[PSA] "steam://flushconfig" might delete your categories

I just lost all of my 25+ categories that my 500+ games were sorted into :(

I've done this before without issue but apparently Steam Cloud does not reliably save categories. Supposedly, they are also saved locally in

<SteamDirectory>/userdata/<UserID>/7/remote/sharedconfig.vdf

so make a backup of that file if you ever need to refresh your steam files.

Appreciated. I've once lost my categories and spent a good half an hour putting all back together.
Just made a backup of the file! :)

Well, I've played around 100. and I've finished (as in, finished the main campaign) around 20. Then you have some games I've played in origin and GOG.

i just saw this thread and think more People Need to know this.
i once lost my categories and never touched the mess again.
maybe now, with the Knowledge that i can save my work from time to time, i will bother again with the categories.
