As some of you might already know, over here you can see your Steam Chat log. Apparently the page was added somewhat over a year ago - I'd assume back when they refreshed the chat layout.
Unfortunately though this log is limited to the last 6 or 7 days only. Also, it's basically an endless scrolling page with no option at all for e.g. filtering regarding your Steam friends, time frame or key words.
So I'm wondering if someone knows of a script that e.g. visits the page every few days to add to a backup text or xml file? Like, directly in your browser with wich you're already logged in to Steam, so the script doesn't need login credentials. Maybe even lets you specify the Steam friend whose chat you'd like to keep a backup of instead of everything? If there isn't a script that does something like that, yet, I guess it would be a nice project for someone who is bored these days since I doubt Steam will give us options for even filtering sometime within another ten years.
Anyways, if anyone knows a script that does something like I mentioned, that would be great!
EDIT: Apparently the log is available since at least 25th May 2018 already.
EDIT 2: Well, I found this on Github - but again, since I cannot code, I can't ceck the code to see if there's anything wrong with it. Apparently it creates a seperate txt file for everyone you're currently talking to. Which works, I guess (as a concept - I haven't given the script a go - and I'm not sure if I should).
