For over six years now, they are actually adventure-lites, not the old scavenger hunt minigames packed into a longer casual game. So they are often focused on a simple supernatural story (mostly a female protagonist looking for some missing loved one or child), where the puzzles, point 'n' click item use, and the hidden object scenes are just the gameplay elements holding together the plot.
I frequently mention Brink of Consciousness as a prime example, since it is one of the best thrillers I have ever saw, and it just happens to also be a HOG. But Artifex Mundi is also known for their good stories and great artwork.

Hidden objects, mostly? sorry =P
What Talgaby said above, but also I really just enjoy hidden object scenes as a game mechanic (when it has hidden objects cleverly incorporated into the scene, not just scattered randomly about). The first Enigmatis game is one I've played recently with some well-designed hidden object scenes.

Not always. As I said, these are lightweight, so they usually last for 2-6 hours at most, but they tell an entire story in that time frame. A point 'n' click lasts a lot longer: sometimes one chapter takes more time to finish than an average HOG.
It's the difference between watching a 3-hour long cinematic drama and a 20-minute stand-alone episode of some afternoon series. The former needs a certain mood and mindset, and time to finish, the latter can be whipped out after a long day of work or any time you want.

yes, it will get happy hour, although there are some bundles that IG will not put on HH. however, based on recent rends, it seems they pretty much put all their bigger bundles like this one on HH.
