Howdy-hey, everybody!

So, I've got a little dilemma on my hands. A fellow added me to trade some games today, and they wanted me to rattle off prices for each game in terms of refined metals. I've traded in refs before, but I've never used concrete prices before, like a lot of other people do over on SteamTrades.

Searching through the forums there, I couldn't find any reliable way to price a game based on refined metals, keys, etc. Most people agreed on prices for more recent games (e.g. Binding of Isaac Rebirth costing 4 keys and 4 refs, while the regular BOI hovered somewhere around 1 key), but bundled stuff seemed to vary wildly between 1 and 4 refs. The only thing I seemed to notice was that the total cost of buying each key/ref seemed to be roughly half the price of the actual game, and usually only a fraction of that for a bundled game.

My question to you all is thus: how exactly does one determine prices for games in terms of keys and refs? Is there a method to this madness, or is it just whatever the trader fancies at the time?

Some countries got prices lower than others, u can check it on steamprices , and some games are simply sold by the bundle value if bundled

It depends on country but usually i found digging around about Ref as i never have any but wanted to make sure the price i get quoted is the right price i get back, what i have found is that for the most part 9-10 Ref is about the same as 1 key.

These are averages

http://tf2finance.com/keys/

Market Price

1 Key= Average 2.40

10 Ref.= 1 Key

10 Ref. 2.40

5 Ref. 1.20

Like May said steam prices is a good place to go and also IsThereAnyDeal.com is a good place to go to check sale prices as sometimes games that you might have paid more for are on sale so it might be harder to sell at higher prices.

I hope this helps and good luck with selling/trading

You're looking to much into in when it comes to bundle games, basically the most common way of pricing them is:

  1. Has it been bundled before, if so how long ago was it and/or how many times?
  2. Price of the bundle ($1 tier, BTA tier etc) divided by the amount of games in that tier + a small profit if it's a popular game.
  3. Is it considered a rare key? say you got a greenlight bundle which only sold 2000 copies, if one of the games gets greenlit and it doesn't get bundled again right away you can up the price a bit.

Consider each refined metal to be worth $0.20 each, and each key to be $2.00 max since you won't be able to sell them for more then that in any case, also to be able to easily spot how many times a game has been bundled and what it's price in other regions is it's best to install the "enhanced steam" addon, it'll add all that info + more to the steam store page of games.

This is just for bundle games though, prices for steamgifts are less dependent on the trader, for new games which haven't been on sale yet it's price is the price of the cheapest region + 10-15% fee for the trader, if it's been on sale in the past it's the cheapest regions discounted price + say roughly a key extra, rule of thumb is you can't really play around with the price for popular games but if you're only one of the few people to have a copy outside of a sale you have more freedom to set a price yourself and still be able to trade/sell it.
