I think it was any number "above" $5 not below. Here, just change that "500" to anything above.

Your friend puts something cheap on market for 5 dollars or less (however much he wants), nobody will buy it since its overpriced, so you search for it, buy it, and ta-da he has $5 or however much he made it. Then you could just trade the item back.

You can put stuff on the market without having steam wallet funds. You just can't purchase off it yet

there is a javascript command to add a custom amount of funds, but it hast to be above 5$/€/whatever
go to http://store.steampowered.com/steamaccount/addfunds/ and enter this in your urlbar or javascript Console and press enter: javascript:submitAddFunds( amount );

this for example will add 13,50$
javascript:submitAddFunds( 1350 );

People are missing what is asked here:

The OP asks to add funds to his wallet for an amount lower then $5,00 (which is the minimum for steam)
The answer is no.

The javascript posted works perfectly, you can add any custom amount above $5,00 with it.
Not for free, you're still paying for it. It's just that you choose what amount gets added (you can add $6,66 if you like. Rather then either $5,00 or $10,00)

Uh, i dunno why it hasn't been mentioned by anyone, but i usually just buy an x amount of TF2 keys ($1.85) with paypal on steamtrades, and sell them on the market, and since their worth on the market is about $2.2 you don't lose money on the fees.
