I only recently bought the game, though after many months of wishlist and thorough research (even traded a few messages with the Hinterland people, and it shows how much they are keen on making their title the best it can be). It is indeed a very good experience game, as long as you are able to immerse yourself into it (and are keen on the idea of survival, of course) ^^
I don't know if Story Mode will release on May 4, though (we'll know soon, only a few more days)... they announced there would still be a last sandbox update before the release of the first story episode.

I won this recently and did some looking up of this new Story Mode feature myself and the developers themselves have stated there will be another sandbox update before story mode... so unless there will be a small update before the timer expires then I'm not sure whether to get my hopes up! Great giveaway anyway, I am excited to play it when Story Mode is released.

I have 700 hours in, so I would agree that I've already gotten my money's worth. The atmosphere is fantastic.
I play primarily on Voyageur and I agree, wolves on that mode could be a little tougher.
I'm not interested in Stalker...having 13891212904 wolves around every corner really doesn't appeal to me. Have you tried Interloper? There are not very many wolves, but they are extremely vicious and can easily kill you if you're not prepared. I'd like to give Interloper a proper run, but you really have to know all the maps and I don't know Timberwolf Mountain very well at all).
Oh, and playing TLD Story Mode >>>>>>>>>>> studying for exams :)

As SadisticKitten pointed out recently, The Long Dark is finally releasing its Story Mode on May 4th. (At least we think that's what the timer is for).
(Quick note: I understand wanting a "story", but Sandbox Mode is incredible. It's just you and the wilderness. The sound design is stunning. If you've been putting off installing the game, waiting for Story Mode...do yourself a favor and fire up Sandbox Mode at least once).
