This was a very long and tough year working and working some more.

Gamingwise, I didn't play much.
SGwise, I wasn't very present.
Had some good time installing a Steam Link, doodled with configs and launched some games doodling with configs some more.

Then I bought a second hand PS3, got some very nice input from people around here on which games to play, watched some "PS3 games Hall of Fames" and put the HD remastered version of Shadow of the Colossus in my backlog.

A few days ago, my brother in law came for Christmas and 3D glasses on, we launched the game.

I have no words to describe this game other than pure magic.
And I want some more.
Everything feels so dull now.
I want the magic.

Did you play Shadow of the Colossus?

Yes wait... no... wait... yes! Yes I have! Actually no but I plan to... wait... is it? Is it? Yes I have... or not.
Do you get that this is Steam only stupid ?
No and I will never touch it.

It's a nice game. The whole game is a boss battle that also has some symbolism behind to back it up. I haven't finished it yet but I will when I get to my PS3. You might want to play ICO as well. They share a connection between them, even though at first they seem quite different.

Ico was the first one I played from the remastered edition. I loved it.
But there's something about the solemnity of SotC that just put me in awe.
I have MGS3 in my pile. Should I play I & II first ?
I have Resident Evil 4 on Steam. Ok to play ?

Oh boy oh boy :3 MGS3 is the first one from a chronological story pov and I honestly did start with it myself and so did my obsession with the series start. There are references to the first two MGS titles (password, Raikov, after credits convo and a bunch of memes :p you'll get that one once you play 3, 4 and MGR), but you won't be lost in any way.
They are still marvelous titles, with MGS2 and 3 being actually my favourite games ever and they all deserve at least one playthrough.

I have Resident Evil 4 on Steam. Ok to play ?

It's a good version, go for it. Just remember to turn off motion blur.

I'm not sure I'm into MGS but I see that it gets a lot of love. So maybe your route might be the best for me to try. I can always go back to I & II later on.

For me too.
Of course, I can't compare it to any kind of game but I get now why it is such an important milestone referred to by so many game designers.

I remember most that it was such a pain to find all those lizards and other collectibles for the Platinum trophy. ;)

I don't consider it a true masterpiece, since I hated a few of the colossi battles, but this doesn't change the fact that I still also absolutely loved many of the fights and that the ending simply left me in awe. Definitely an unique game that should be experienced by most players.

you should check the upcoming game Prey for the Gods.
The game is very much inspired by shadow of the colossus

I own both ICO and SotC. Prefer the first game myself. If you are a PAL gamer, heck the PSN store for both games on sale. :D

Ico was beautiful.
I haven't heard very good feedback about The Last Guardian though and I have no PS4 - and don't intend to since I'm only interested in Bloodborne.
I guess I'll have to wait.

Well, never had a console so shadow of the colossus is still up for playing...sometimes. Try checking out Okami, that's also a game I'd love to play, and considered outstanding :D

That last one felt very gamy. He didn't quite fit in the game and for no obvious reason.

This. Amazing game, among the best of the last decade. Absolute majestic masterpiece of a soundtrack by Kō Ōtani.
