One of my giveaways has just ended and it turns out the winner won another games twice in the past, and marked both as Received (checked using sgtools.tk). Does this mean I should ask for a new winner? The rules are not very clear on this.

Thanks!

Edit: And the winner of another giveaway that just ended turns out to be one who didn't activate a game. Here I think it's a clearer case of asking for a new winner, right?

Edit #2: Both users were already suspended. This is what I got from support:

The suspension was already served and his latest infraction didn't occur during the last month, so his entry is still valid.
We can reroll this giveaway only if he reject the gift.

So I decided to just send the keys and not blacklist. I hope they learned their lesson.

Edit #3

So another giveaway finished, and the winner is another user who previously marked a game as Received without activating, sigh. Another report to file...

I was that close to Level 4 (0.01 away), but I guess it'll need to wait for another day.

Edit #4

Support approved my request for a re-roll and assigned me a new winner. Guess what? The new winner is also a bad one - won two games twice (each) yet reported all as Received and did not provide a key to his last giveaway. Still, support tells me he served suspension already, so I just sent him the key and will soon add to my blacklist.

Edit #5

Another giveaway, another 2 requests for re-rolls (so far). The first one didn't activate 5 (!) games, re-roll granted. The second one won a game twice and marked both as Received. Re-roll request filed. Doing giveaways is becoming hard work...

Well, you can ask for a reroll if he "regifted or did not activate a gift this month". If this is not the case, select the "Other" reason and explain the situation. I would ask for a reroll if I were you. Good luck!

Thanks, this helps.

I just had two giveaways that ended with me having to ask for a reroll (see the edit in the first post).

I've requested rerolls numerous times outside of a month and never had an issue getting it approved so it must be down to who looks at youer ticket.

It's only when the user has already been suspended, then you can get a new winner only if there is a non activated game won less than a month ago. If they have not been suspended, it doesn't matter how old it is.

If they haven't been suspended for it yet, you should get a reroll (if I'm not mistaken). If they have been, not sure how it works. When it happened to me, i submitted a reroll request for "other" reason, they were suspended and reroll granted.

Blacklist anyway. Do it.

Why?

i wouldnt have sent lol, idc what the mods say, if they did something wrong in the past, they are NOT getting a game even if mods try and force me to give it to them.

the winner has to have a clean slate or they wont get their win from me, simple as that

heck if they dont have a clean slate and support declines my reroll. i will just tell support to suspend me right there, cuz i absolutely refuse to reward someone who broke rules in the past lol

The problem is the Not Received mark on the profile. Don't you mind it? and how did you manage to avoid getting one with this strict policy?

Well, it's on your own head then. You will be penalized for refusing to send a gift to the winner.
You can't ask for a re-roll on the ground of "I don't want to give the game to someone who is not clean slate"

i would straight up tell the mods to suspend me. if you break the rules of the site, you will not be rewarded by me. thats just how it is lol

people shouldnt be rewarded when they have broken rules before. its not right they shouldnt need "second chances" if they just followed the rules in the first place

So, you feel that people should not be rewarded when they are breaking the rules, but you too you are breaking the rules?

well, i did that mistake once when i was new here. got suspended so i think im clear now. :3 my advice is don't reroll, but report him/her.

I reported both, and it turns out they were already suspended.

Bottom line: Keys sent and no blacklisting this time.

Too bad there wasn't a way to tell if a person was already punished for prior infractions without having to add more support tickets to the queue. It would probably make it easier for the already overburdened Mods to do their jobs.

This post is confusing. The guy won the same game twice before hand? What is going on here!

I sent a gift to someone yesterday who had won a game twice previously, the wins were well over a month apart. Maybe the site didn't used to stop you entering an already won game? I don't know.

Yes, it only prevents you from entering for a game you already own. So if you win a game and do not activate it, you can keep entering giveaways for this game.

This and also, if you do not Sync after activating anything SG has no way to know it is in your account.

A force sync when you click on Gift Received would solve that issue for the most part though.

wow
do you have some kind of radar or something similar for picking out these.. how can I say it.. 'subjects'? xD

Yeap, the radar is called SteamGifts Tools website. You, for example, pass with flying colors :-)

that's not what I meant, it was a joke, cause it seems that a lot of 'troubled users' gets to win your giveaways.. so I was wondering if you were using some kind of tool to make it possible.. xD

ps: yep, I'm a good boy :D

I think I'm more of a bad-winner-magnet than a radar. Guess what? The new winner I just received today is also a bad one - won two games twice (each) yet reported all as Received and did not provide a key to his last giveaway. Still, support tells me he/she served suspension already, so I just sent the key and will soon add to my blacklist.

you can request a reroll for an older-than-1-month unactivated win if the user gets suspended for a week because of your report. :3

kinda cheaty (not saying it's undeserved), but i suppose it's ok.

Then I think I did that all wrong. I asked for a new winner based on evidence of the current winner not activating a game a few months ago, without knowing whether he/she was already suspended. I selected the Other category.

So you say I should have reported that incident first, and only if the result was suspension ask for a new winner? Live and learn...

No, request a new winner directly.
You don't need to make an user report at all, because when support will check you new winner request, they will also suspend the previous winner if it is necessary.

Honestly that 1 month thing is misleading, and many users end up not requesting a new winner because of this. That should be explained in the FAQ.

Here's the detailed explanation :

  • If the winner has not been suspended for all / some of the games he did not activated, the giveaway is rerolled and the previous winner is suspended.
  • If the winner has already been suspended and at least one non activated win happened during the last month, the giveaway is rerolled.
  • If the winner has already been suspended and the last non activated win is older than a month, the giveaway is not rerolled.

You can reroll for non activations older than a month if the user hasn't already been suspended for those

I am reminded of a giveaway I recently made where I had to request a new winner three or four times. P

On the bright side, I got to handle the suspensions myself.

You're lucky to be able to handle it yourself. It seems that since I started checking for un-activated games and multiple wins, every giveaway ends with at least one request for a re-roll. This is becoming tedious.

Had to do 6 or 7 reroll request one day (4-5 people got suspended hehehe). No more lvl0 giveaways from me, unless its some gunk game you could give only to your enemy :D
and blacklist all those bad players! :D

I'm sure (or hope) that re-gifters and other questionable participants stay away from threads such as this, so I'll use it for a giveaway, right about here ->. You will need to use Ctrl+U to find it if you really want to, BUT - as you can see above, I use SteamGifts Tools to check up on winners and commenters, so if you have any hidden skeletons you haven't been suspended for yet, better not join or comment on this giveaway. Muahahaha!!! Edit: Ended

I'll comment, no wish for the game though.

I regifted a game I won because I won another copy of it whilst I was away (I won both at the same time).

Don't put all people who regift once into the same category, I'm here to share, not steal, and my luck at winning isn't the best.

I've done my time and accept that what I did was wrong, if uninformed, and so don't hold grudges forever - but do stay vigilant! :)

Thanks for sharing your view. I've already decided to ask for explanation when this happens instead of blacklisting right away. So far it seems to work.
