can't choose a movie only. All can I say is that I liked the last movie I saw, that was Buffalo '66
