Since I believe in doing a little honest work for what you get in life, I'll just post this link rather than do your legwork for you.

Well, a lot of bundles have a smaller price compared to the amount of CV you'll get. I think the Must Play Bundle on Bundle Stars costs about 5€, while giving about 15-17CV.

Its same as nonbundles... much games is on sale for 5€ with full price 20€ = 20CV
really few bundles worth and i think non-bundle stuff is welcome more than agin bundle

Faster, but not as efficiently. IndieGala bundles can give as much as 8 CV/dollar… maybe even more. That's like getting a non-bundle game at 87% discount, which would put it in the bundle list anyway.

nonbundles adding on list is 9X% no? i never hear about 87% but maybe some news...
Also don't know about IG bundles, my last bought bundle from IG is 6 months ago.

Due to Russian pricing, if you buy off the Steam Store, 80-85% off is usually enough to hit the bundled list, as that takes Russian games past 95%.
If you buy off a site that only sells ROW keys, that's when you can push it up close to the (aprox. 95%) cutoff, since there's no chance of abuse through international pricing.

it depends on base price, since CV value only counts 15% then cheap bundles barely give any value

You can boost yourself lvl 0 -> lvl 9 with just 4 GAs! Or make 6 Gas and you're almost level 10!

Comment has been collapsed.

ofc people do! ;p while most GameMaker GAs in Archive are fakes done by idiots who think they will abuse CV with the but fail, bt there's been a few successful real ones and they had their entries and winners. Example. Also look that other GameMaking soft which is more popular (because was bundled ;p) like GameGuru, AGFPro, RPGMaker and DLCs for these get entries, so there are people wanting them ;)

Also from a collector standpoint - GameMaker stuff is extremelly expensive compared to other soft available on Steam thus it's quite rare. So people may want it in their library just because it's a rare/exclusive item :>

I was quite lucky and a friend gave me RPG Maker VX Ace and 3 DLCs for it.

To be honest, that was the only way I'd probably ever own that program as it is so darned expensive. I am looking forward to making a wonderful(ly crappy) game with it and letting him play it! LOL!

And what do you mean by fakes? They try to say it's one of those programs but it's really something else? I didn't think people would even be able to attempt something like that here.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

RPG MAker VX Ace is not that expensive ;) I bought it myself 2 summer sales ago on 75% off ;)

As for fakes - look into Archive and notice crazy amount of GAs for the bundle ending up with 0 entries ;) That are just idiots who thought they can cheat the system - make private GA for game worth 800$, have no game so don't give link to anyone and thinking the moment GA ends they will receive 800$ Value to their account ;)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Huh. Well, I think it was still at full price when he gave it to me, lol.

As for those cheats you mentioned, I can't believe they'd think they would get away with such shenanigans! Hopefully they got a ban or something for their troubles!

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

if they made GA that had 0 entries they don't get suspended or banned, because there is no actual evidence/proof that they tried to cheat. Since game was never won and never delivered it cannot be checked if it got activated, if it was actual item or a fake, and you cannot ban someone based solely on what you assume.

I may guess and be 99.99% sure that a person owning 30 games in their Steam library, mostly bundles, who never made a single GA before etc wouldn't buy 800$ piece of software to make GA with it, but if I don't have proof this person shall not be punished, because ya know - basic foundation of any modern law system - innocent until proven guilty.

but do you need toi be a serious group of devs with your own budget to be intrested in specialized software? Not really - one can be hobbyst, doing this as a hobby, not intending to earn any actual money with it and still be intrested in expensive and professional software. He may never buy it for himself, but if he got it for free? Good for him :)

I don't say that you cannot make a popular, good and profitable game in such a basic tool like RPG Maker, what I'm saying is that while good and profitable games can be made in RPGM, the software itself is quite limited thus some hobbyists may be intrested in much more complex and flexible stuff instead ;) The same way professionals can use basic soft like RPG Maker to make a professional and profitable prodyct, the hobbyist may use complex product not to maske something professional but just for fun and screw around if it's what interests him ;)

as you mentioned it - keep in mind that Unreal Engine became free only last year, before it was subscription-based starting from 19$/month (plus ofc % revenue of any released product) - free version was available only for students and teachers who joined their program ;)

but tbh it does make sense to make powerful complicated toolkits free while it would not make sense to make basic progrms like RPGM free. Most of professional teams would stay away from such basic toolkit as it doesn't allow for too many things, so most of users will be either total amateurs or hobbyists. Sure some hobbyists make marketable and profitable things, but fact remains that the vaaast majority of games produced in RPGM will not make big profit. So devs of RPGM would not make money either if they would be only taking % reevenue ;)

There's nothing wrong with his won/sent ratio, and who cares about that anyway.

Also if you want to level up faster, you should give away non-bundled games.

The only thing I have to say it that it seems I was correct.

:D

Well, SGTools filters default to a 75% sent-to-won ratio, and I personally use a 65%, and many use a 50%, so as far as leeching goes, you're really not a good qualifier by many considerations.

I really do think you misinterpreted the original comment on that topic :)

But 1:1 is always nice and shiny, so no reason not to go for it if you can, eh? ~.^

Indie gala at happy hour tend to give a lot of CV per $. You need to have bought the bundle during the first day, and then when it hits happy hour you'll get a lot of extra copies if you buy it as a gift.

Groupees pre-orders "can" be good, but it's a gamble.

If you buy for yourself, is it still delivered in a format so you can gift it here on SG? I know you can when you check buy as gift.

When you buy your first copy, you have to buy it for yourself. You get separate keys that you can gift. If you buy gift copies, you'll get them in your mail, and you can redeem them to yourself in order to get the keys. Remember that when you buy during happy hour you have to buy it as a gift in order to get the extra keys.

Maybe buy some unbundled games which are currently 80-90% on russian steam?
For example this:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/222547/
It's DLC but gives you 20$ CV for just one 1$ (if you find nice trader)
I think it will be hard to beat this with bundle. And it's just an example, maybe you could find better deal.

My take would be:

I think the spirit of the site is to give games away for others to enjoy. The leveling thing is like a reward for gifting lots of games. If you are buying games to get a high cv to win more games you may be better off just buying more games and keeping them...

As the price lowers on games, the games get bundled or given away for free, the rewarded for those games on this site lowers. I've been giving a way games now for a while and my cv has gradually gone down over time.

If your just after a high level...
Best bundle for a high CV would currently be: http://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/iIZn4/indiegala-tokyo-anime-mega-bundle
Although I believe generally the humble monthly bundle has the highest CV as the games are not always considered bundled.
Check nuuvem, I haven't used it myself but apparently a cheap way to get games and give them away: http://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/DNPs3/nuuvem-deals-new-bundle-wb-and-rockstar-stuff-all-steam-20-real-507-usd-for-2-games

or you can try my steam group, where i try sell games...i have few games which gives you very nice amount of cv for small price.....for example Carp Fishing Simulator - 0,14 € / 0,17 $ for 1,9$ CV, Metrocide - 0,14 € / 0,17 $ for 2$ CV, Dracula 4 and 5 Special Steam Edition - 0,14 € / 0,17 $ for 3$ CV, Trainz Simulator - Coronation Scot DLC 0,14 € / 0,17 $ for 3$ CV and few more.
