I did not have to read the fact to use a bit of common sense to realize that re-gifting is a shady moved regardless if it was a rule or not.
And why would i waste my time entering for something i do not want, that would be like you hate nudity but then enter a contest for free porn.
I actually have never read the FAQ and have to break a rule just using common sense,do not enter for games you own,do not re-gif. Though i suppose in my defense i want games i do not have so entering for ones i do never crossed my mind and a waste of points.
So i am still not sure what the FAQ all states lol
Though it is good that this person admitted they did wrong and is trying to take steps to make the wrongs right, not many do that.A lotwould try defend before they ever would admit they made a mistake.

Gotta agree, also I have a hunch that the games hane52 is now giving away as an apology was given to hane52 by some good Samaritan that took pity on hane52 after claiming ignorance of the guidelines as an excuse. In the offending giveaway, someone told hane52 that they had an idea on how to help fix the matter, and needed to add hane52 on Steam, also hane52 earlier said he/she lacked the funds to buy a copy of a $5 game so both hane52, and the giveaway winner would have it. Yet now hane52 now has two games to giveaway.

And thats still not allowed, you should have given him the game that you made the giveaway for and contacted support to tell them what you did. Or activate the game and contact support and tell them what you did.
Now hes going to get suspended for hit received on a game that he didn't activate..
Comment has been collapsed.
it doesn't matter. all we and support will see that the winner won and marked Overture -> Winner didn't activate overture -> winner broke rules -> winner gets suspended.
First of all support can't read your private steam conversation with winner where he agrees on GoGO Nippon, 2nd of all you cannot decide such a thing on your own - if we could we could also claim "yeah, he won this GTA V GA from me, I got 60$ CV, but he agreed to receive this bundle key worth few cents instead" and you boost your CV delivering cheap games hiding them behind expensive ones.
Comment has been collapsed.
Picture means nothing, YOU have to give him the game that YOU made the giveaway for.
If you don't he and maybe even you will be suspended.
He has to have the game in his Library, thats about the only way hes not going to get in trouble unless he marks it as not received.
Though they might delete the giveaway, if so consider yourself lucky.

no. you have to get him agreeing on deleting GA, then contact support to request GA Deletion and show screenshot as a proof. Or even betetr - have him comment on GA he agree to deleting it and give support a link to this comment. GA will be deleted, you will lost your CV and GA slot, but none of you will be suspended.
Another solution - buy (or trade for) Overture and give it to your winner - this way you will have your CV.
And for future referrence - dn't come up with your own ideas on "making right for broken rules" - ask on forums or contact support in the first place.

In all fairness, both the OP and the winner haven't read the FAQ, so when he goes on to choose GoGoWhatever which is also way more expensive he fucking needs to get suspended. At this point he probably just abused the good will of the OP to correct his wrong doing and chose something more expensive which is really a fucked up thing to do.
And now giving him Overture as well so he doesn't get suspended? No way.
Comment has been collapsed.
Didn't know about that, my point still stands tho. The winner didn't read the FAQ himself so he should face the consequences and we don't know where the OP got the game. Maybe he payed full price, maybe he got it on G2A or from a trader.

Ignorantia juris non excusat. If noone would sell illegal drugs noone would buy them so no law would be offended, but still you can get in trouble for buying them, right? It doesn't matter if you know that it's illegal or not. You can't go with a domino effect here and say the first push has to take all the blame.
Comment has been collapsed.
yes. But in this situalion all winner have to do is to unmark his win - aned he's not breaking any rules ;) No matter what he received from OP he didn't receive Overture, so as long as he unmarks won GA he's not breaking the rules.
Other thing is also the fact that what OP did in the end ended in CV/feedback abuse as well - as he ended gaining 5$ non-bundle CV on a cost of a nundle key ;p
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, the winner will be able to get away just fine by marking it as not received. I don't if I should feel convinced by this arguement? In the end he could have just stick with the rules, he didn't read, and say: "Give me Overture, I can't take anything else or otherwise I would have to mark the game as unreceived", but instead went with taking a game wanted instead.
The OP didn't read the rules so I don't think he knows about bundled and non-bundled games at this point to abuse anything, but that's just speculation at this point.
I still disagree tho kollega. :D

kolega, with one l ;p
The OP didn't read it but like you said Ignorantia juris non excusat. So in the end atm he has not only attempted regift, offered different game but also has Exploited CV (GoGoWhatever would give him 1.5$ value not 5$ ;p)

Still doesn't make the winner a better person in my opinion and this is the only point I am trying to make here.
Comment has been collapsed.
That's another topic but yeah, you're right about that, but with the current laws my arguement still counts to strengthen my point. :P
Comment has been collapsed.
Well that could be faults on both ends, they admitted not reading the FAQ,seems like the winner did not either or they chose to ignore it or whatever. If they knew the rules they would know what they did was wrong,so it is not all on the GA creator this time.
Though he was trying to fix t he mistake, they could still fix it by giving the game they actually won,to the winner of the GA,and just let them keep the other game as a sorta way to say sorry for the mistake.
Comment has been collapsed.
Actually, he didn't try to correct anything, someone else confirmed to have taken pity on Hane52 when he/she made the claim of ignorance excuse in the offending regifting giveaway, and provided Hane52 with the games he/she gave away to buy forgiveness. That person also no doubt told Hane52 what to do, so that person orchestrated the whole thing, Hane52 just had to take the credit for it all. Meaning the apology, was a lie, it just worked out to be a good way to get more free CV, likely get off of the black lists of some, and probably on the white lists of others.

