Congratulations, mate! Hope I'll follow your steps as soon as possible! :)
Specially it looks like we have very common path! Poland -> end of study -> programming.
Btw. I remember in your one ooooold thread someone was posting site with a map of all game developers there are in a world (or quite a bunch of them). Do you still have a link somewhere?
Nevermind - found it by googling my own words above. http://www.gamedevmap.com/ If anybody's interested ^^
Once again - crossing my fingers for you, Słowacki! ^^

Of course ^^
Ended (opto)electronics in Gdańsk (you? :p) so not particular programming department but had basics of it which I'd like to practice now more :). You know, there is a lot more IT than engineering jobs in our country.
Hmm, may I ask in what area you were studying and in the end what coding language you were and will be using? :)

Computer Science in Kraków. Yeah, you probably had a lot of C and maybe some Assembler (which is hell).
As for the job, my close friend graduated Automatics and Robotics, which was the hardest to get to major on our university and ended up working in IT anyway. The IT market is pretty massive, finding a job in engineering is much harder.
I went through many languages briefly, I used Java for a longer period of time, but then got hired by a company which used mostly C#, so I switched to it, but it's useful for the sake of Unity so I don't complain. I've also learned some VB, JS and PHP while working. Thinking about going back to C++ though, for the sake of game development, but I wasn't too hooked up on it before, so I'm a bit reluctant about it :P

Yup! C, Assembler (which is hell) all the sentence should be official name and HDL mostly. Also much C++ to program microcontrollers - however mostly by edit.
On Gdańsk University of Technology story is exactly the same. Automatics and Robotics is the hardest faculty and still most of my mates ended in IT. Sometimes like Intel, sometimes PHP developing. Like you said. There is problem with industry at all in our country. Most what we've got are offices.
Currently studying Grębosz Symphony C++ - probably you know it ^^ If not - check it out, best book to learn programming I have seen so far. Maybe it will help you hook up? Who knows.
I see I have much to learn when I see all your experience but there must be something with what I'll start, isn't it? :) Still I'll try to take it as a motivation.
Thanks for your response and congrats once again, mate!

Actually, I'm not THAT experienced. Finished the studies a year ago myself and worked only for like 2,5 years, so not much. But I have some good friends who studied with me or on similar majors, so we share our experiences :P Both of my friends who graduated Automatics & Robotics work in creating some embedded systems for cars (mostly dealing with C as far as I remember).
Ah, the Symphony. Now that's a timeless classic :D
Thanks again and good luck with your future, too :)

I might start in order to grasp some basics, to communicate in every day situations (shops, means of transportation, etc.), however, it is not required by the company, as the team seems to be pretty multinational anyway (there's another Pole there already).
And thanks ^^

After some months of slacking, playing games, spending much of my time on SG and working on my master thesis, I'm going back to business and moving to the Netherlands. It's not the dream job that would be game dev, but I'm moving from coding and spending time talking with clients, to mostly coding, so I guess it's for the best, 'cause I'll finally get on a real professional level of developing. And I'm also (finally) moving in with my fiancee, who is in the Netherlands for few months already. While I won't have that much spare time to waste on SG, I'll still spend some of it here definitely.
Anyway, I'm kinda happy, so here are two games just to celebrate the time well spenton SG in the previous months :P
And a little something, something for my wl - Lost Planet 3.
EDIT: Thank you to everyone who congratulates me, I'm too lazy to reply to everyone individually :P
EDIT2: New milestone hit:
EDIT3: Added a new giveaway, a classic (lvl 3+): http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/QPikZ/bad-rats
EDIT4: Added one more GA - Outland.
EDIT5: Added the last GA - Stanley Parable. Once again, thanks to everyone who posted here and in the giveaways. I'll close the thread once all the games from the GAs have been distributed. Cheers!
