Hi,
This is my first Puzzle, so I do not actually know how to adjust the difficulty of questions and how much hint can help you. Go easy on me and on my English since it is not my main language, and feedback on the puzzle are very appreciated.

I will do a improved version of this puzzle by splitting the Q1-Q2-Q3-Q4 question so you won't have problem checking which part of the answer is wrong. The reward will be the same but I hope that this will help you solving it.

What kind of sorcery did you do to get Q1 right? :P I've been trying for the past half hour.

Same question to you, but replace Q1 with Q4 :P

Comment has been collapsed.

Q4 was easy. I haven't found any type of number - that I assume it's the one - that is "gold". I found a number that could be related, but it's said to not belong to that category in multiple sources. And if it is the answer, I can't seem to get the symbol correct.

I added as a correct answer either the symbol or the name of the numbers

Still wrong. I either have the wrong variation of the name type or the entire wrong numbers. I guess I'll have to wait for the hints, since they drop in less than 10 minutes.

can you type an example of how something may be formatted, because im one hundred percent sure my answers for 1 and 2 are right but i cant figure otu the format. Are the brackets included?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The answer format is there for this reason.
I've added at least one combination of answer either with or without brackets.

If there are 4 questions like in Question 1.

1] Question1
2] Question2
3] Question3
4] Questiion4

the answer format will be either

[answer1, answer2, answer3, answer4]

or
answer1, answer2, answer3, answer4

the formatting on number 7 is killing me, I tried what the hint suggested as my first guess and it isn't reading properly

Comment has been collapsed.

I know the answers to Q1 and Q2 but can't get it right yet for some reason.
I'll wait for the hints

I think Q6 might need a better formulation on "every n-th locker".
might be in the hints, though

Q7 is sort of incorrect.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

In Q1 if you know the symbol you probably have the "how are they called" wrong. Hint should help in those 2.

In Q6 hint will tell you where to search the answer.

Q7 hint will definitely tell you how to do it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I got Q6 and Q7 without hints already and my notes about them still stand.

I'll get Q1 and Q2 and explain in the post-puzzle GA.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

And bump for solved.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well. I think it is a bad practice to include multiple answers in one question.
E.g. let's look at the seemingly easy Q4. I can use at least 3 variants for 1) 2 for 2) maybe 2 for 3) and several for 4). And I may be wrong on some(!) but since it's all multiple answers I can't distinguish between what's wrong and right and have to play the guess game.

The puzzle looks exceptionally interesting and I'm having fun at finding answers but it's not fun having a good answer met with reddish hue :)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

On next puzzle I will try to stick with single answer for every question and try to include more possible correct answer.
I could also redo this puzzle splitting the multiple question that some Question have, so for example I could split Q1 in 4 different question so you will have a single answer. Let me know if you think that would help.
I will probably do that when I will get home from Uni.

Comment has been collapsed.

Thank you for the answer.
I may suggest that you put up some kind of an additional check itstoohards for Q1-Q4 (or even all) with split answers (maybe in the hints section). When solved they would give the answer expected by corresponding question in the original puzzle.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I could put that in the "Resolved Message" together with the the giveawys links when you solve the puzzle with the splitted questions

Are you using the V2.0 or the old one?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Hmm. Looks like I'm no v1 still.

Edit: ok, checked my answers in v2, found the culprit (wrong answer). Thanks for splitting the answers.

Edit2: and now I wonder, if all parts of Q4 are correct, then why the whole answer is wrong...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If you clear the V2.0 you will also see every combination of answer I had for the questions that I splitted in the second version

Permalink

Solved, seems like I tried all other variants of Q4 answer, heh.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Hmmm Got the first 7 without hints, though needed to play guess the format, which was annoying. The last one though is killing me. I need to wait for hints.
Sigh...

And the hint did not help. Fundamentally, I must be overthinking this because to my mind, I cannot see that if factor a and factor b are not divisors, then ab cannot be a divisor. But contrarywise, if a and b are divisors, then ab has to be.

Btw do you know if ITH has a limit on how many possible answer you can put? Because where I said that you have to use brackets it's because ITH won't save the additional answer I have tried to write.

No I'm definitely not. I like math, only when you have to use it on riddle or on something similar XD. I'm currently studying for my degree in Computer science, well I'm still in my first year :P

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If you had advanced math classes, you don't need it.
What you need to answer that is thaught on High School also if you're trying to use Pentation or Tetration and superscript, as an other use did. Yeah, my number is probably smaller.

Haha, thanks for the hints to you both. :) I have started with smaller numbers, but when they did not work I increased the complexity of the answer. Let's go back to the basics then.

I have, and it returns gobbledygook every time.
Also, when I enter the greek letter representing the ---, it tells me I'm wrong - which I refuse to accept.

please delete this comment, your giving away an answer.
Also you can simply write the name if the symbol is giving a "wrong" result.

I tried the common name of the symbol (and the lesser used one), and it didn't work. (The Unicode character worked fine.)

In Q4 V2.0 just use the name you've posted here, and as before please delete that comment because you're giving away an answer

May be a bug. I entered the same answer for question 14 on the new version that I did for question 5 on the original (and which is fairly obvious), but it's not accepting that (with or without brackets).

Is the number for q19 in the new puzzle different from q7 in the old puzzle?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The number is the same, but ITH won't let me add multiple answers for that question so will have to answer with the number inside brackets and without any kind of punctuation.
So it won't be [100,000] but [100000] for example.

Let me know if this helps.
