"Closest thing to Mario Kart on a computer" totally false, you can play Mario Kart on PC. :p

Pretty sure you can, I'm also 80% sure that you could even play with people that werd playing on the Wii.

Maybe idk, I knew you could do that with Desmume emulator for DS, you needed Ethernet connection, but now when Nintendo shutdown the severs, it's pointless.

not its not. http://forum.wii-homebrew.com/index.php/Thread/51748-wiimmfi-Patcher-for-Mario-Kart-Wii/?pageNo=1 patch for fanmade server. (and yes it works with Dolphin emulator.) #PCMasterrace

or if it has splitscreen (im sure it has) and don't wanna patch, then https://dolphin-emu.org/docs/guides/netplay-guide/?nocr=true

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is better than Mario Kart IMO....

It is, actually...a lot more depth and less rubber banding

I personally hae had more fun with Mario Kart but Transformed it's actually a pretty good racing game.

i totally agree with this but i haven't played the latest mario kart.
What surprised me the most in this game is the excellent local features, you can even co-op to win everything in game.

It's amazing to me how superior Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is to Mario Kart. Nintendo needs to get their shit together and look at what that game did. For that price it's a no-brainer.

I'm annoyed because I bought Sonic Adventure DX during the winter sale, and it wasn't quite as cheap. If I'd held out, I'd be able to get an extra game here :(

I presume they're either very young, or very retarded

"Retarded" is a bit far fetched. Everyone has their own preferences. Might just not have been their type of games or unavailible in their country altogether.
Btw, shows 1.12 Euros for me. Did steam add conversion rates?

I got like all Sonic games for steam for 10 bucks on amazon.com . The bundle is usually $100+ but once or twice a year it is on sale.

I second that recommendation. It was only $9.04 six months ago :)

PSA: the racing games are truly brilliant. Fun and challenging without being unfair, even in single player. Like someone else wrote, Mario Kart but better. The second one has more variety and some refinements, but I had a lot of fun with the first one, too and it's dirt cheap so you can't really go wrong.

Picked up Racing Transformed and the original three MegaDrive games. I'm still on the fence about Generations.

Comment has been collapsed.

I've heard it's good, but I don't think I'd spend more than five bucks on it. Sonic is a nostalgia game for me, so I'm only willing to throw it some spare change.

That being said, my 6 year old loved playing Sonic Adventure when I bought it a few weeks ago, and has used his own money to buy Lost World on the WiiU

Even though I mostly play Sonic games for nostalgia anymore, Generations was a legitimately strong game, and I'd recommend it if you want more Sonic without dredging up the filth.

I think they didn't bother porting a bunch. I wish Heroes would get a Steam release, because even though it was mediocre (THE MUSIC THOUGH) it already had a PC release (I have the discs... somewhere).

Racing: Yogscast $4.99

I'm still totally perplexed that this is a thing and that people are paying $5 for it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I'm perplexed at some of the DLC people spend money on (in general, not just here).
I get it when the DLC adds an extra level or a new way of playing the game, but when people pay good money for, say, a new skin for the character in a FPS game (see e.g. Borderlands 2), I'm baffled

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

My understanding is that this is a character, so you are getting something substantial for the money.

It's just not a character I would want to even be present in my game. At least I can opt out, unlike every other indie game where 100 C list LPers get cameos because they put in Kickstarter money.

"The Yogscast’s very own Simon Lane, aka Honeydew, is now available as a brand new DLC character in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed™ with 100% of all SEGA and Yogscast proceeds being donated to the SpecialEffect charity."

TL;DR;ETIWTL: They do it for charity.

That's nice. Is there somewhere I can donate $5 to keep from having to hear about this person ever again?

Edit: That probably came off snarkier than I intended. It actually IS nice that it's for charity. I'm still weirded out by the content, though.

My take:
The early 2D games are awesome (admittedly, I haven't played any after Sonic & Knuckles 3)
The 3D games have very good entries (Adventure, Generations), really bad entries (Shadow, 2006), and everything in between
GameGear/SegaMasterSystem: they're OK, but why would you ever play these if you have access to the main series?
Racing games: I haven't played them, but I've heard very good things about the newer entries
Olympics: decent party games
Other Series: these all suck. Sonic and the Secret Rings was the first game I ever returned
Spin-offs: eh.

The Master System/Game Gear entries were actually pretty good, especially Chaos and Triple Trouble. They're there if you wanted more of what the main games offered.
