It is that time of the year again, so let us take a quick glance on what went right since our last gathering

  • The SteamOS + Linux part of the games catalog now lists over 1111 titles!!11
  • Some of the more popular recent and upcoming releases featured in a SteamOS Sale back in March have set course on adding support for SteamMachines.
  • Blender is now available on Steam.

All the games given away in this thread should work on linux-systems.
Please feel free to join in with SteamPlay-enabled giveaways if you like. ^^

Let's get down to business, shall we?

Oh I didn't know about this initiative. Neat idea, thanks for the giveaways, cicyractu!
Then we can only contribute with steam gifts, not with steam keys? (steamplay games, of course)

Glad you like it! Sadly, I lack time and skills to organize proper events or a movement to gain momentum, but I am stubborn enough to continue in hopes that it may gradually take off.
And of course Steam keys are OK, all contributions are welcome!

Thanks! Bump! Used to be a Linux user but I've been using Windows far more as it is a pain going from Windows during the day to Ubuntu at night.

that's just because Unity sucks. If you'll ever try linux again (do it) customize your environment, try a few desktop environment and on each one of them try available window managers. When you'll have your perfect workstation you won't ever turn back.

so they added blender to steam, I don't see the point that much but still I love it

thanks for the giveaways

Well, it certainly is not a revolution or anything. But I see it as a positive thing for a couple of reasons:

  • (Even) More exposure for Blender in the gaming community (where this kind of software is really sought for).
  • An official cross-platform maintained upstream repository (while Steam is hardly a packet manager, it sure beats having none).

What's the reason for Blender being on Steam? Are there any benefits when using Steam version?

Ubuntu user here. You can always try PlayonLinux on windows-only games = )

No problem. Not adding, because… reasons
Technically, it qualifies, as having a Linux version (blastem-game.com/#about), but it is not (yet) on Steam.
Interesting one, through. I have not seen many devs selling source code through the storefront.

Only games that I already have or don't want. But I really like this thread (heavy Linux user here, only using Windows for some games). I can remember the moment when they announced the first games for Linux, which were only I think about 30 games.

I will check my leftover bundle games to see if there are some linux games ;)

Thank you for the contribution! Visibility bump-ed.
I usually do several rounds of giveaways on my own (with guaranteed non-bundled gifts), so you may want to check back for updates. Maybe you'll find something interesting later on.

And the amount (and diversity) of extra GAs from the SG community members is record-breaking!

It genuinely puzzles me however… Why is Linux Force considered dark, and nVidia (of all things) - light?
Although… Not sure which version came first.

Siths are not necessarily villains. And they're definitely cooler than Jedis, that's for sure.

Yeah, the 'coolness factor' is what I assumed. My knowledge of the SW lore is quite rudimentary, so thanks for the link!
