It's been a long time, but I finally upgraded my internet yesterday. For the last few years, I was paying for what was supposed to be decent, but the best I ever got was around 14 Mb/s. (Delta was nice enough to point out that I was getting ripped off.) Most of the time it was closer to 4 Mb/s even though I was paying for 12 Mb/s. Well, slow speeds no longer!

Here's a couple of tests I've run since upgrading.
Test 1
Test 2

As you would imagine, I've very happy with my new service and excited, so what better way to celebrate than with my fellow SGers?

Anyway, here's a small giveaway in celebration.

Internet where I am is atrociously overpriced, but I'm at least able to get around 25Mbps down, though only a fifth of that up. Congrats on the faster internet, and thanks for the train!

5mbps... Hopefully upgrading soon to 10mbps...

Its funny that some of you have capped internet... On my country has always been unlimited regardless of speed, except if its some sort of prepaid internet... So I may have low speed, but I have unlimited download capabilities :)

It's not so much a complaint of speed, but reliability. My old service kept dropping and I was power-cycling the modem at least 3-5 times per day. Just happy to have something better.

EDIT: Also, that 14 was really rare and usually was getting 3-5 Mb/s -- which is constantly being shared among my computer, my wife's laptop, my sister's laptop, and three cell phones.

if your connection suddenly drop, and popup back on, it 90% issue with modem, just call your provider, even our loudsy service do provider another one for free

It's either buy the modem for over-priced from the ISP (my case with previous provider) or it's lease it for an extra charge. One big problem I had was there were a few times when the internet dropped completely for several days, and no modem resets did anything to help. Called our provider and was told that they were working on it and they would "credit" us for the missed days -- never got the "credit" to our account.

With my new provider, I was able to buy the modem and router at reasonable prices from Best Buy and NewEgg respectively, so I was able to get good quality devices.

they charge you for a modem ? god, what a jerk, even when i know the one they replace for free when you call is not a new one (you only got a new one, when subcrise for their serivce the first time) , it still a free one, i alway though that service in Advance country must better than our

Even goofier was that I actually leased the modem for the first month or so, then when I wanted to buy it I had to return the leased one to get an identical one in return ...

  • No option to buy the one I was using at the time.
  • No credit towards the purchase of "new" one.

(Delta was nice enough to point out that I was getting ripped off.)

Sadly, I pay more than you did for even less. And that's currently the cheapest ISP around.

This is the only poll in which I chose the silly potato option, but it's quite accurate. If I did shots every time my download speed raised over 100 kB/s I would never get drunk. But I work in a crappy African country, so I'm grateful I even have internet almost non stop. I used to pay 100 euro per month for this crap, but now my hotel offers it for free.
