I've read some threads about people meeting up IRL, just wanted to check how common this is.

I met up with Fnord last year, and this autumn I'll probably meet zelghadis since I'm going to the city where he lives then (hey, am I only meeting Level 10 people? Don't mean to discriminate! :D).

How about you?

Have you met someone you first got to know through Steamgifts in real life? (Someone you knew before SG does not count)

Yes, more than once.
Yes, once.
No, but I will soon (talked about it / planned it).
No, but it could be fun.
No, not interested.

What's this thing you call real life?

Not from Steamgifts, though I did meet up with someone from another country that I met on another community and kept in touch for years. It was a really cool experience, I showed him around my hometown and hope to visit him someday.

Well, the only multiple-SG-user-meeting I've heard of so far was in Germany. You guys probably have an easier time, there are many Germans here, and it's often easy to travel to nearby cities, so you'll probably get good results if you do a "let's-meet-up-in-Germany"-discussion :D

Is there a way to tell how many steamgifters are in each country?
Without clicking on each Steam Profile page.
That would be interesting...

New Zealand here.

That's a nice list. Did not expect so little Dutchies as the seem to be everywhere :). But nice to see stats like this.

We still punch above our weight. :)

For a country of only 17 million we are definitely still relatively high up in the stats. Also; the stats are probably not completely accurate.

If you're going to be in Warsaw you might want to visit some level 6 owl too I~voI

No plans to go to Warsaw right now, but I really liked Poland during my first visit (Wroclaw last year, great food!), so I'll most likely go more times, Warsaw could be nice some time in the future!

Met 5 people so far, 3 are from the city I live in and we were in the same GA group, so we ended up partying together a few times, one met just once, and one quite a few times when he was visiting my city, we even ended up going to the same Iron Maiden gig and he ended up sleeping over in other room after that as gig was ending close to midnight and he had train in the morning ;)

And will prolly meet uou soon as well ;p

not bad, first time we went to a local gamers bar for some drinks and smashing each other in Tekken and some Kinect party games. We were there one more time too I believe, but not entirely sure ;p And we've had 2 home parties - first time me and other user made a cooking showoff, making crazy and tasty stuff - cause both of us think of ourselves as great cooks so it giot pretty ambitious ;p Then we ate all the stuff while watching esport on their bigass TV - there was some big esport event this weekend, only problem was that half of people wanted to watch CS:GO and half SC2 ;p And other house party was more usual - heavy drinking, I brought shisha so we smoked flavoured tobacco, and when we got really drunk coop playing of Little Big Planet 2 ;p

Nope, I don't think I know anyone here from Ontario, Canada - otherwise it could be fun. Then again, it's not like I really talk to anyone here. ; A ;

However, I have met multiple guild members before from an MMO I used to play, a lot of them were surprisingly from the GTA (while another flew out here to visit).

Unfortunately I'm a brain in a vat, so travel options are limited. Also, I'm not close enough with anyone here that I'd feel comfortable with the risk of you contaminating my vat.

I made threads and GAs the last two years trying to find users for meeting at the RPC in Cologne and SPIEL in Essen. Result of those four threads.... I met one sg user. Not sure if the resonance would be that much higher if one looks to meet people during the Gamescom.

I used to frequently visit GC in Leipzig, as its close to border and I could travel by car, but sadly Cologne is bit too far - 900-1000km one way :/ saying myself for years now gotta go there even once, but it didnt happen so far ;p

I'm not much of a traveler and there's no real reason for anyone to come to my city, so probably not gonna happen :P

In fact, I haven't even met one of my oldest internet friends (we've known each other for 8-9 years) and we live in the same country ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've met a bunch of people from my Steam friends, but none from SG yet. I'm totally down for it, and I'm out by Chicago (ambidot's out this way, too, I believe). Once I find a new house I'm happy with, I'm planning on doing some travelling, so who knows?
