Hello Steamgifters! I am happy to announce that the biggest giveaway adventure has just begun! :)

All of us like playing games, and all of us like winning games. So, how about playing a game and winning games while playing?

  • Introduction

Game of sWords is a text RPG Adventure where you can explore dungeons (or other locations), complete quests, solve puzzles, find useful items, avoid deadly traps and fight dangerous monsters while searching for treasures (private SteamGifts giveaways links) on your way and trying to reach the end to get access to a huge amount of private giveaways! Each Game (of sWords) usually has a unique scenario and a limited number of winners, so the chances will always be great.

All giveaways have no restrictions, so anyone who finds them can join them!

A lot of giveaways have been contributed by the community members, and I would like to say a big Thank You to everyone who made a contribution! :)

  • Important notes about the Game

In the Game, you will have Energy Points and Health Points.
Most of the actions in the Game require Energy Points. Energy can be replenished using items, which you can find everywhere, thus it is important that you check everything around you!

Energy will also be replenished over time. Normally, you will receive 1 Energy Point every 15 minutes, and that time can be reduced with special artifacts that can be found in Game.
Note, that the Energy won't be replenishing during the battles (you can only restore it with potions)!

If you lose all your Health Points, you will also lose all the energy you had plus you will have to wait for up to 6 hours to be resurrected. (Resurrection happens every 6 hours from the time the Game started - 16:00 GMT). The energy can not be replenished while you are dead!

Note: If you have problems navigating through the map, you can switch to Simplified Navigation at the bottom left corner.

It would also be useful to read this article, I give important strategy tips there :)

The treasure Game will finish when 50 adventurers will win the Game!

  • Time to start the Adventure!

EVERYONE is invited to play the Game and search for treasures in the adventure! :)

The only requirement is that your Steam account should be more than 90 days old.

Will you be able to defeat the monsters, complete quests, solve the secrets of The Secret Castle and... save Santa Claus who was kidnapped by the evil Castle Master? :)

The current stats can be viewed here.

The current Game is running overtime, which means that no more treasures can be found in the adventure.

Dude, this is amazing so far! The navigation is super clear now (the map was well done), and the game is overall more robust!
Looking foward to continuing my quest.

Will read it later, hope the site functions well from iOs tablets. We have to give the game a hype now though, so it wouldn't be buried alive among countless other more regular "meh mah" discussions, BUMPITY HUMPITY JIGGLE!

It would be awesome if you tried it on iOS tablet! Theoretically, it should work fine, though it might be difficult to use some features :)

Seemed to work fine on my mobile (Samsung Galaxy A3). Had to use landscape and zoom to read certain elements, but didn't want to waste extra energy.

Great, thanks a lot for testing it on your device! :) I believe I will one day get to the proper optimization of GosW for mobile devices, or even make a mobile app.

"You have found 1 treasure.

You've defeated 5 enemies.

You've died 0 times."

I suppose i just found this treasure when i killed the goblin, but were do i get more info about it?
Like it is in my inventory or when i did the checks, im out of energy & no potions atm so that's frustrating.. Not more than being disoriented tho, haha!

You have to look carefully at the top left corner to see what you find when you check things. If you find a giveaway, it will also be displayed there.

I tried adventure, and the dungeon made me dizzy. Whenever I clicked 'check', it seemed rotating(?) and I lost directions. I killed the first monster! I think I'm not used to old style MUD which I never tried before.
Anyway, this is brilliant and I like the font! <3
Maybe next time I will try again holding a pencil and paper. :)

Thanks to your advice, I found the option at the lower left corner and small map at lower right corner. It will be very helpful, I guess. :)

Yes, when you perform a check, you turn to look at the place that you are checking. As vcmatias has already mentioned, you can switch to the Simplified Navigation at the bottom left corner in the Game :)

As you two suggested, I changed setting, it made me comfortable. XD
And now, "hit head, disoriented". How long time takes to be normal again? Already 10 minutes passed at least.
(edit) Never mind, I found the answer. ^^

Too tired to run away, but not tired enough to fight. And I couldn't even bring down book worm. Book WORM, Carl! *Unless it's ... By the way, not sure about this "You will be revived in xxx hours thing. It makes the game more natural of course, but I honestly don't see a reason why wouldn't someone be able to repeat adventure at once if he failed desperately, or else. P.S. Any plans to turn this into a game app for Steam, mobiles later?