You should still file a ticket to support to have your Overture GA deleted (you need a screenshot that the winner agrees to that).
Otherwise even though you gave him a replacement game he could get in trouble for not activating Overture.
You could of course also get another copy of Overture (in that case I would recommend through trading) and give that to him as well, then you don't have to delete the GA.
Or actually it would be better to have the GA changed to the correct game in this case Go Go Nippon.

Thanks. I only recently found out it's even possible to change the subject of a finished GA and didn't know only cg can do it.
Comment has been collapsed.
You can edit your tickets by clicking the little arrow next to Open in the upper right corner.
Add your screenshot of the winner agreeing to delete it to the ticket so it can be resolved faster. ;)
(Or ask him to comment on the GA that he agrees to delete it.)

hi, it doesnt actually need to be deleted. there is an option when creating a ticket for "change giveaway game". your winner will need to post confirmation on the giveaway page that this replacement game is acceptable and then support can fix it so it is safe to be marked as received.
Comment has been collapsed.
They also can change the game, so your giveaway would be for the game you gave to him.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's good that you've fixed one mistake, but he's still going to have to mark it as not received since he didn't actually get the game he entered for.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well then, that's something you don't see everyday. Well done! As others have pointed out though, the winner cannot mark the game redeemed unless it's actually been redeemed or he/she will be the one getting suspended. Hoping everything works out for you friend! A belated welcome to the site as well! :)

Still never a dull moment on SG. Always something happening :D

This is how everyone should manage their mistakes, well done. Just as others said, be sure to contact the winner, talk about deleting old GA - if the winner comments on the giveaway, maybe that's the easiest way to prove - then submit a ticket.
Btw funny thing how many people losing their minds when they find out there are actual rules - RULES, what an absurd idea - on the site. TBH you fared really well - it would be harder to get yourself a copy of Overture than to give a gift for the winner and delete the giveaway :) You'll be able to come out of the situation like nothing happened.

i hate people who try and act all mighty, just because someone shows a weakness, they prey on it. i hate people who try to act like a judge to others, and i'm sure that the people concerned given that they even read this comment would get very angry while reading it, i felt like writing it, enjoy (or not) reading it, i sure would enjoy offending you (person concerned by this message and who did not appear yet, yes you, i know you're on your way to write something rude, i hope you're reading this), just because you deserve it.
as for op, thanks for giveaway, even if i'm not entering and bump

Oh, this is a nice thread.
I like your thriving to correct for your errors and I find it funny, how you make more errors along the way.
So, did you manage to sort things out in the end? The winner got the GoGo game and no suspensions were put on both of you?
Seeing you making more giveaways is a good sign.

He still has it marked received. Now it's his 2nd non-activated game. Most users aren't going to let him slide for it twice without blacklisting and reporting him. You've pretty nmuch called him out too, which is also techincally a violation.

One of my friends recently had a similar problem of sorts. Well, not the re-gifting part.
But he had given a copy of the game by key here. The first key was duplicate. I helped him get a second key to give to the winner. That key was also was duplicate. This left my friend in a frustrating place of having multiple duplicate or bad keys. He also wondered if the person was scamming him. Eventually, he resolved that the simplest solution would be to have the winner of the giveaway mark it as unreceived. This was the simplest solution he could come up with. Although it did not get the person the game. It was something he was willing to accept due to things beyond his control.
This might work for you. It will solve the problem of the potential regifting and also be easier to do since it seems that support is not able to assist at this time.
I would link this discussion in the description of your Overture giveaway so that at least you are able to leave a trail to prove your good efforts in finding a solution.

I created a giveaway without reading the rules of site. I created a giveaway for a game I won and did not claim. I understand this is regifting and that it is against the rules.
In my effort to correct my mistake, I claimed the game to my steam account. I contacted the winner of the giveaway I created in error and offered them a choice of a replacement game. They chose Go! Go! Nippon! My First Trip to Japan game, you can see it on their profile (http://steamcommunity.com/id/hahahauccu/).
I am now creating this giveaway as an appology to you who posted and tried to point out my mistake. I have learned my lesson and I hope I have earned your forgiveness and respect.
Please allow me to apologise for breaking the rules of the site. I can confirm that i am going to be more carefull in the future events.
Don't fall to the same mistake as i did. Please read the rules of the site and follow that rules.
The giveaway is here [http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/dYkQ2/outland] feel free to join.
