Take a large pan
Place cubed potatoes
cover with shredded kale
Throw a kielbasa on top
Cover with water, salt to taste, bring to a boil, and let it boil for 15 minutes
drain, mash everything together (or fish the meat out, mash the potatoes and kale, cut up the meat and add it back)
Serve with gravy

In a specific place of my country you can order a monkey brain at some restaurants.
Eating human brain can actually kill you. The rest of the body is fine if you are a cannibal.

Try "Croque monsieur"

put butter on the outside of a slice of bread, add cheese, ham, cheese again and an other slice of bread buttered on the outside.
put in a cooking machine that can heat up both side at the same time, wait a bit for the cheese to melt and bread to becoming a bit crusty. Enjoy :)

If you're particularly hungry put yummy side up egg on top.

Onion Soup

Cut lots of onions into rings
melt butter in a large pan
"sweat" the onions (leave in the pan at a low temperature) for hours (the longer the better)
Add Whiskey
Sprinkle Flour on top and mix until gooey
Add water, simmer at a low temperature for an hour or more
grate cheese (preferably Gruyere or Comte)
Pour soup into a Ramekin (oven-proof bowl), add a slice of baguette or white bread, then cover with cheese
Place in oven (grill mode) for about 5 minutes

I just don't like measuring things. Baking feels too much like a chemistry experiment for me. If I can't wing it, I'm not interested.

If you ever want ideas for cooking, hit me up. But don't expect a lot of details.

Next time I'm in Chicago, I'll ask you where to go. If you ever come to New York, make sure you hit up Grimaldi's for the best slice in the city

Oh you know I will! I'd love to visit NYC just for the pizza alone!

Just keep in mind that the average pizza slice is fairly crappy. There are quite a few places that make excellent pizza (Grimaldi and Patsy's especially, but everyone I know has a favorite Pizza spot or two), but your average street corner pizza is about 1 step up from sbarro.

Oh yeah, no doubt, Chicago is the same way.
You always need a native to show you around and show you the good places to eat.

Sometimes a total dive can have the most amazing food, and sometimes the top-hat and tails restaurant can be serving utter dog food.

Well, it's probably one of the best "fast food" pizzas. Restaurants serve better, but this thing is not so bad either, considering it's 10€ for the big deep pan version + delivery, and it feeds me for 2 days...

Probably have real pizza, but as I said, restaurants... or maybe some expensive kind of home delivery from the same restaurants.
Don't worry, we'll find you a good pizza here.

Dutch kapsalon, the ONLY correct way is to make it yourself,
anyone that gets it from a take-out over here should feel extremely bad about themselves.

LETS DO IT:

1-Fry some fries. Put it them in a baking dish (butter that thing up first).

2-Cook meat until it's no longer raw, then throw it onto the fries in the baking dish.
Chicken is the best option but any meat will do.

3-Add cheese to the baking dish. (and onions if you like)

4-Bake in oven until cheese is cheesy.
5-Add (cold) lettuce and whatever other vegetables you want.

6-Add garlic sauce. (if you don't know how to make that you fail at cooking)

EAT!

Doesn't a Kapsalon usually use Shawarma?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Only if you do it wrong. (aka take-out)

Shawarma makes it too greasy and more of a McDonalds snackbar-dish instead of the glorious veggie-bomb you want it to be.
You can replace fries with baked potatoes for an even healthier meal.
