If someone enters your giveaway, which do you prefer them to do?
Tilting now. ;p
But it could quickly change. We'll see.

Leave ANY COMMENT whether it be one letter/"thanks/"ty"/thank you" or even someone mashing a keyboard. (You'd prefer they say anything over nothing.)
If the creator wants replies, they can indicate such ("Feel free to leave any comment you want!"), or give a prompt as to what kind of replies they want ("What's your favorite fruit?").
The pressure here is on the creator to initiate the dialogue, same as in any social situation.
Standard social protocols indicate you shouldn't frivolously use 'thank you', or spam, or so forth-
But even so, similarly, pressure is on the creator to indicate they DON'T want generic remarks!
The only time entrants are at fault is if they don't read the description, or deliberately go against the wishes of the creator.
Otherwise, the creator needs to accept that humans are human (versus mind-readers) and will do whatever they feel is best, if not given any sort of indication as to what is desired by the creator.
The fact that people keep thinking basic two-way social interaction, the ability to clearly state what you want, and the ability to respect the wishes of others, are all some sort of elaborate debate is wholly depressing.

I prefer them to comment, but I don't blacklist over it, unless I've made that clear in the description. I get so happy when I see that I received a new notification. It's always nicer when it's something other than a simple "thank you", but a simple "thank you" makes me happy as well. xD

I let my entrants do whatever they want.
I don't put any special requirements because I know some people don't read.
I do get slightly annoyed if they post the same comment repeatedly though, but still I won't blacklist for that.
Interesting comments are always welcome, and I usually respond to those.
Generic comments I usually ignore, but it doesn't bother me because it only takes me 2 seconds to glance over it.

I really don't mind if people comment or not, except if i make a thread with lots of giveaways, in that case i expect at least a bump.
But in terms of giveaways i don't mind, but I appreciate everyone one that has substance, unfortunately there is users that really care about it, and I'm okay with that, what im not okay with, is forgetting or not commenting at all and making someone sad/mad, you can't please everyone, that's what sucks ):

I like people commenting on my GA a lot, it means they appreciate the giveaway, and want to express it, but when i's a generic thank you, i don't know what to think, another usseles bot, or someone who thanks with the best whishes.
So when someone says Thank You, i might gget a bit anoyed but i prefer that than no comment

It depends. If I have some topic in the description, I consider a lack of respect don't read and don't comment. There could be giveaways where I don't care about comments, but there could be others that I do.

I don't mind, they can leave a comment (generic or not) or no comment. The only thing I dislike is if I have multiple giveaways running and someone leave the exact same comment in all giveaways (I don't mind if the message differs, even if just a little). Still wouldn't blacklist over that though (but I can undestand why some people would).

Sometimes I'm genuinely curious about something and I ask in the description (a couple of times I asked to post a typical dessert from the entrant's own country), but I don't blacklist those who won't respond to my input. I also don't mind simple "ty"s.
Of course I like the most to see something original/personal, but it's not required.

I'm not against any form of thanking, but whenever I see a lot of "thanks/ty/thank you" or other generic messages I feel like I'm surrounded by bots (especially when description of the giveaway leads to some form of discussion). And since I don't want to become one of "them", when I don't have anything interesting to say I just enter without commenting. But when it comes to winning a giveaway, I feel like not leaving any forms of appreciation is not appropriate.

I prefer them to say anything. Most time my giveaways are related to a puzzle or a forum thread or there is standing something in the description they can answer too. Other then that it is helpful if I wish to contact them especially while sending keys. I just have to reply to their comment and they will notice it. I'm not too fond of adding people on Steam.

I expect a "thank you" from the winner, everything else is voluntary as long as not stated otherwise :)

I always try and follow any guidance in the OP for the GA regarding the poster's requirements. For group GAs I will generally, but not always, post a short thank you for entering and occasionally for a public GA. I always (I hope) post a thank you for winning a game.
For my own GAs I usually leave it up to the people entering as what the do but I'll always try and respond to a reply that is more than a generic thank you. The one time when I ask for a reply is for GAs accessed by solving a puzzle or a hidden link. This is so I can easily gauge whether I have made it too easy or difficult to find - by simply noting the replies - too difficult will alert me to dropping a hint so more people can find the GA.

I don't like it when I ask a question and just get thankbotted in return. It makes me feel more lonely than usual.
And it's weird how butthurt some people get when they're asked not to leave generic thanks.
But in the midst of this intense etiquette debate over thanking, I think it's kind of a dick move to blacklist people for thanking or not thanking unless you're upfront about what behavior you expect.

At first i tought i didnt wanted to get pointlessly thanked.... but then i come back and if i dont see any new commets i feel alone :c

I always appreciate any sort of comments on my giveaways, but I don't get mad when people don't comment. I believe people need to care less about what other people are doing.

You're right. If I'm not mistaken (and I sincerely apologize if I am), not one of my winners has ever thanked me if the key was distributed directly through SG :/ Like, I know I can only afford to give away bundle leftovers, but come on. At least pretend that you care, haha!
Those who got their key/ gift through Steam always thanked, at least.

Some people blacklist for either of the things above, so I'm curious which is the thing people prefer more. Also maybe this poll can help people in the future as well, so they aren't blacklisted/blacklisted less.
So my question is if someone enters your giveaway, which do you prefer them to do?
Leave NO COMMENT AT ALL if they have nothing to say. (You'd prefer they say nothing, if they have nothing of substance to say.)
or
Leave ANY COMMENT whether it be one letter/"thanks/"ty"/thank you" or even someone mashing a keyboard. (You'd prefer they say anything over nothing.)
Please post your thoughts below. :3 I'm quite curious to know what people think on this.