You can fight, but your damage will be reduced when you are tired :)
Resurrection is part of the Game, you will be revived near the enemy that killed you with all your items and half of your health.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

People will use instant resurrection to abuse the system: I will risk dying every time, because there are no punishments for that. Unless you make it rogue-like and reset the player's progress after each death, which would be too harsh.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Hm, I wouldn't say it is an abusement of the system, but you can try to develop your strategy to take advantage of it if you know that you will be resurrected soon.
Resurrection might take up to 6 hours, and you will lose all the energy you have, plus other players might steal coins from you when you are dead xP

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No, I meant the immediate resurrection as he mentioned: "repeat adventure at once". That kind of resurrection is abusive, not the "wait for xxx hours" one :)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I see :) I agree, many people would be able to abuse the system if everyone could restart the game.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Wait what, it's semi online?! So well, I guess you can't start a multiplayer adventure from the very beginning. But reviving near the monster, with no energy and health? Some would prefer to start it all over. Just out of curiosity, how long does it take in average to beat the game?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You will be revived at a spot near the monster, you won't have to start the battle again, but can go find more items or a new weapon first :) I believe it would take from a few days to a week to complete the adventure.

Got poisoned twice out of three actions lol :D

Aw, hope you'll find an antidote soon! :)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I got poisoned twice too but found an antidote before succumbing to poison. xD drunk healing potion and now waiting for energy to replenish hehe. This is really nice ! I wonder if there's any randomization involved? If we die the map remains the same, the hidden items and monsters too? I guess I'll see that, after my first death. xD

PS: Energy seems to be a constant problem. :O

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It seems that everything is random, except for the monster you face before dying: you will resurrect with that monster waiting for you :3

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You mean the map resets on each death? :O I find it hard to believe judging from the minimap, and the dead adventurers that are around.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No, I meant the environment, not the map itself.

Permalink

A lot of elements are random in the Game (events, items), but the map and quests are same for everyone :)

Nice game, just start and I love the new mini map, got poisoned and bleed at the same time lmao. Seem like this new version harder than the first one!

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I wouldn't say that it is harder! It is, in fact, just completely different from the first Game :) The previous one completely depended on luck and you could just randomly lose the Game without having a chance of revival.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Found a dead body of an adventurer, searched it, but in vain. Seems someone else searched it first. xD Must be a poisoned to death adventurer, judging from the traps around here . :O
This grid style adventuring reminds me of stonekeep & legend of grimrock. :O No that much text there though. xD

Hehe, yeah, you should be quick at searching bodies to steal some coins :)

But this is not the last Game of sWords! :)

You have no energy,
you need to rest for
8 minutes and 50 seconds

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

A logical question comes to mind. Is it really worth it to wait 9-10 minutes per energy replenish (or more, I haven't figured out the rate yet), or is it better to just go ahead and die and wait for resurrection (especially if resurrection also grants you potions etc again, which I doubt it does). I really wonder.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Dying won't give any advantages :) You will lose all the energy, then will have to wait up to 6 hours to be revived, then you will have to wait for your energy to be replenished (it won't replenish while you are dead), and there's a chance that someone would steal some coins from you while you are dead. You keep all your items though.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Waiting for the energy to replenish... I wonder how exactly luck works? :D I love the new map.

Oh, one thing. At first I missed the small info on my left (when I check walls) and was wondering where the coins came from... You might want to make it a different colour or something to draw attention to it (you might leave the same colour if nothing is found).

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Indeed. Also got some stuff that I later realized I had picked up.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It is a very good idea, thank you!

You should always pay attention to that log, because the giveaways you find will also be displayed there!

Luck gives you additional chances of finding giveaways and also increases the max number of treasures you can find during the Game.
Levels 1-3(and sometimes 4) start with basic luck just like non-contributors, but contributors also receive a small Luck multiplier that increases their chances of finding giveaways. And that, besides the bonus artifact that all contributors recieve at start.
Luck can be increased by anyone by certain artifacts that can be found in the Game. Thanks to the multiplier, such artifacts will increase contributor's luck a bit more than other players' luck.

That's kinda harsh isn't it? Shouldn't giveaways be added in a quest log or something in-game to access whenever we want to? I mean some of us may have already got a link and lost it due to this. Feels weird.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I see. You have to be attentive in the game, you will also find some notes/details which would help you complete certain quests. I guess I might add an in-Game notebook or something for that though :)
