The only hint that's needed has been there, in front of your eyes, since the very beginning.

Believe me, when you figure it out you're going to kick yourself for not seeing it earlier.

I apologize if my previous comment about "going silent until April 15" misled you into thinking I would drop another hint today. I was just out of town and couldn't respond to comments. I am content with the number of entries thus far and will probably not reveal anything more since it might make the solution too obvious.
EDIT: But listen to Zomby2D and don't over complicate things.

Thanks so much - clever puzzle, and I'm excited to have won. Just FYI Arma 2 is bigger than my 8 year old PC can handle (didn't realize until I came to install it), but as it happens, I've just ordered a new replacement PC! So looking forward to playing it soon.

Sounds good. I mainly use Arma 2 for the DayZ mod and I have to turn most things off or to low in order to run at a native resolution of 1080p. I certainly couldn't use AA or post-processing on my 4-5 year old gaming notebook (all I have for the moment).

I enjoy learning the solutions to puzzles that I couldn't solve. So for those of you who diligently attempted mine but couldn't solve it, here is the answer. Perhaps it will aid you in future puzzles. There were two parts to this puzzle:
1) Assuming you identified the poll as a scrambled portion of a URL, you had to determine the correct order. To do that, you had two options. You could either view the page while signed out (something I discovered after the fact while on vacation and checking the thread via my mobile device) or use the "Inspect Element" or similar option in your browser. For the second option, each poll choice had a "data-id" number, which, when ordered numerically would give you the URL code: 6BTN0.
2) The second part of the puzzle is probably what tripped up those of you trying to brute force the first part. The hint to this was probably so glaringly obvious that you missed it: the title!
There are no giveaways in here
Giveaways is plural suggesting that the URL code you found in part one might not be for just one giveaway (aka http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/XXXXX/
).
just a discussion
Instead, the URL code was for a thread or discussion, the form for which is http://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/XXXXX/
. When the solutions to both parts are combined, you get the URL to one of my old closed threads: http://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/6BTN0/welcome which contained links to the 8 giveaways.
My main hint on page 2 attempted to suggest three things:
a) Being in all caps meant the URL code was too.
b) The "source of the problem" referred to the source code of the webpage.
c) And the "information... hidden in plain sight" was meant to direct your attention back to the title.
