Morning,

I was wondering who has played this... and what their overall impression was and how it compares to Dragon Age 2.
And what you think the game is worth, I am thinking of buying it when it hits 25 dollar range and possibly waiting for a version with all DLC like I did with dragon age.
I have heard that it was a disapointment because it is more a console game that a RPG.

please let me know what you think.

Dragon Age 2 is a game certainly, but failed as a sequel to Dragon Age : Origins. It's gameplay is repetitive, it's story baffling in not only it's simplicity but also it's failed realisation on what would be a real satisfying threat and ending it midgame, it's choices wholly inconsequential, it's artwork and level design propped up to make it seem more varied than the 4 tilesets it has and even it's loot system not varied enough to matter.

That said, about half of the companions you recruit are interesting to talk to, and they tend to have their own opinions on things the player does ingame, more so than most rpg's. The framing of how the storyline is told is also a rarely seen one in videogames, even though the game doesn't really do much with it outside of a few points. And for all it's faults, it's mercifully about half as long as Dragon Age : Origins.

I wouldn't recommend it, unless you really care to see more of the dragon age world, even the tiny sliver of it that this game represents (Outside of the 15 minute tutorial, it takes place entirely in the same town).

To answer your question: Dragon Age 2 is pretty similar to Dragon Age 2, although i prefer the goold old Dragon Age 2. Dragon Age 2 went away from the original story of Dragon Age 2 so it's better to play Dragon Age 2 first.

Dragon Age 2 is a pile of dog shit compared to the first one. Your in the same city the whole time, you explore the same dungeons and just kill, go back to city hand quest in, kill hand quest in... its boring and repetitive. I can't believe i wasted money on it and will NOT be buying the 3rd one.

IMHO, bioware must pay 60$ to YOU for playing this game. This is one of the most terrible and boring games i ever played since 1995. If you are Origins fan, DA2 will disappoint you.
The smartest way - download from torrent, play it and if you like it - byu %)

I actually rather enjoyed Dragon Age II in that it got me interested enough to go back and give Origins another shot. The most rewarding thing in II was the companions (save bitchy Fenris, lord) and, while it has its many faults, I still had a good enough time playing it once that I have played it again in another class.

It was an alright game, will NEVER live up to DA:O in my eyes though, DA:O was a truely breakthrough game in the genre of the oblivion-type rpg. It was amazing, with an incredible storyline and replayability.

I first played it right after finishing DA:O and Awakenings, and was like... WHAT THE HELL IS THIS CRAP? I just uninstalled it and forgotten about it... but then decided to give it another try recently, after a few months. It's really different compared to DA:O, so I was put off about that and just said "this sucks so bad", but after actually playing it its not so bad. It felt more like a filler between DA:O and the hopefully better DA3 than an actual sequel to its previous masterpiece.
SURELY not worth its full 50$ price, Id say its worth 20-25 tops.

I liked it, but it's not as good at the first. More interesting party members is probably the area I think they managed to do well, as well as the Commander Shepard approach to Hawke (silent protagonist like in the first game is pretty hard to take these days). It does have one of my favorite story moments of recent years too, even though I didn't care for the character that instigated it. When he walks up at a certain point, I just went "Oh god, this is going to be bad, isn't it."

It really lacks in that it doesn't feel like you actually change much. A lot of these games, the changes your choices make are generally not that huge really, but DA2 did a pretty poor job at maintaining the illusion.
