Yeah, it was pretty good. If you are somewhat interested in the cyberpunk lore or the setting, definitely would recommend it.

The show happens before the game, a year or two before it. And apart from some known names (fixers and a certain mercenary), there is nothing related to the game technically. And about the story of the anime, can't say much without spoiling anything, but it is about a kid becoming a mercenary and I personally found it interesting. Touches a little bit on some interesting concepts and psychological aspects but can't say much without spoiling, so will leave it that... It is an adult show is what I'm saying :)

Anime is very close to the game, if we look at it as entire work. Music - masterpiece (Polish artists! and Yamaoka!). Design? Top. Story - well... going as fast as CP2077 premiere date on old consoles... And no consistancy in graphics.
Anyway, strong 7 out of 10 imo. Recommend to check it out.

Is based on the tabletop RPG or the videogame? I haven't played the game.

I havent too. Its an original story, but takes place in the city from game, you meet gangs and places from game... I don't know the RPG, but there is also a visual representation of hacking just like in game. I think there are also gaming easter eggs like keeping enemy in air with shotgun shots.
EDIT: Well intro says smth like "based on world created by Ponsmith", but CDP Red are producers anyway.

Just having finished it myself I'd say it's like a 4.5/10 show. I really enjoyed the setting, I even enjoyed the first few episodes, towards the end it just went downhill and more downhill, and the ending itself is, mediocre at best. I'd say it's a 8/10 show for it's first 3-4 episodes or so, then it goes to a 3/10. Other than the graphical style which is good, nothing too special a lot of the details get lost in the color scheme and maybe that's the point but it doesn't look that special, and the animation which I'd say is decent, I found the story to be unsatisfactory, with too many scenarios and plot armor, that were too cliche for my liking.
It is a lot better than many of the crap shows out there released this season but a lot better doesn't say much if I'd rate it a 4.5/10.

I've not watched the last 2 episodes, and agree the first few episodes were the best. But i've yet to watch the last 2 episodes out of a bad feeling of how they were going to end it, as it seems it was forced, and should have been 12-20 episodes originally.

I agree on the more episodes needed. Definitely finish it if you started it and let me know what you think maybe as spoiler proof as it can be. The end left me a little empty wishing this was just the start of like a 50-100 episode series and that we will now see what the individual we see at the very very end will do and maybe some plots get answered and maybe some things can be fixed. But I am a softie.
In a sense it really sucks to have a show that's at this level of quality with such a story at the start go the route it did, and the ones that end differently are basically trash grade anime which you have a difficult time watching since there's no actual plot in those, the animation is garbage, and character development is garbage. This isn't the first show I saw like this and seems to be a trend with all the higher quality shows. If you're impressed by how good it is at the start, chances are it will let you down by the end, seems to be the theme. Could just be me.

I've watched all but the last two episodes, as it gets kinda heavy towards the end.
Really awesome show though. Reminds me somewhat of the artwork in "An American Tail" or "All Dogs Go To Heaven"

I haven't watched it, but I accidentally came across a teaser for it in Cyberpunk itself and from what I saw, it looked really stylish, if a bit somehow less grounded and personally I found the framerate to be a slight bit too low.
I'm interested in it though :)

So was going to have a look on Netflix for something to watch so will give it's go.
As i haven't played or heard of the game but if I enjoy tonight's series might buy the game.

I saw the series because of all the hype, quite honestly I don't see what's the fuzz about It, David is the most average and simplistic guy and yet people seem to love him, I get It CDPR knows his audience, this is not meant for adults despite the violence and nudity, I mean come on, every teenager is gonna watch this and they know It. I liked the atmosphere, the story is pretty poor imo, the only characters that stand are the women, specially Becca. The guys have no personality and that really sucks but whatever, It's watchable just because of the futuristic environment.
