The SECOND SG karaoke contest. one hour left

That's a fun idea, the problem being it takes some people a long time to chose a song. and if i ask them to sing something new for the final round, would I also need a time limit? and if so, what do i do is someone dosn't submit anything before the limit.

Like you said, maybe for another edition, if there will be next one in first place. People shouldn't change/add rules during event :P

Hmm, Someone told me people can vote as many times as they want on strawpoll if they use a tor network. if this is true it's not an option.

Ok, so I actually wanted to suggest it - voting by comments. Yet I'm not sure if this is good idea - first of all, I'm not sure about people having more than one vote. It should be one user - one vote. That way it will be more fair. Polls are better idea.

Why 6 groups are bad idea
But okay, let's go to my idea. I see that with your idea about voting for groups you probablly inspired yourself by looking at some football cups. Bad idea - to make 6 groups with polls you would have to create 6 different topics. Honestly, do you think it would work? Not to mention that totally it would be 7 topics in whole, and one of them should be constantly upped, so people would have some place to find links to every poll. Still, I belive that some users would find maybe one topic, vote for someone, and forget about whole case, thinking that it's weird because whole contest had only 4 participants. Sounds not really probable? Then think about all that people that don't read desrciptions :P And at the end you would have to make another thread, to final round. Seriously, for me, it's like totally unnecessary making things more difficult. Not to mention you would add yourself more work.

Why Kartyl's idea is best idea
Well it's actually kinda similliar but better - we will have only two topics! Think about it like about winter ski sprint - Semifinal A & Semifinal B - you take best from both of them and then you have a final group. It would be easier to mantain (only two topics instead of six), easier for other users to monitor and finally, easier to comment and talk about songs. You would have to make two polls, one with 10 and another with 11 contestants, and from them you would create The Final Ten. (Note the fact that after choosing this way, to make last poll you would have to create only one more topic - in whole, contest would have only 4 topics which is less than in your idea of the first round)
What system would you choose is up too you - you could go fully FIS and for example grant winner and user from second place from every semifinal place in final ten, and then choose six 'lucky loosers' looking at number of votes they received, or just go with vote numbers from the start, which would be more fair but somehow less entertraining.

I hope everything was clear, and I didn't make mistakes in my wall of text. Let me know what you think, maybe I should explain something?

P.S. - One more thing, just ot be sure. How exactly will poll look? one entrance for one user like:

• Author of song A
• Author of songs B and C
• Author of song D
• Author of songs E, F and G
• etc.

or one entrance for one song?

The comment based system would reveal the identity of the people voting, not the people singing.

Well, I never really tried to practice singing in my entire life.
People say I have a nice voice, but for radio, not singing.
I think the problem is I'm always on the same tone :P
