That's where mine crashed too (High Five, yeah :o), just when I (re-)binge-watched Twin Peaks and wanted some more weirdness... Steam's Headache Investigation Team (which works just like its abbreviation) at its best again, but thanks to the fellas over at GOG it worked out for me in the end :P.

I was looking for the commercial remake, Half-minute Hero. Because I didn't know there was a freeware version as well.

I'd count trashing an army of nazi robots as saving the world as well, so this would be a valid answer too,

Wander around inside a whale with your dog
Hint 1:The whale is part blimp
Hint 2: The beginning and ending of the game take place in an orphanage
Hint 3: There's lesbians
Hint 4: You can send your dog to search for items

ahem
I present Jade's Dog. And they are involved in an orphanage (called the lighthouse), and theres a whale blimp that you go in. It's been three days anyway so maybe time to call it quits and move on?
Comment has been collapsed.
Huh. My bad. I don't remember the whale blimp either. Still not Beyond Good and Evil though. Added another hint

Lesbians? Ok now i'm sure you're just making this up... haha.
Ok well it's not really a whale blimp but an airship called the beluga, which is a whale? I thought you were being deliberately obscure.
Comment has been collapsed.
All those things are in it. Granted, you don't know you're in a whale for most of the game, but still. And isn't the point to be obscure? You saw the fourth hint?
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, I have no more ideas now. This wins the prize of being one of the best 'bad' descriptions, or the game is just really obscure.

How many games are there with whale blimps? And thank you, I tried. I could have not mentioned lesbians. I thought that made it too obvious
Comment has been collapsed.
Have played neither of those. But do you also have a dog in those? And lesbians?

Next you'll tell me it begins and ends in an orphanage. I sorta wanna play it now. Is it fun?

It starts in the house of Uncle, who is raising all the kids of a small town after all their parents died. It ends a few hundred meters away from the same spot.
It is actually a JRPG made in the West, and the only one of this kind that I know of which was NOT made in RPGmaker. it is a nearly 20 year old title that has issues with the second half of the plot (it uses gigantic mazes as levels there), but it is a great game, if old.

The heck?!? A low rated Playstation 2 title... I would never have guessed that. Oh well.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, okay, here goes. Long explanation, for a reason.
An experiment involving an artificial intelligence goes belly-up and now it is hell-bent on getting you. You have to neutralise it by going through a set of escape room type puzzles that involve getting a bunch of cube-shaped crates to certain spots, helped by your ability to fall from any height and teleportation holes which can get you from one end of a level to the other in an instant. Not only that, but you also have to avoid a bunch of cute-looking, but actually hostile robots.
On top of that, the game was popular enough to spawn a sequel that added a bunch of new mechanics to the puzzles, but left the core concept alone.
Here is the twist: It is not Portal. Or Narbacular Drop. Or any game that has anything to do with the Valve Corporation. Still, the game is involved with Steam.
Hint 1.: It predates Portal.
Hint 2.: It is a 2D game.
If nobody gets it in the next 12 hours or so (and let's face it: nobody will), just add this to the top to the unsolved ones and move on.

Okay, the last one turned out to be pretty hard (6 days and not solved), so I'm going to just take a turn myself:
Indie game about a player of a specific type of team game going on a genocidal rampage to end the world.
HINT: The game's officially available only in French, though there's a popular fan-translation of it to English. It's also free.
HINT2: The game's fully free and isn't available on Steam.
Come on, people, Google should be able to do it by now.

Not enough forum games around here, I always love reading the descriptions when I play this one. Basically you describe a game badly and people have to guess what it is. Please respect other peoples suggestions, try not to bump them away with your own. Similar premise to the guess the game thread, I'll start with an example.
Answer would be Mario. thanks for the corrections, Mario breaks rocks with his fist! The more you know!
Ok, with that, I'll start...
EDIT: due to overwhelming response I wasn't expecting, please don't post a new reply until the previous question gets a response! Thanks for your participation! Winner gets to make next choice, if no response from the winner within the hour or the winner choose to pass then anyone can post. Again really don't want to regulate things too hard but want to make sure everyone gets a go!
