I've been able to redeem quite a few keys on Origin and Steam lately, and also a few things on Battle.Net. Downloading is a lot easier than installing.

Are there any other developers who offer a service like this? I've been looking into Uplay, but can't really find anything for key redemption.

They're for indie games, if I recall correctly, so I kinda doubt that they accept any retail keys like Steam and Origin do.

ymmv as to what indie is, and seen as their games are sold in bundles theirs literally no reason to not allow retail keys to be used, that said ive never actually looked if they do accept retail keys mainly cause buying games at retail for pc is near impossible offline and if im going online for a game why on earth would i want a disc for it :)

While they probably don't accept any retail keys as of yet - maybe one or two games in unusual cases - I doubt Desura have any 'OMG you're not indie enough go away' rule and would happily accept retail keys if they could. Unfortunately, if games supported Steam and Desura, many people would use the key on Steam then give it to someone else to use on Desura - for a Steam + Desura system to be accepted by publishers, there would need to be some way of preventing that.

Ya, but there are online retailers that sell desura keys with drm free that gives u installer file or u put it in ur desura account and it dls unpackaged stuff like steam. So what you meant is there other dl services that take ur random cd keys u had at home and let u dl stuff?

Yeah, the last thing. CDs are so slow and clumsy compared to downloading. Every shortcut is a welcome.

discs are faster pretty much once you get the disc, its the getting the disc thats slows it down a bit :)

I've got pretty fast internet, compared to the usually limited disc reading speed. :)

It's the same as Steam.
They have a client: http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/orbit/launcher_installer/UplayInstaller.exe
And you can redeem your Uplay keys there.
